I had a Gengar once! Only ever played one installment where I had trade-evolution Pokemon... But I had a Gengar, a Steelix, and a Rhyperior in it... Oh god, such a powerhouse teeeaaam... They WRECKED.

I did a playthrough with a full team of 5 Eevee-lutions on Soulsilver + 1 Pidgeot. That team was really well balanced, but a little underpowered. So adorable though - incomparably cute.

@Scout Kingdra is one of my favourites. I always want him.
Hubby always has Alakazam and Gengar.
He's impossible to beat.
Except the one time i battled him with a Houndoom. I fucked him up. He was so mad XD

@Carantathraiel Alakazam was the other one!! I also had a Kingdra once - that takes a lot of patience because his defense is absolutely awful... At least, it was when I had him, but it was cool because he had some excellent moves to learn. I have not gone through a game in a long time where I didn't have an Umbreon (if Eevee was available) and/or a Lucario. They're my favorites. Mew is tied for favorite legendary with Lugia, definitely. Hoenn (third generation) games always have a Flygon in my team and most often an Aggron. In Silver/Gold it was always, ALWAYS a Tyranitar.

i have favourite pokemon, and then i have favourite battle pokemon.
If possible, i love having a houndoom and kingdra to fight with.
but favourite pokemon? Rapidash and Donphan

Really? Yeah, I've got my "If Pokemon were real and I was a trainer for battling" and then my "If Pokemon were real and I just raised them because they're awesome" teams. I have an RP I made but never actually put out that's a darker, more realistic Pokemon world where battling is far less common and the "Catch 'Em All" era was a really dark time in human history because it's absolutely morbid. I'll play it someday, but I wanna wait until just the right time to bring it out for the public.

Anyway, yeah, the number of different lists of favorite pokemon is far too long. Everytime somebody says 'What's your favorite pokemon?" I'm like... "Uh, you're gonna give me 900 things to love and I pick one? No, specify my favorite on which list." XD
