Have you ever wanted to join the Arena, but were put off by the perceived Ill-tempered, short fused, argumentative, and quite frankly bullish personalities said to roam those war torn lands? Well, we - the argumentative and Ill-tempered few - would like to invite newcomers to our messy home.

The Arena's very own premiere middle man is offering to host a bevy of new fighters, and has called in some of his chips to get them mentored by some of the best fighters of the Arena universe.

The tournament itself will be hosted in the legendary Lobby of the Liaison, where popular Arena tournament, the Way of the Warrior, is hosted. Consider this, the winner of the tournament will Automatically have a spot in the Way of the Warrior, meaning they'll be accepted without worrying for a spot.

The rules of the tournament are few, the mentors will help walk you through the rules we commonly use in the arena. The scale will be lower tier, minor powers to provide a diverse, yet easy to engage level of combat for those who may not have tried their hand before.

Other rules will be discussed forthwith.

Restrictions apply.

Also feel free to talk to me if you need help creating your first arena character.

I'll also walk you through the details of where to fight (battlegrounds) and the effects of location on combat.

@Rilla I've got few that I'd like to ask:

-how are power levels catagorized? I've heard of the power levels like low tier of high tier but I'm not actually sure what that means. What's considered low or high tier?

-how are fight results determined? This is the biggest piece of confusion for me. How do I know if my character beat another persons character or vice versa? Is it a matter of just discussing it or what?

It depends on where you are, but mainly its split into three tiers

Low, which is basically magic manipulation and non powered combat.

Mid Power, is the widest range, but is from basic manipulation up o right around god level power.

High, is where you start getting into Super high level manipulation of everything,i including omnipotence, etc.

The Arena is like an advanced game of chess, so to win, yo have to get our opponent to a point where they can't escape. They either have to take the final blow, or be to a point where they can't escape certain death, or - even - dead.

As far a connecting hits, you just have to put your opponent in a position where they can't avoid the hit.

Lol sounds like you are trying to romanticise and glorify what seems to essentially be a battle of ego's.

I'll be interested to see how much wit comes into play.
I'm imaging character set up to be very important.
Can't wait to give it a go.

Pardon me chiming in, but i'd like to emphasize the incredibly ambigious nature of tiers. There's no actual unanimous classification, with everybody having their own interpretation of what these mean, depending on the community they hail from. For example, to me, low-tier and unpowered are two entierly different things, low-tier defined as a power level within which a human melee combatant is still capable to compete, even at a disadvantage, as opposed to having no chance of winning at all.

The above, of course, is strictly my opinion and defenitions. What of that applies to the tournament itself will probably be clear once the rules and regulations for character sheets will be announced.

Ah, and just in case Rilla's explanation doesn't fully satisfy: mentioned above, character sheets aim to provide the concrete limitations and capabilities of the character, as well as explain the way their abilities function. Said information, combined with combat posts, which provide detail on the exact circumstances the combatants are in and the actions they perform - such as their positioning, stance, any momentum resulting from actions, the speed and trajectory of their motions and ect. - is exactly what allows you to not only to announce yourself victor in a fight, but prove the legitimacy of such a claim and have it be firmly grounded.

It only been comes a real battle of egos when you get in there with some people who, by any and all means, do not want to lose.

Also Vordak there is right. Arena sheets tend to have to have more detail. Mainly because anythibg left up to interpretation, is just that. If you don't mention where the attack is aiming, or how strong/what the effects are, then the opponent can dictate it and that'll lead to arguments.

Some of the most fun I've had has been in the arena.

It could be a round robin style tournament rather than single elimination. That way everyone gets their 3 fights in even with just 4 people active. Probably better that way in general, since nobody gets kicked out first round before they even have a learning chance.

I'm interested as well (enough that I finally stopped hesitating and made an account here, haha). I've done fighting in RPs before, but not really ever in this sort of environment. It seems interesting, and I'd like to give it a shot.

I could fill in a spot cause I didn't make the other tournament.

I'm an intermediate but I could hold back and roll with some beginners, or maybe some sort of bonus battle?
