So apparently there's John. John is a high-school student who owns a katana for some reasons you'll read about. Eventually some event sets his story into motion and he begins wandering around the Hub Planet.
I'd still buy you a Happy Meal if you don't cringe at my "OC".
PS: He is meant to be in the Hub Planet. Whatever it is called.
Height: 65" (somewhat tall for his age)
Weight: 55 kg
Age: About 16 years old
Race: Human
Power Tier: 3
Influence Level (In this world - for now): 1
John rarely even uses his talents in public. He does not use them often because he had once used them for violence, which you will might read about later. He looks generic, and he blends in well with the public. He usually settles disputes with a mixture of diplomacy and force.
Personality:
John is the typical stoic Deadpan Snarker. He does find insults funny, but this doesn't result in pure arrogance.
John here may be somewhat young, but he can see social patterns and injustices. He has learned more than somebody his age due to early schooling, and is one of the youngest in class. This may cause people to brand him as "mature", but he doesn't see himself as so. He does everything to prevent his supernatural abilities from being publicly exposed, for he is not the type that craves bloodshed and honor.
Aside from that, he enjoys Oriental cuisine. He also has a blunt taste in music and video games, as seen by others.
SUMMARY: Seemingly normal student is actually a powerful swashbuckling magical swordsman who is known as a criminal in some alternate dimension which had a medieval civilization. His true power is sealed in some crystal kept far, far, away in who-knows-where.
He usually wears a jacket despite how warm the weather is. He is also unnaturally tall for his age, and he is noted for his slender figure. The topmost picture above depicts most of his features, except his facial expression should resemble this.
Edit: Changed the age, changed the theme song, changed the picture (once again)

The Backstory
Yes, it is very long.
John Ianskidowski (forget that crappy last name) was born to an average middle-class family that lived in Milworth City: a nondescript city populated mostly by humans, with the occasional sentient robot, or anthropomorphic fox, or talking squid esper, or whatever weirdo would drop by the train station and either just visit or make a living in the city. He lived a regular life, and his parents left him alone at home every night, assuming that he would be fast asleep. The only remarkable thing about him back them was that he was the fastest runner in his batch. The bullies at school would lose tons of calories while chasing him, so they practically owe him a favor.
But one day, within a dream, he discovered that an unusual spirit would want to bond with him. He accepted the bond, and let the spirit merge itself with his own soul. Soon enough, he discovered that the spirit he had cradled was the spirit of some ancient robot* swordsman who died in a war between races. The ancient creature's trusty blade had somehow bonded to the spirit. The sword shifted to John's liking: a pair of long swords that our main character could wield at will. He also inherited the ancient's ability to manipulate ki and generate it using the energy in his surroundings.
However, his own spirit was very compatible with the spirit of the ancient swordsman robot-thing and he gained one of the most unbelievably overpowered abilities: he could use his inner energy to control time. It was as if destiny had provided for him. He had become a warrior of immeasurable strength. Coincidentally, a masked wanderer travelling the inter-dimensional plane witnessed the creation of a potential legend and offered him another gift, a crystal. The crystal was like a magic rune, and it contained an incantation whicht could teleport the user to the traveler's home land: the medieval land of Kiarath.
So what does such an abomination do when let loose?
Of course, screw around with everyone else!
*Not really robots, just walking humanoid hunks of metal. More like the Warforged from Dungeons & Dragons.

So John was like "oh cool i am unstoppable now" but really did not have any grand plans in mind. He did not aim for world domination, nor planned to engrave his fearful name in the unfathomable depths of history. He decided to wander the land and discover the mystery behind his powers. He was very quiet and stoic, and so his trip was rather blunt and he made hardly any friends on the way. Despite that, he learned about the very inner workings of magic and saw came to know many different races. He would wander the land casually wearing his signature jacket, and would only engage in fights when utterly necessary.
It would take years for one to learn swordsmanship, but John, being the lucky smartass he is, would shift back to his home world and develop new techniques by reading children's manga and using the all-knowingthat HAS to be a joke Internet from time to time. Eventually, he arrived at Heaven's Peak, an ancient ruin. The ruins contained many technological wonders, such as machines that could harness ki and remains of titanic giant machines that were supposedly used in warfare. However, he had yet to discover that the ancient ruins where home to a high-ranking criminal group called "The Brotherhood". Our poor little rascal was seen as an intruder by the criminals.
And, of course, there had to be a massive battle.
In the end, the battle was a stalemate. John was beginning to get immensely bored, so he ended up becoming one of The Brotherhood's elite warriors. He discovered that The Brotherhood was actually just a small group of freelancers until a nefarious necromancer who went by the name of Alcatraz joined their ranks. He would battle The Order, a group of imperial magic-wielding warriors with his armies of undead warriors and powerful arcane magic spells and flashily sport the emblem of The Brotherhood on his robes. Everybody else in the group had some sort of resentment towards him, but stayed quiet and scared of Alcatraz's power.
Alcatraz's inflated ego would give John constant bouts of constipation.

So Johnny Boy would continue being the casual faggot he was and screw around with Order warriors from time to time. Unfortunately for him, he soon felt compelled to destroy the Order. He felt an intense hatred towards each and every one of them and felt that each of them were full of themselves. He began to roam the outskirts of the Order palace and pick fights with Order knights.
Of course, many were slaughtered. The lucky survivors quit the Order and lived to tell the tale of the frightful menace. He soon earned the nickname "The Cold-Blooded Blademaster". Eventually, the news reached the newly-appointed Grandmaster Hikaru. The sheer power and skilled techniques displayed by John in combat opted him to get his fellow Masters to fight him.
The problem was, the Masters would be comparable to your typical flashy anime fighters who would use powerful but easily predictable attacks. It would probably take three paragraphs for one of then to charge their ultimate attacks. The swordsmen would use unrealistically large swords to battle, thus making them sluggish in movement. They had immense strength and could swing these swords quickly, but were outspeeded by our hero-turned-villain. The magicians were actually superior and would often resort to wide-reaching attacks, but John was just....too fast.
Eventually, John had to fight Hikaru. Hikaru was a master swordsman and magician. However, his sword was inconveniently big, and it would take him half a broadcasted television show episode to mutter out the name of one of his strongest attacks, and 3 episodes to actually use it. The win obviously went to John.
At the time John was standing over Hikaru's badly mangled corpse, he conveniently broke from the spell. It turned out that Alcatraz had used a magic spell on him. One that would provoke intense anger and hatred. Much worse, he was right in front of Hikaru's family.
So what was the fate of our wretched antagonist? What ill curse was to be placed upon him
John did not cry, since that would be too manly. He quietly approached the last remaining Master Mage and sealed transferred the energy that composed his weapon in one of her crystalline runes. His true form would be sealed there forever, unless the sealer was to free the spirit weapon from it's abode. He then used the magic crystal he received from the wanderer to create an inter-dimensional portal and exited undramatically.
He hid his beloved jacket and the magic crystal somewhere in his closet and got a matching lock for said closet. He now lives his regular life indifferently as a typical high school student because w h y n o t

Abilites, Skills, and Masteries
- (3) Ki Manipulation: According to traditional Chinese beliefs, ki permeates everything and flows around and through the body. Using breathing techniques and his remaining internal power, John can control the flow of ki throughout and outside the body. He can manipulate it in many different ways:
- (4) Destructive Manipulation: John can use ki like a Super Saiyan or Element Bender can. He can materialize ki, and use it to weave pain and destruction. His iteration of Ki is elementally neutral, and it is not capable of doing such things like extinguishing flame or vaporizing water. With his uncapped control over the energy, there is lots of room for improvisation. He may prioritize AOE damage, or stick with quick and accurate attacks.
- (3) Physical Enhancement: Monks often need unbroken focus or proper stances to control the flow of ki within their bodies. However, John is unusually talented at manipulating ki. He only needs to use proper breathing techniques to harness his internal energy, and doing so he can reach the peaks of mankind's physical capabilities.
- (3) Blade Fortification: John can channel energy within a blade, making it almost an extension of his body. This makes the blade sharper, and it allows him to cut through very sturdy metals. The harder the metal, the more energy it will take to cut.
- (3) Swordplay: His swordsmanship techniques are unconventional and sloppy, but are still quick and precise and nonetheless deadly. John does not confirm to any style, but uses an assortment of techniques and stances.
- (2) Fisticuffs: John is also somewhat talented at implementing his body as a lethal weapon ,but his style is still unorthodox.
- (3) Reflexes: John has very quick reflexes. They aren't merely just reflexes, as instinct also comes into play here. It works as some sort of Spider Sense. His instincts help him avoid creatures with ominous desires. However, his reflexes aren't entirely infallible. He'd have to sense the gunman before he shoots the gun, for he wouldn't be able to dodge a revolver bullet zooming at Mach speed right at his face.
- (4) "Perception": When John concentrates on a motile object or creature, its movements will become clear to him. As a result, he is conditioned to see right through quick movements that would look faded to other regular people. This conditions his mind to work faster, and his reflexes will reach its peak. It will appear to John that the target is moving more slowly, but he does not alter time at all in any way by doing this. His right eye will also glow a light blue as he does this.
John's abilities in unsealed form will be shown later on when the story calls for it
Items
- (3-4*) "Unwilling Tyrant"
It may look like your typical katana at first, but when the blade is fortified with ki, it looks like thisAfter the entire medieval hanky-panky incident, John resumed living his regular life as a student.
One day, he took a walk out of town. Out of curiosity, and having saved some lunch money, he visited an underground market. He saw countless atrocities, such as the selling of organs and hiring of hitmen. None of these shocked John, since he had learned of these crimes beforehand.
Soon, he met a...strange person. He seemed old, but his posture remained uptight and jaunty.
The old man sat beside a wagon filled with old weapons. Suddenly, he approached John. He had sensed his abnormally strong flow of ki. He then introduced himself as Old Man Han, who was apparently a travelling merchant who sold weapons fit for "supernatural martial artists".
John ended up emptying his wallet. He got this cool sword in return.
John's primary weapon. The blade was designed specifically to be used by a ki user, and it can be fortified with ki easily. He usually keeps it sheathed using an inconspicuous expandable tube.
*Regular tier 3, increases when fortified with ki - (1) Jacket
John got a new one for his birthday. Because jackets never, ever, EVER go out of style.
