Potential Roleplay: Any Naruto Fans?

I posted this in 1x1 but there is also potential for a group. So I shifted it her.

Just a sort of pre-interest check question.
I want to know if there are any folks that are still interested in Naruto?
I have a idea that takes place in the universe (canon characters and plot is optional).
It involves character and team/village development.
Our own characters and their legacies.
It has been a while since I've played Naruto. However, in the past, often people tend to just drop their characters in the existing verse without really considering their personal opportunities. Often tacking them onto existing teams or just having them float along with the canon plot

I am okay with including canon plot and characters. But I would also like to include an original aspect.
Original villains. Original squads. Original senseis. Original relationships. Et cetera.

Potentially a small or large group. Or 1x1. Depending on amount of interest.

I thought I would try my luck and see where it goes.

The minimum would be casual posts, one liners or a skimpy paragraph wouldn't work for me.

Let me know your thoughts before I go all out and explain.

Hmmm... To be honest, Naruto was always one of those series where I liked the world setting but wasn't too keen on the plot, so I might be potentially interested in the small group idea. Have an old character I keep wanting to reuse, for one thing, so hmmm.

Hmm, Naruto? Well, I say take the setting and to hell with the plot. THere's good elements in the plot but... it's something that just gets worse as things go on. But maybe this could do better than the last Naruto RP I was in...

Though, small group or not and canon or not, it'd be kind of helpful in my opinion if the Hyuuga still exist. Since I also have an old idea to reuse. xD

The best thing to do with Naruto RPs is to take the world and get rid of canon characters/plot.

Glad to see some interest here!
I thought it would have been a long shot.
So, if we go through with this, it seems agreeable that we stick to original characters and an original plot. Yes?

To leave the plot more fluid and a less rigged path that isn't directed toward a singular goal.

I'm mostly indifferent as long as none of the canon characters/plot are involved in any way. Player autonomy is important to me but I can also see where GM's need to guide the players to a plot point that they have written.

Understood. Sounds exactly what I had in mind. Although there may be ultimate goals, there will be steps in between. Mini-plots and sides quests.

Well, as I said--OC's and original plot is good with me, just don't have a setting entirely devoid of canon character elements. I don't have many ideas. D:

I presume they mean the base concept of the setting, the clans, how chakra works, and so forth. You could probably play around with the setting and shape the mythologies how you want since KIshimoto is a fucking idiot and has too many inconsistencies in his work. In my experience with Naruto RPs it’s best to keep in mind the heart of the series and themes you like and go from there.

Also, a Sandbox RP is otherwise known as a character-driven story that often gives agency to the players for storytelling and a Linear RP is a narrative-driven story that often gives agency to the GM for plot direction. Both are legitimate forms. With that said I wish you luck as a fellow Naruto RPer, though between my own RP and other obligations all I can do is chime in like this – as I doubt I have the time to cohesively participate.

I see.
I will definitely be keeping the things that make the Nruto verse, Naruto. Notable and definitive features are a given. I will keep the chakra and it's workings, the styles of fighting, clan, et cetera to keep the appeal of Naruto.

Pretty much the first two, even if the characters tend to be radically different (and hopefully without the bizarre writing that kept stuffing more and more powers in the Sharingan when the interesting part was the base idea), since otherwise... I'd have to come up with a totally new character idea. xD

Passing by just to say that I'm interested if you're still accepting. Has been a long time since I've had the opportunity of playing around with an OC in a AU Naruto RP. All the freaking weebs I've meet want to make OCs interacting (Read as Being Shipped) with Canon characters for some bullshit reason. Truly annoying.
