Pokemon: New World
Hey there, stranger!
Welcome to the humble home of Pokemon: New World! Here, both users and their characters start small and work their way up, exploring and contributing to our IC world as they do. We aim to be an active, friendly community that focuses on creating and delivering content as well as interacting with each other OOC and IC, and we’d be happy to have you as well!
As a writer, you begin with a single character: a trainer starting on their first journey. Whatever their background, whatever their story, they’ve yet to officially own a Pokemon but are about to. With just a Pokeball and a Pokedex in hand, they will venture forth, catching their first Pokemon and starting their journey as a Pokemon trainer. Along their way they will meet many Pokemon and trainers, travel through many intriguing and mysterious locations with individual charm. Their story is their own, able to be crafted, molded, and directed however you see fit. You can find all the information you need to get started below in the hiders, so don’t be intimidated!
Our community is one of the writers and content creators, and we pitch creativity and friendliness. So be nice, be open, and be sensible, and you’ll fit right in!
Hope to see you soon!

The Manual:
These are the official guidelines of our RP. If any content within this manual changes significantly, I will make an OOC 'update' post to alert our user base. Be sure to check back with this manual if you have any questions, but if your questions remain, feel free to voice them OOC and tag me!
The Lore Behind Our World:
Our story takes place in a parallel world to the cannon Pokemon universe. Instead of Silph Co. and Devon Corp. we have a company known simply as Poke Corp. Essentially, this company has monopolized the Pokemon industry in this world, creating all the official Poke Balls and other Poke items. The other Pokemon regions exist, but the region our RP takes place in is a new, large, and unnamed one located apart from the others.
Poke Corp have their hands in every basket, so to speak. They have their own TV stations that project Poke News and Poke Shows, and they sell all kinds of merchandise to non-Pokemon trainers, such as trading cards of highly ranked trainers, action figures, furniture, and anything else they can think up. They have tons of financial backers from companies such as food and drink companies, car manufacturers, and virtually anyone that could benefit from having the Poke Corp logo on their merchandise.
Because of this, Poke Corp is also able to sponsor some organizations such as battle leagues, Poke beauty pageants, and anyone else that will represent their brand well. Not everyone agrees with the monopoly that Poke Corp has created, and due to this, many unofficial Poke organizations have arisen, pitching goals that contradict the official Poke Corp motto, "To bring the world together in peace and harmony through the love and friendship we can all share with Pokemon."
In any case, you are here now. Your trainer is starting their own adventure in this mysterious world. They begin with nothing more than a Pokedex and an empty Pokeball. You have all the freedom to do whatever you like and impact the plot while you're at it!

How Our Pace Works:
We've all been there. You join an RP, only to find that it's moving way to fast for you to keep up. Or, you find that the RP slower than a snail, leaving you at the computer twiddling your thumbs. Here are our solutions to these age-old problems.
Real-world Time
Weather Patterns:
NEVER post multiple times in a row. At least one other person must post before you can again. If you can find a writing buddy or a small group that you can count on logging in at the same times, you can all post very quickly!
Real-world Time
The time of day within this RP world is based on real time. Each real life month makes up one day in this RP. On the 9th of each month, the sun is rising within the RP world. On the 24th of each month, the sun is setting. Posting on these days can earn a Pokemon extra levels (see next section). Due to time zones, you can be up to 12 hours late or early and still count these bonus levels. Therefore when you write on any day from the 10th till the 23rd, your character should be experiencing daylight hours. From the 25th till the end of the month and from the beginning of the month till the 8th, your characters should be experiencing nighttime hours. This day and night cycle is the only frame of time enforced in this RP; exact hours can be mentioned, but don't matter and generally just cause confusion.
Weather Patterns:
From one day to the next (one month to the next IRL) there will be changes in the weather, but there are no seasonal shifts. You can find a 'forecast' for each location in the section dedicated to 'Locations'. This 'forecast' only applies to the weather for that day, AKA the current month IRL. If you are the owner of an location and wish to see a different forecast, feel free to PM or tag me @Dusksong to get the current forecast changed.
NEVER post multiple times in a row. At least one other person must post before you can again. If you can find a writing buddy or a small group that you can count on logging in at the same times, you can all post very quickly!
The Basics of Trainer Points:
Trainer Points are basically the currency for this RP. When you post as a character, your character will gain one trainer point by default. Some posts may earn extra trainer points depending on outside influences, such as Organizations.
When you are starting off as a Pokemon trainer, someone will give your character two gifts, your first Poke Ball and a Pokedex. Both of these are items created by Poke Corp. Not only does this Pokedex work like a traditional Pokedex, it also operates like a credit card. As you adventure around, Poke Corp will automatically add credits known as Trainer Points to your Pokedex. You can use these credits at Poke Marts and transfer them freely among other trainers. All transactions involving Trainer Points will require you to tag me @Dusksong. This point will be driven home as you read on.
Trainer points do not apply to anything other than products made by Poke Corp and sold at their Poke Marts. In other words, your character may have a second job for income, move from job to job, live off the land, or have someone supporting them. This will install a sense of realism to this game, but I will not be regulating your character's life choices in this regard. You don't even have to explain where you get your money, that's all up to your creative freedom. There will be in-game opportunities to "earn money" but that's just for show; "money" will always be accompanied by in-game items or Trainer Points, and those are the real prizes here.

Each location will have a Poke Mart at the bottom of its description. There you will find a list of the items that Mart keeps in stock. In order to buy an item from the Mart, simply tag me, @Dusksong in a IC post where you're buying the item. I will then edit your 'Official Stats' to reflect the changes. You can also sell items to the Pokemart at 20% of the original price, as long as the item you are selling is something that the Poke Mart usually keeps in stock. Also tag me when you are selling an item.
There are a few different ways to separate types of items. First, you can separate items based on the rank you must be in order to use them. Then you can separate items into regular items, battle items, or special items. Use regular items in your IC posts, and tag me @Dusksong when you do so. Use battle items the moment before you attack during battle, also tag me when you use these items. Follow the directions listed on special items.
So your inventory is too full, and you don't want to take the 20% rate that the Poke Marts are offering. You can always offer your items to other trainers at discounted prices, getting more back than what the Pokemart would give. Simply make the offer to someone. If they accept, tag me @Dusksong in the IC post where the deal was made. I will edit both trainers' 'Official Stats' to reflect the changes.
How Pokemon Fit In:
As mentioned in the introduction, the Pokemon themselves have been simplified in order to keep the focus on writing instead of doing calculations. The only things that matter here are the types of your Pokemon, what evolutionary stages they are at, and how much you use them. These three factors decide everything else.
I recommend using this site: http://pokemondb.net/pokedex/national or http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex/.
This game will include every single Pokemon that is playable in main series games. I will be using the links above. Whenever one of these sites updates it's Pokedex to include new releases, this RP will also recognize those Pokemon.
Keep in mind that you are limited by both the location in which your character currently resides and your rank.

Your Pokemon Party is a section inside your trainer character sheets. A Pokemon Party consists of the Pokemon that your trainer brings out of their Poke Ball the most, be it for battle or just to hang out with. This is not necessarily related to battling, but more often than not, people will tend to battle with the Pokemon that they keep in their party. You have full rights to edit this part of your character sheet whenever you want. I will not try to keep track of this ever changing information.
Pokemon Tiers:
As you know, there are currently 18 different types of Pokemon spread across what is now seven generations worth of Pokemon. Each location can only house a certain number of types. Types depend on the size of the location. Further detail on this can be found in the "Locations" board.
Past that, we separate Pokemon into four tiers based on their evolution chain. This is also how we find out which Pokeballs can catch which Pokemon:
Past that, we separate Pokemon into four tiers based on their evolution chain. This is also how we find out which Pokeballs can catch which Pokemon:
Tier 4: Pokemon in this tier are base forms of Pokemon that can evolve. Tier 4 Pokemon start at level one and are caught by Pokeballs.
Tier 3: Pokemon in this tier are either the first evolution of Pokemon that can evolve twice or Pokemon that don't evolve at all. Tier 3 Pokemon start at whatever level they would have normally evolved at and are caught with a Great Ball. If they are a Pokemon that does not evolve, their starting level is 30.
Tier 2: Pokemon in this tier are Pokemon that have evolved into their final stage. Tier 2 Pokemon start at whatever level they would have normally evolved and are caught with an Ultra Ball.
Tier 1: Pokemon in this tier are either Legendary or Mythical Pokemon. The only exception to this is Cosmog that starts at level 1 and is considered Tier 3 and it's following evolutionary stage, Cosmoem, that must be evolved from Cosmog and is considered Tier 2. Tier 1 Pokemon start at level 70 and are caught using a Master Ball; the only exception is, again, the Cosmog evolutionary tree that must be caught at level 1 with a Great Ball. This also means that Cosmog is the only Legendary Pokemon that can be caught before reaching the rank of "Pokemon Master".

Legendary/Mythical Pride: Legendary and Mythical Pokemon can only be used in 3 PvP battles before they will no longer return to their Pokeball and head back into the wild. There are methods of extending this limitation, but for the most part, just be wise when deciding to use a Legendary or Mythical Pokemon in a PvP battle.
Levelling up Pokemon:
There are 5 different ways to level up a Pokemon.
You may evolve a Pokemon early, before your rank would normally allow you to catch that Pokemon in the wild. But in doing so, the Pokemon will no longer follow your instructions. They will return to their Poke Ball if brought out to battle and will act a fool if you are RPing with them normally. (While that can be funny, it's not quite helpful.)
There are 5 different ways to level up a Pokemon.
1st: Pokemon can gain one level by having a battle with a wild Pokemon. You can only do this twice per RP day, once during RP "daylight hours" and "night time" hours.
2nd: Pokemon can gain two levels by participating in a PvP battle. Again, you can only do this once per RP day. Pokemon can be used in multiple battles, but only one per day (once per month IRL) can a Pokemon level up this way.
3rd: One Pokemon can gain three levels if brought out during a Sunset or Sunrise Post. Only one Pokemon can gain these three levels per Sunset or Sunrise. As a reminder, sunrise is on the 9th of each month (IRL) and sunset is on the 24th of each month (IRL).
4th: Pokemon may gain levels from the item called "Rare Candy". Some may consider this consumable pricey, but it can be bought at any rank and has no limit to the number of times it can be used per day or per Pokemon.
5th: Pokemon may gain levels through special conditions from special Pokeballs or Key Items. Key Items will be explained in the "Items" board.

Evolution: All Pokemon evolve through levelling up in this RP. If they would normally evolve through special means only in the games, then they will evolve at the following levels:
Pokemon with Evolution Trees: If a Pokemon has a split in their evolutionary tree, you may choose which evolution they will transform. Provide some realism by having your environment or situation be the apparent reason behind the Pokemon's evolution result.
Tier 4 to Tier 3: Evolve at level 15
Tier 4 to Tier 2: Evolve at level 30
Tier 3 to Tier 2: Evolve at level 45

Trading is indeed a feature in this RP. It's very simple as well. Simply approach another trainer in the IC thread. And talk to them about trading Pokemon. Once you two have decided on a fair trade, tag me @Dusksong. I'll update your 'Official Stats' to reflect the trade.
Pokemon do have their own wills though, and with that will, comes pride. Pokemon won't accept the trade unless they are both on the same tier. The higher tiered one won't stand for it! lol

How to Battle:
Battling is a long time tradition in the Pokemon world, but to make it work in this play-by-post setting, some changes had to be made. Moves should be moves that the Pokemon are actually capable of carrying out, most likely pulled from their moveset (reference Bulbapedia for movesets, if needed), as TMs have not yet been incorporated. There are two different options for battling:
Battles: Friendly VS. Competitive VS. League: Friendly battles are done just for fun; there is nothing to lose, and you can even opt out of using Pokemon Showdown. Competitive battles happen when two trainers want to put their own trainer points and/or items on the line if they lose, and these must be done with Pokemon Showdown. League battles are sponsored by a certain type of Functional Organization called a Battle League; the leagues themselves determine what sort of prizes will be handed out, and you must also use Pokemon Showdown.
Friendly Battles:
The outcomes of friendly battles are generally discussed privately and concluded prior to the end of the battle, saving both parties involved the hassle of using Showdown. Theses are the only battles in which the usage of Showdown is not required. Of course, Showdown is an option, but should anyone wish to avoid the Showdown system altogether, you are welcome to just participating in a battle. The process of hosting a friendly, non-Showdown battle goes as follows:

The OOC Post:
Each trainer will make an OOC post that includes participants (character and user), terms, and agreed-upon rewards of the battle. The terms include anything the participants agreed upon, including the number of Pokemon eligible for use from both sides and the posting speed you wish to set, if needed. Here is an example of an opening post:
Users: [@nobody01] & [@nobody02]
Terms: Three Pokemon from either trainer, no items
Prize: 4 Pokeballs to the winner, prepaid by both trainers (2 Pokeballs each, 10CP per trainer)

The Battle Itself:
The battle itself, because it is an informal battle, should be planned or discussed in OOC or over PM. The winner will depend on what either trainer wants, and if there is no agreement, Showdown is there as an option to resolve disagreements.
Battle posts usually have two parts: the Reaction and Action phases. During the Reaction phase, trainers and their Pokemon “react” to what happened in the last post, dodging attacks or tanking them. In the Action phase, trainers and their Pokemon carry out an action — usually an attack— so that the other user can respond. Basically, battle posts are just normal IC posts. Use common sense and whatnot, and we’ll be fine.

Ending a Friendly Battle:
A friendly battle is over when the trainers decide it to be, most likely in some prior PM discussion. After the battle has concluded, one or both users should tag me @Dusksong in a post so I can oversee the friendly transfer or rewards as well as check if rules have been followed. Whether the users want the battle to tie or be a KO to one trainer, that’s all fine. Should one of the participants of the battle mysteriously vanish, the other participant may inform me OOC or over PM, and we will discuss how to remedy this situation — most likely ending with the battle going to the user still active.

Showdown Battles:
Pokemon Showdown: If you have never used Pokemon Showdown, be sure to familiarize yourself with the site before using it for this RP. For all Showdown battles, we will be using the "Anything Goes" format. When building your Pokemon, be sure to use the following guidelines:
Once you have recreated your team on Showdown, simply click find a user and search for your opponent (let your opponent know if your Showdown name differs from your user name on this RP). From there, everything works just like the handheld games; battle back and forth until you have a winner.
- One, use the same level, gender, and shiny status as listed here in this RP.
- Two, refer to bulbapedia when choosing your move sets; only use moves that the Pokemon can learn through levelling up (unless you have bought and used a TM within this RP).
- Three, only use hold items that you have purchased within this RP.
- Four, there are no restrictions on setting a Pokemon's happiness levels, ability, or stats spread.

Dramatizing Battles:
After your battle concludes and all awards are dealt out accordingly, you are encouraged to reenact your battle. This serves three purposes. One, it makes things more interesting for readers that haven't seen the outcome yet. Two, you still rack up one CP per post you spend reenacting the battle. Three, all Pokemon that participated in the Showdown battle and reenactment battle will earn two extra bonus levels. Finally, when the reenactment is over, provide a link so that people can re-watch the showdown battle if they would like. As we said before, you may skip using Showdown all together and only use post-by-post battling to Dramatize the battle, IF your battle is only a "friendly". If you choose to not use Pokemon Showdown, we encourage the participants to kindly talk through the outcome of their battle via PMs (this way the illusion isn't ruined for observers).
League Battles:
League Battles can vary from League to League. They can use different formats on Showdown besides the "Anything Goes" format. They can have further limitations such as typing, tier, or level restrictions. Be sure to read the Battle League section of the "Create an Organization" thread. League battles will require the usage of Showdown, though, so it may be wise to familiarize yourself with the system before entering. Or not.
Pokemon Contests:
Contests are like a mixture between beauty contests, popularity contests, and talent shows. There are three parties in every Pokemon Contest. One, the trainer and their Pokemon. Two, the judge(s) of the contest. Three, the crowd viewing the contest. Contest winners are decided by how well they impress the judge(s) and the crowd.
That's It! Contests CAN be simple and exciting! But they CAN ALSO be extravagant, detailed, and exciting! It's all up to the trainers involved!
First, the contest rules must be agreed upon. This is when you decide who the judges are going to be, what your Pokemon are being judged upon, how many rounds there will be, how much the crowd should influence your contest and more. For instance: your Pokemon could be judged by their show of powerful moves; the judges could be two neutral trainers that must reach a unanimous decision; the contest could last three rounds (AKA three posts each); likes by other site members could be tallied up into your total score or just used as a tie breaker.
Second, the rounds begin. If there is a dispute, the challenger goes first. Each contestant will have the opportunity to dazzle the judges with their chosen Pokemon. Your creative writing ability as well as your interpretation as to what will dazzle the judges/crowd are all on display. Judges and crowd feedback can be considered at the end of each round or held until the end; this should be decided when agreeing on rules.
Third, the contest ends. When all rounds are over, final scores by the judges will be tallied and crowd feedback will be factored up for whatever it's worth. With this, we have our winner. The winner should then collect their reward from the looser or other entity, as decided when you agreed upon the rules.

The Short on Pokemon Eggs:
Pokemon Eggs are currently available only by means of mission rewards. An egg would hatch in one month real time from the day it is received (one day IC), which would be one month from the completion of the mission. All eggs — upon being received — should be placed in the “Pokemon Party” section of a trainer’s status box with a note as to the date of the start of ownership. Eggs have the normal requirements as to what Pokemon they may contain — basic evolution, no legendaries/mythicals, etc. The cost of an egg as a mission reward is equivalent to the Pokeball required to hatch the Pokemon caught — in most cases, 5 CP for a Pokeball.
Features Not Yet Incorporated:
Many features have not yet been outlined and released. Among them are Pokemon Leagues, Breeding, and Gyms. These features will eventually be added to the RP but are not yet ready.
User-Created Content:
This RP runs primarily on content created by users. No matter what kind of content you would like to create, you will need one thing, Creation Points (CP). One CP is earned each time you post within a "New World Location". You will notice that a post count is kept for you automatically and displayed under your avatar beside each of your posts. This post count, minus CP spent, plus any bonus CP, will equal your total CP at any given time. There are 5 types of user content: characters, locations, organizations, items, and missions.

On Character Creation:
The most important part of any story is usually the characters, and indeed, that is the case here. In our RP world, all user controlled characters are Pokemon trainers. All trainers have similar statistics to keep track of, such as Trainer Points (as covered in the manual) and Pokemon (also covered in the manual). Trainers are separated by ranks. Each higher rank allows the trainer to interact more with the world around them, such as catching better Pokemon or obtaining better items. So before covering the format for creating a character, you must first understand the 4 ranks:
Below is the basic format for submitting a new character. Reference existing character sheets for a better idea as to how to make yours.
You may start a new character off at any rank. Each rank costs an increasingly higher number of Creation Points. Each user may also create one free beginner character.
- Beginner: Any trainer with a Pokedex is considered a beginner. At this rank, your character can only access basic items such as Pokeballs and Rare Candy. Only Tier 4 Pokemon will obey your trainer. And certain game features will be restricted from your character.
- Skilled: To obtain this rank, your character must catch six Pokemon, battle with one other user controlled trainer, and travel to one other location other than that character's starting location. At this rank, your character can use more items, control tier 3 Pokemon, and access more features within the world.
- Expert: To obtain this rank, your character must have caught 30 Pokemon, have 10 tier 3 Pokemon, and be a part of at least one Organization. At this rank, your character can use even more items, control tier 2 Pokemon, and explore advanced features.
- Master: To obtain this rank, your character mus have caught 150 Pokemon and have at least 50 tier 2 Pokemon. At this rank, your character will be able to use all items, control all Pokemon, and begin to uncover all the secrets of this world.

5 CP (Character starts with 0 Pokemon) - Skilled Cost:
25 CP (Character starts with 6 Pokemon, all at level 10.) - Expert Cost:
200 CP (Character starts with 30 Pokemon, all at level 20, and 10 of them must be tier 3.) - Master Cost:
500 CP (Character starts with 150 Pokemon, all at level 40, and 50 of them must be tier 2.)
On Location Creation:
Areas are the key locations in this RP up for creation, and they're the most detailed type of location to build. You can pay 15 CP to create a new area for the RP. Once approved, areas are listed in the opening post in the IC section. Follow the format below to submit an area to this site:

On Organization Creation:
Organizations are very important for building a sense of community, working toward larger goals, and earning a little extra TP. You can create an all new Organization for 20 CP, and you must decide if the organization is going to be either a "Functional Organization" or a "Special interest Organization", as mentioned in the manual. Follow the guidelines below for submitting an organization:
Picture: (Insert a Picture at the top of your post)
Name: Example Organization
Type:(Functional or Special Interest) (If functional, choose from one of the functional categories listed at the bottom of this post.)
HQ Location: Where was the organization founded?
Branch Locations: What other locations does your organization already have a presence. This can be updated if your organization spreads naturally during writing.)
Mission Statement: (In one to three sentences, describe the organizations purpose. )
History: (In two to five paragraphs, describe the organization's history. Why was it formed? Who formed it? How has it evolved over time?)
1 TP: (Members can get one bonus TP per post by following the mission statement. In one sentence, what can someone do to be considered "following the mission statement"?)
10 TP: (Encourage your members to perform a specific action with a 10 TP reward. They can only collect on this reward once per month IRL, so make it interesting.
Membership Requirements: (List any requirements that people must obtain before joining this organization.)
Rules and Regulations: (This is where Functional organizations outline exactly how they operate. Special Interest organizations should also have this section, but it's more for flavor at that point.)
Member List
* Member A
* Member B
* etc... (Obviously your organization will only start with one founding member.)
Mission Board: (Describe how and where members can find missions. Are there physical billboards? Do you just use your Pokedex? The bottom of your Organization post will be reserved for missions that you add in the future.)
(If a mission is approved in the Create a Mission thread, copy and past it to the bottom of your post. Of course, even if a mod approved the mission, you, as the Organization Creator, have ultimate last say as to whether or not you will add the mission to your board. This is assuming that you did not make the mission in question.)

Types of Organizations:
Below is a type list that you can choose from if your organization is considered "Functional".
Battle League:
Pageant Association:
Research Network:
Below is a type list that you can choose from if your organization is considered "Functional".
Battle League:
The structure of a battle league is completely up to its creator. Are there gyms, badges, and all that classic jazz? How does one become the champion of the league or perhaps even a gym leader within the league? Maybe the league doesn't use the gym method. Maybe it's just based on one or a series of tournaments. This is all up to you. They can also have any number of set standards (i.e. Pokemon tier limitations, movesets to be used in battle, forbidden battle items, etc.)
Pageant Association:
Pageant Associations are to Pokemon Contests, what Battle Leagues are to Pokemon Battles. Random Pokemon Contest can be very subjective, due to the crowd and who is judging. Pageant Leagues try to rectify this situation by assigning credible judges and having crowd control. When making a Pageant Association, ask yourself these three questions: "Do I want my Association to focus on any certain type(s), style(s), or tier(s) of Pokemon?", "Who are going to be my judges, AI characters that I and/or others can control specifically to judge contests OR regular user created characters that live lives outside the Association?", and "In what way and to what degree should crowd feedback be considered?"
Research Network:
Research Networks are "scientific" communities within the RP. Each network can study in one of two areas, nature or technology. Within these areas are different categories. So far, the categories are as follows: one nature category for each type of Pokemon and the areas they inhabit; one technology category for each different type of item (e.g. Pokeballs, Potions, and Gadgets). Research Networks studying Pokemon can unlock hidden potentials for certain Pokemon. Research Networks studying a type of item can create new items and receive those at discounted rates from Poke Marts.
On Item Creation:
First and foremost, you need to be a part of a technology focused Research Network. This is a type of Organization with members that are always looking to make scientific advancements, and thus create more items. Furthermore, your Research Network has to focus on one of the following types of items: Pokeballs, Battle Items, or Travel Items. Reference item listings in existing locations to get a grasp of prices and item variety, and below are some example listings with prices:
As you may notice by the examples above. Pokeballs and Battle Items have four different levels based on character rank. The have two different prices, one for regular trainers, and a discounted price for members of Research Networks that focus on studying that type of item. It does not cost any CP to create an item, but you must be at the same rank for the item you're trying to create. Also, you cannot create more than one new item every IC day (once per IRL month).
As you may guess, Pokeballs are divided by what tier of Pokemon they target. Since all Pokeballs have a guaranteed catch rate, user made Pokeballs are designed to boost the levelling up of certain Pokemon based on typing. The more types they support, the less of a boosting effect that they will have.
Battle items are divided by where they are located in Pokemon Showdown when creating a Pokemon. The "usually useless items" are for beginner trainers and up. "Items" are for skilled trainers and up. "Pokemon-specific items" are for expert trainers and up. "Popular Items" are for master trainers.
Key Items take creativity. Anyone can make a key item regardless of rank, but it must be approved by me @Dusksong. The main judging criteria is that the proposed item does not do something that another key item already does. As long as you meet the requirements to create an item, all you need to do is reply to this post with the same information as shown in the examples above. In other words, you need to know the item's cost/rank and provide its description. If approved, your new item application will be cut and pasted to the "Approved Items" thread.
Pokeballs:
Battle Items:
Key Items:
Pokeball (5 TP/ 4 TP / Beginner): Use this item IC to catch a wild tier 4 Pokemon.
Great Ball (20 TP / 15 TP / Skilled): Use this item IC to catch a wild tier 3 Pokemon.
Ultra Ball (80 TP / 64 TP / Expert): Use this item IC to catch a wild tier 2 Pokemon.
Master Ball (200 TP / 160 TP / Master): Use this item IC to catch a wild tier 1 Pokemon.

Light Ball (50 TP / 40 TP / Expert): This item doubles the Sp. ATK and Attack of a Pikachu.
Eviolite (100 TP / 80 TP / Master): This item increases a Pokemon's Defence and Sp. Def if they are not a fully evolved species.

On Mission Creation:
Missions give everyone something to do. They are the main plot devices within this RP site. The CP cost of a mission is the most variable out of any other type of user created content, and thus the most complicated. On the other hand, this allows for more freedom and customization. Use the following guidelines, and everything will go over smoothly:
There are two similar formulas for calculating how many CPs a mission will cost. The main difference between the two is whether you are posting the mission to a Location's mission board or an Organization's mission board. If you are posting your mission on a Location's mission board, use the following formula:
Posting your mission on an Organization's mission board does cost a little more CP, but at the same time, makes the organization more appealing. Here is the formula:
Mission Title: (This can be anything you like. Anyone involved in this mission should include this title at the top of every IC post for as long as they are in the mission.)
Description: (In one to three paragraphs, describe to everyone the basics of the mission. Do this in-character, as if you were the person actually requesting this mission.)
Objectives: (In a clear, out of character manor, list all major goals that must be completed in order for the mission to be a success. You can set a minimum number of posts, total and/or per person. You can list any Pokemon or AI Trainers that need to be defeated. These objectives are completely at your discretion.)
Number of Participants: (List a minimum and a maximum number of trainers that can take on this mission.)
Rewards: (Rewards are given out to each trainer when they complete the mission. This can be bonus Trainer Points or items that would normally cost Trainer Points.)

(The total number of TP offered as rewards) + (The total TP value of all items offered as rewards) = (Total Value of Rewards)

The total number of TP offered as rewards) + (The total TP value of all items offered as rewards) = (Total Value of Rewards)
([Total Value of Rewards] / 9) x (0.6 x [Maximum Number of Participants]) = Total CP Cost of Mission (Rounded up to the next whole number)

The Short on “Pokemon: New World”
Well, in short, New World is a Pokemon RP in which you can create a trainer who starts from humble beginnings, beginning with a Pokedex and a single Pokeball. Your trainer will then go on to do — well — whatever you want them to (within the bounds of reason and common sense, please), meeting other trainers and building their Pokemon team along the way! Our RP is based on a point system where every post you make IC earns you — and your character — RP points that you can use to create content (new locations/characters) and buy your character IC items (Pokeballs/potions). Although this might sound like a lot, it’s not that hard to get used to, and I’ll be there to tag you if you trip up or forget anything, so no pressure ;)
We’re always looking for new members, so hop right along in if this sounds like your cup of tea!

How to Create Your First Trainer:
To get a character approved, first post the CS in the OOC tab and tag me @Dusksong or PM the CS to me so I can approve it. Once approved, their username and character will be added to the official listings, and you’re free to post your first post IC! Although you will eventually have to option of creating multiple characters — including ones of different rank — your first character must be a beginner rank trainer without a single Pokemon on hand at the start of their journey IC. Only one character is allowed upon joining our RP, and further characters can be created with CP that you save up with posts. Below is the example of a CS for a first character, filled out with explanations in parentheses.
Feel free to customize your CS or add information to it — creativity is encouraged! Feel free to browse our CS section to creep on other users, or to just get some idea of what you’re doing.

Biography: (Tell us a little about your character's past, which can be as detailed or vague as you’d like. Preferably on the more detailed side if possible, though)

On Keeping Track of Stats:
Your stats (personal CP and character TP) change with every post and each user will be responsible for keeping track of their own stats by adding a hider at the end of their posts that lists all their trainers’ stats as well as their projected CP count. Here is an example stat box:
And here it is in code form for any copy-paste action that needs to happen. Remove periods from [.hr] boxes so that they show up as lines:
The TP system is only loosely monitored, so it is essentially a trust system. I trust you to keep track of your own characters stats, adding them correctly after each posting. Any questions can be directed to me, as well as any concerns about suspicious behavior. No post in the IC section — other than location posts — should go without a Stat box so as to keep things tidy. The only thing I will be directly responsible for is a user’s CP count, but it would be appreciated if you kept count of that in your Stat box as well.

Writing your first IC post:
Firstly I want to say that our RP should never be “intimidating,” no matter the number of posts we have in each section. For one, you’re not required to read a single one upon starting, nor do you need to. Getting brushed up on our “lore” can be as simple as reading the Manual and asking questions if needed. Everything that has happened IC is negligible depending on how you wish to start your character out on their journey, and here are two suggestions on how:
Solo Post your way to Glory:
Buddy Up or Find your Flock:
All in all, it’s just a choice between whether you’d like to start by posting with others, or by solo posting. You could very well rope a few friends (or strangers, even) into joining the RP with you and form your own group. The possibilities are endless, so don’t let the “start” be the “end!”
Solo Post your way to Glory:
One can never go wrong with solo posting, especially if they want their trainer to have a specific first experience or simply don’t know where to begin. Write your way into the IC world with your first few posts, getting used to your character as you do, and maybe after you’ll have a better idea as to which group of trainers they’d be likely to tag along with. This is the easiest way to start out, and your character can easily “chance” upon other trainers on their travels, should you figure out their group or desire some trainer-trainer interaction. Solo posting would also mean that you’d also have more flexible posting times (being whenever you want, really), which is a good option if you’re busy IRL. Plus, you can make up NPC’s and solo post your way to glory!
Buddy Up or Find your Flock:
If you’re looking to immediately post with others IC, you will have to read some posts, mainly because you have to decide which “group” you wish to join. Groups generally have different posting times, and I personally get back to people within 1-3 days IRL, so be aware of your own availability when joining a group. If you can honor time commitments — meaning that you’ll post within a reasonable amount of time, and inform your group members when you are not available to — joining a group sounds right for you!
Now, picking a group requires some skimming, but feel free to just skim over the most recent ones. Some questions to think about: Which group of trainers will your character fit well into? Which group is out on some adventure that interests you as a writer? If one group jumps out at you, tag the user OOC and inquire about their group — are they currently able to take in another character in the story, and what exactly is happening/has happened for the group IC? You might have to explain some generalities about your character, if you haven’t gotten your CS approved and posted yet, but if they’re open to taking in your character, then you can get started right away!

Miscellaneous Final Words:
This thread is a reestablishment of our former thread located here since @Balthazar007 has handed the official GM responsibilities to me. We’re in the early process of making the hop to this thread, so IC posts might look like they’re continuing from some unseen (but not unlinked) thread. Feel free to check out past posts out, because they’ll be sitting there collecting dust.
Also, just in case the label on the thread didn’t make it clear, we’re always open, always looking, and whatever other “always” that comes with “always posting.” I’m here because I love Pokemon (and am not in the least ashamed to admit it), and I’m guessing you are too, so get out there and post! OOC or IC, it doesn’t matter. Be creative, be sensible, be reasonable, and have fun out there!
