I make appearances now and then on Discord, very true at that. But the cats? Sadly the tiger passed away, but he was fairly old and it was time for him to move on. The lion and lioness, brother and sister, are quite youthful and spry; the former is a bit intimidated by me whereas the latter tries to spend all her time interacting.

An unfortunate reality, @VATROU, @Carantathraiel. It was one of those things you just accept and know going in before it even transpires in the first place. As for the Guild's Discord? I am deeply displeased with the idea and how it has been employed. It has essentially virtually replicated some of the negative behaviors here, transposed them entirely, or just spread them (really those to blame for them) further.

A good idea, but the execution needs be ironed out and harshly.

I have yet to go on a forum and see a discord or any type of group chat be a good thing.

Best case scenario: The chat is frequented by toxic users, and they post on the forum less. But when they post, they often bring their chat room drama with them.

Worst case scenario: The chat is frequented by better users, and they stop posting in the forum.

My Enjin group is actually lovely.
We have the set of rules pinned, the usual, no religion talk, no spats, keep issues in DM and speak to the admins.
But theres never any issues.
Save one girl who can't understand tones well and constantly snaps at people for sarcastic comments XD

Generally we all just talk about games, roleplay, and life.

The RPG channel, on the other hand, the moment I joined, one of the admins pitched a fit because another admin was talking to me in the help channel. the 12 year olds were there. and the only notifications i got were mods telling people to stop acting like immature twats.

I just want to talk to people about "boring" things like roleplays, games, life, etc. than seeing rude insults crudely disguised as cringy sex jokes... and then I'm seen as a retard who can't appreciate such jokes because I "ain't cool enough to understand". Of course those kind of classless jokes makes absolutely no sense to me; also, it's tiring to deal with these douches and having to filter out their childish nonsense 24/7 when I can spend that brainpower on something more constructive, like writing better RP responses, and talk to people who deserve my attention.

I can let loose myself and have some fun, but at least I know when to stop fooling around and draw a line between occasional sarcasm and being a downright asshole who have no respect for others.

And so, I'm back here, to hang out in this relaxing coven! Yay :D

Well, some people really live for the trolling. if you have someone like that and a professional victim, there's always going to be drama. But some people like it I guess.

Just kinda curious since I haven't officially joined any role plays yet, but is this normal?

In particular I'm talking about 4 comments down were everyone and the GM take turns picking apart a user's post. I read the post, and their criticism isn't wrong, but it feels a little excessive? Wouldn't this have been better taken to PMs where everyone involved could have saved face?

I wouldn't really call that picking apart the post. The 4th comment in mention is really only on one thing. So is the followup by a different person saying "Yeah he just about summed it up". The GM's response is a debatable, but that's not for me to say.

It's fairly basic writing etiquette that was neglected in context of the criticism. Maybe it's because I have thick skin at this point, but the comment comes off fine to me.

@BrokenPromise As Junk has said, I think that criticism sounds alright to me. Besides, we are all here to learn to be better at roleplaying/writing on top of having fun with others. It's only when the comment becomes along the lines of "U SUCK kthxbai" for no apparent reason or constructive explanation given, then that person is an ass.

As for the GM's comments on the character interactions, personally I think the GM has a point - the main difference in roleplaying as opposed to other types of writing is that you have to go out your way to interact with other players' characters. If you're going to just write posts of your own characters interacting with random NPCs that weren't created for such use (basically just doing your own plot or thing in other people's games without asking the GM), why don't you go write your own novel instead?

I am guilty of "micromanagement" at times because I used to read a lot of murder mystery novels and have the habit to pick up details and contradictions that most people would normally glaze over, but sometimes it helps especially when you're supposed to do a "realistic" RP. It's not convincing if they are such awkward mistakes everywhere in the story, yeah.
