Heyo, this is Oddsbod, here to odds some bods and R some PGs.

I've been involved with RPGs for a good few years, mostly in the InheritanceForums crowd if that rings any bells, but I've never really gone outside those communities. I kinda fell outta that group for the last year, a little more, but I'd really like to get back into RPing again, though I'm not super sure how things work on a much bigger site and community like this one. (The standard rituals practiced in my distant and long lost land was a Discussion thread in the Discussion Section to probe for interest and hold all OOC discussion, a Character thread in the Character Section to hold all character sheets for a specific RPG, then a game thread in the actual RPG section for the game itself. Nothing dice-oriented, all writing based, pretty strict standards for writing and storytelling.)

Any advice on getting started here? How'll things be different from the kinds of games I'm used to? Are there any Sick Memes I should be In Tune With?

seems like your previous experience is pretty much like it is here. I don't know if you used separate threads in different forums, but if you join or start an rp on here, the OOC and character threads are automatically joined with the IC. So no need to make different threads, just one. :]

some of the threads you'll probably enjoy perusing are the "what are you listening to" thread about music, and then there's another thread where they rate music, then there's even another thread where they rate videogame music. I find myself browsing those sometimes. It is a bit slow here, but it's generally pretty active.

Start with the Interest Check. Once you find an IntCheck you like, or you make one and get the interest you're looking for to go forward with your RP, you'll just make the RP thread: that thread has IC/OOC/Character tabs. So it's about the same as you're used to, just more centralized so there's less actual threads.
