Hi there! I'm not really very good at introductions so I'll spare everyone that bit and jump right into describing what I have so far. Honestly, I don't have much as this idea keeps getting interrupted every time I really start putting some thought into it. Really, all I've got is a few ideas, then a period, but I think it's enough to build on with some help. Apologies if this seems a bit haphazard. IT's late, I'm tired, but if I go to sleep before finishing this I'll likely never start.
Graces
Graces are this world's equivalent of haki; ie the use of one's life force to accomplish certain feats. There called graces here because the society of this world is run by a pope like figure instead of six old men in a room, and most of the population believes in a single deity. Who this deity is, I'm not entirely sure as of yet. As of now I have a few ideas for how the graces will be categorized:
colored Graces Here the graces will be based on colors and a symbolization of that color. The first level would be called the primary colors blue(mind), yellow (spirit) and red (body). Each color will have its own kind of ability. The colors could be further mixed together to create new effects. The next level will be called the secondary graces which would consist of purple(mind + body), orange(spirit + body) and Green(mind + spirit.) Then so on and so on. The more graces in a mix, the more energy and focus draining it is.
Leveled Graces The second type of Graces would be a lot simpler as there wouldn't be any levels, just an ascending order of graces. The lower the grace is on the totem pole the easier it is to do. While the higher level graces take more focus and energy to control.
I haven't figured out most of the graces yet. The only one I've settled on for sure at the moment would be what I'm currently calling 'Divine Grace' This grace is similar to a white version of the Busoshoku haki from one piece. This grace allows a character to directly damage someone's soul. This is done when an attack does damage to a user's body. The area of the damage is transferred directly into the user's soul.
Note: A person's soul in this world takes up the exact same area as the person its attached to so its not the efficient way to take some out, but it does have its moments.
Spirit SeedsThis world's version of Devil Fruits. They Look like tiny marbles with various designs on them, but are in actuality prisons for various spiritual entities. Upon consumption a person's body and soul fuse with the entity inside the spirit seed in a parasitical relationship. The spirit gets to survive off its host soul and body and in exchange grants the user the use of its power.
There will be three types of spirit seeds, and a sub group:
Angels(Logia)Angelic spirit seeds grant two main abilities. The first is the ability to control an element. The second is the ability to shift into an angelic form, which turns the user's entire body into said element. The personalities of angelic spirits tend to be very self righteous, moral, and look down on others. That being said, they are usually the first ones in line to throw themselves along with their user into harm's way as self sacrifices are one of the highest acts a living being could accomplish.
Demons(Zohan) Demons allow the users to morph their bodies into a creature or legendary beasts. This can be done in total as a man with a demonic spirit could go all the way into a turtle, or halfway so that the user will have the attributes of both human and turtle. Demons tend to be selfish, cynical and view morals as more advirosry then anything else. When in battle demons are very bloodthirsty and have a bad habit of toying with their opponents.
Heroes(Paramecia)A hero seed grants the user's body any kind of ability which would not fall within the realm of a demon's or an angel's seed. Personality wise heroes vary greatly without any single trait really standing out except for the face that they are very passionate and let their hearts make decisions.
reapers. A reaper spirit is similar to a hero's in that its biggest defining attribute is it doesn't grant what an angel or demon can, but what separates it from a hero is that instead of changing the user's body it grants the user a special item which they can summon at a moment's notice. Reapers personalities are like heroes but instead of fallowing their hearts a reaper always follows logical thought.
The Spirit's presence Normally, a spirit's consciousness remains dormant within the host's body but the more a user utilizes and masters its abilities the more it starts waking up. However, the spirit can be lulled to sleep by either spacing apart the user of its power or using a certain type of grace (I'm thinking it'll either be called paradise grace or eternal Grace). As a spirit becomes more conscious it's personality starts bleeding into that of the user's and the two's wills will eventually clash and result in one of several situations: The two remain equal in their battle for control of the body, the subjugates the spirit, the spirit subjugates the user, or the two form a partnership and work together. (I'm not sure how the various levels will work but they'll probably be constant battles and I'd like the one with the user subjugating the spirit to act similar to a bankai from bleach.)
WeaknessesDespite how powerful a spirit user may be there are still ways to cause it harm. Hopefully, we (I along with whoever would like to help me flesh this out) would be able to come up with a few more disadvantages.
Divine Grace A spirit's greatest weakness is being attacked by divine grace, because a spirit takes several times the amount of damage a regular human soul would, and each hit weakens the spirit and forces it into a dormant state. So it is possible to kill a spirit with leaving the human body intact. Once a user's spirit has been destroyed that user can never again fuse with another spiritual entity.
Note: A spirit like a regular human soul can eventually recover from damage done by divine grace.
