Why would I have been? London is a horrible place, everybody I know that has gone there has either been stabbed or someone tried to stab them... Ok, that's an exageration, but my dad worked in London for 5 years and was mugged at knife-point twice, one of my friends went there about a year or two ago, and someone chased him through Peckham trying to knife him, and my Uncle was knifed, in Croydon when he was on shore-leave from the Merchant Navy... Oh, he lived, but he has convinced me that London is a knify-stabby shithole. At least it's better than New York/Detroit/Phoenix.

All in all, If I never go near London again, nothing of value will be lost. Wanna go to a big city and not get stabbed, I suggest either Birmingham or Edinburgh.

Yes. Being that it can still run an offline virus scan, but any attempts to run the OS result in nothing happening... I think it rules out any "structural" problems, and it's probably the hard disc again. Or, might not be. I've no way of knowing. Could be that XP just died.
