[OOC] The Elemental King: All Hope Lost!

To my old master,
By the time you read this, I will be long dead. When the sun rises, the tyrant king will invade my city. I believed in you, master. You gave me a shimmer of hope as you spoke the prophecy. Well now I wish I didn't. You were wrong, the prophecy is wrong. The children of destiny are never coming, we are alone in this world, and we have no choice but to suffer.

The Prophecy
Was never wrong!

When all hope is lost, eight children of destiny will be born under the elemental gods. Protected and hidden within the magically enchanted places of old. When the destined children intertwine, the tyrant king will fall. The ancient places of old. Said to be hidden and protected by magic. Only those destined allowed to pass through.

I have a question, before I start building my character. Is this RP set on Earth? And if so, when on Earth? Because I don't think anyone's mentioned that, and it's going to affect my decisions somewhat.

@DracoLunaris Atlantis would be populated with Atlantians. Think Aquaman or Aquaboy. Humans who can breath under water, control water, talk to sea creatures, etc.

What's the range of ages that you're looking for in this RP? Also is this a blend of like modern day/future stuff and fantasy? It just occured to me that I don't actually know much about your world other than that we are the Chosen Children.

@Pathfinder For age, 10-19. The world is a mix of futuristic and Modern. The world is almost completely conquered except a few countries left to conquer. The buildings are all brick like modern day. There is a huge metal tower that reaches the Clouds. This metal is Zanoblight. A futuristic metal. I'll probably give more details later.

Personality: Amèlie is a bright, powerful, and curious young girl. She's always ready and willing to help someone who needs it if she can, and she is driven more than anything by wanderlust. She knows that the world is beautiful, and would like to see it one day.

Bio: Amèlie was born in the village of Bugarach, France, and has never left it. Bugarach, a tiny commune near Carcassonne with a population of about 300 people, has always been something of a hub for the divine and the spiritual, but not exactly in the way you may be expecting. Bugarach is named for the Pic de Bugarach, a beautiful mountain at whose foot the commune is built. However, there is something odd about the mountain. Analysis of the mountain's stone has indicated that the top layers of the mountain's stone are older than its lower layers. There is a perfectly reasonable geological explanation for this, but that hasn't stopped many from attributing it to otherworldly forces. Likely the most famous theory as to how the mountain is the way it is states that a dangerous race of aliens are buried beneath the mountain, and will emerged to destroy and/or conquer the world at the end of the Mesopotamian Long Count Calendar in 2012. Naturally, 2012 has come and gone, but the mountain has remained a point of interest for esoteric spiritual groups throughout France and throughout the world.

One such group that holds the mountain in such high regard is the Gardiens de l'aube, a strange group of spiritualists who venerate the sun as well as the mountain. They believe that the mountain is a living being who wills the sun to rise each day. They have a few complex spiritual beliefs and practices that I could go into, but the one that's most relevant to this discussion is a prophecy that one day, the Morning Mother will give unto the world her only child, the Child of the Dawn, who is prophesied to rid the world of a great evil, and bring light to Earth's darkest hour.

Amèlie, to circle back, was born in the shadow of the Mountain and has never left her commune. Her parents are devoted members of the GDA, and even legally changed their last name to Lumière (which is literally the French word for light) as a show of devotion to the Morning Mother. Amèlie was born on a cool spring morning and spent all her life devoted to helping her little village thrive. One day, however, her father was beaten badly by a rowdy group of visiting tourists. Shocked and terrified, Amèlie charged the drunken reprobates and tried to scare them off. Her entire body glowed with blinding white light, scaring the drunks away without much trouble. Then, panicked, she rushed over to her father and simply willed him back to health. This was the first time either of these things had happened, and Amèlie was as surprised as anyone else. But the GDA rejoiced, because these abilities must have meant that Amèlie, who they had kept safe and raised all these years, was the Child of Dawn, the Chosen One, destined to save the world. For years, the GDA kept Amèlie safe and helped her to focus her powers.

On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, the GDA presented Amèlie with a few days' worth of supplies, provided her with a good, strong horse, and told her that the time had come. Amèlie set off into the world, excited to see all that she had not yet had the chance to, and eager to fulfill her destiny.

Pet Personality: Madeline is loyal and steadfast, and will rarely leave Amèlie's side if there is not a good reason to do so. Amèlie has cared for Madeline since she was born, and they share a special bond as a result of this. It's as if they can actually understand one another.

@The Onejust how futuristic are we talking for the elemental king rp? also how magical? like are all areas as magic-oriented, or are there certain areas that don't think much of it? i dont have a clear image of the world you have in mind...

I was thinking about making my character (lightning) live near and work in the power plant that contains Thor's rod. To keep the Norse theme, I wanted her to be Swedish and was inspired by these two drawings x x to create a neighborhood that is a little ignorant on magic and more focused on the technology they power. It'd be a small community, and my character would be ignorant of her role in the prophecy.

The bio sheet Conch Shell VII posted kinda psyched me out in terms of the story i had in mind D: any advice?

@Conch Shell VII Good Cs. I'd change your power if I were you though. Your light element has the power to heal anyway. How about something like bone manipulation, density manipulation, body manipulation, etc? Now what are your questions?

@deyinger Animals could literally be anything as long as it is reasonable and makes sense. So if you REALLY wanted, yes you could have a turtle or tortoise.

For technology, think along the lines of Star Strek. They aren't advanced enough for a Star Gate but it's pretty close. You can have villages, towns or cities focused on technology if you wanted. Does that help?

Could you outline what our powers actually are? You said that Light could already heal but we don't know that, in fact we still don't know much of anything other than we have powers and need to fight this Tyrant eventually. How does this person rule their lands? How does our powers/magic fit into the story? Do other people have powers? You've given us a goal but not much else in terms of worldbuilding, just vague statements that I can't really build a character around.

@Pathfinder Most of this will be explained as I make The Elemental King.

But the big difference between Element and Power is and element, say Light can do everything you can think of with Light based powers. Such as healing, moving through the light, bending and controlling the light, etc.

The powers are powers that have no connection to the Elements. Nobody in the world has powers except those who are destined to help the Elemental Chosen Ones and the Elemental Chosen Ones themselves. This will be explained in the Elemental King's backstory.

An example of a power is Bone manipulation. It has no connection to any of the Elementals. And just seems to be a non Elemental power.

For the Elemental King, as it will be explained in his character sheet, he rules with fear. He kills every child and newborn baby he can find in the world to try and stop the Prophecy from coming. He rules the majority of the world except for one or two places he has yet to conquer. If somebody disobeys his law they are executed. However if you keep to the law, not have children and pay the protection fee, you will be safe and his guards will make sure of it otherwise you are ignored by guards, nor they or he will help you or he may have his guards kill you themselves.

So basically only the important people have special abilities while everyone else is just normal and has to use technology. If this guy is killing every child he finds then I guess we are all hidden away right, or was that mandated after we were born?

@Pathfinder Yes, all the Chosen Ones are hidden, such as Atlantis.

Telum // Big WIP

Appearance:

A caucasion male of undeterminate geneology, Telum stands at 6'2 and weighs 200 lbs. He possesses blunt, intense features that when mixed with his withering stare artificially ages the young man to appear in his mid to late twenties. However what is more likely to draw attention is the paleness of his skin, the total lack of any and all body hair, and his eyes being a blue so deep that they edge into purple.

Personality: It'd be easy to describe Telum as just as robotic as his companion, a creature who sticks to their routines and fulfils their duty without question. Emotions roll off him like water, his only apparent emotion being one of indifferent stoicism as he goes through the motions of his purpose. However the truth of the matter is that a maelstrom is brewing beneath the surface, a lifetime of repressed emotions and a growing worry that he is no different than a tool has created a ticking time bomb with no telling what will happen when it blows.

On a lighter note Telum has a strong sense of camaraderie with his fellow Telum Agents, he has a strong sense of respect, and has his own moral code that, while maybe not conventional to normal people, he sticks to rigidly.

Bio: Telum's life began as a serial number among many deep within The Mine, a hidden away military base formed from the remnants of the various scientists and military personnel that did not bow down the the Elemental King.

@Pathfinder Not bad, good idea for a power. However if you want to, you can just have him able to see perfectly in the dark without that weakness. If you wanted a better power however, you could go with blood manipulation, but completely up to you.
