Just as Kolton was about to walk into the room he was being led into, he heard her say she loved him. Chills ran down his arms as well as a tightness in his chest began to grow, keeping his head pointed forward as he disappeared through the doorway.
"See you soon," he murmured under his breath.
"What was that?" one of the stylists asked Kolton, to which he just shook his head and decided to turn their attention away. Kolton clapped his hands in front of him and rubbed them together.
"So, you ready for this?!" He stood there staring at them with a smirk, but it soon faded when he didn't get a verbal response in return. All he received was a hand gesturing towards a tub off to the right behind Kol.
Guess not, Kol thought to himself as he unbuckled his belt and unbuttoned his pants, letting them fall to the floor around his ankles.
"Sad that District 12 has more class than The Capitol. Haven't even had a single date and you're already expecting me to take off my clothes." Kolton shakes his head, going about his business peeling his clothing off.. his whole body relaxed when he heard a chuckle or two from one of the stylists behind him. At least he was making some kind of headway with one of them, maybe his sense of humor wouldn't be wasted after all with these people. Slowly he stepped into the tub as the water was already running and was nearly filled, one stylist turning the water off just as he stepped in, the water reaching just an inch from the top. Almost right away, they began scrubbing him over, shaving and cutting hair all over his body as he tried to make some form of conversation with his newfound
friends.
"So, come here often?" The female shook her head and met Kolton's eyes, asking with equally heavy sarcasm in her voice, "Bet they just can't get enough of you back in 12, eh?" To that, Kolton smirked and completely submerged himself beneath the tub's liquid. He let himself imagine he was immersed in the cool waters of the lake near their district, the one Silver and he had to sneak off to just to reach. Something so simple was honestly a luxury memory because all he was really thinking about was his impending death. He sure wouldn't be making it home alive, if he could help it.
A cringing thought then crossed his mind that nearly took the breath right from him, forcing him to sit up out of the water. His stylists began going to town on him, trimming his hair, shaving him up proper to give him a more innocent, child-like appearance. The thought kept ringing true in his mind, and couldn't seem to be shaken.
If by some chance Silver was to...
die in that arena before him, he'd do everything in his power to win it, for her. Kolton didn't want to think of that possibility, though. He didn't want to go home. Not when, upon his return, he'd never see his best friend again. His best friend that he very much loved and cared for.
A new thought crossed into Kolton's mind, this time forcing a small smile. Their kiss, and the fact Silver
actually slapped him. It was almost something out of a movie, and Kol couldn't help but see the humor in it. They had always tossed playful banter back and forth over the years, but never in a million of those years would Kolton had ever guessed Silver had harbored feelings for him. He'd always thought her other friend Andrew was
the one for her.
Maybe he still could be. As much as it killed Kolton to think about it, if his plan worked out and he could get her back home safe and sound,
they could be together. She would have someone to hold onto, she could still be happy. Kolton trusted Andrew enough that he wasn't concerned about her being alone when this was all over, Andrew would be there for her. Eventually, she would forget about Kol and be happy with the life she'd build for herself.
For the moment, the thought was comforting.
