(Because I like this opening. Lol.)
Sun 4/8 – Morning – Bus
A silver haired teen sat on the bus, his younger brother, Ishidaiku, behind him in another seat, playing with an old wooden yoyo and listening to music on his smart phone. Kaze, the silver haired boy looked at his phone as a pi pi noise drew his attention. It was a text from a number he didn’t recognize, nor could he tell as the number was actually a jumble of punctuation and other images. The text read “Looking to make a better life?” followed by a URL. He thought nothing of it and deleted the text. He then looked at the purple haired girl, Misaki, that had gotten on a few stops ago, now asleep. He had spoken to her and traded information, as she was a country girl moving to the big city. He was doing the opposite. The girl had the idea that the two could email each other to help the other get used to their new surroundings. He then recalled a website that she had told him about. Supposedly it was an urban legend, but the website would find you and have you write your greatest wishes on it and submit, even if you didn’t want to.
Misaki swore that it happened to her, and the “greatest wish” she had was to make plenty of friends. He thought it was silly, but didn’t badger her about it. Suddenly his phone made the pi pi noise once more, and he looked to see that his phone was on the internet, a message saying “thank you” with a snake wrapped around it appeared. He tried to go to the last page to see what he had done, but an error appeared that stated that the page didn’t exist. He dismissed it and closed his phone. Another 3 hours to go. Ugh. Well, Misaki has the right idea, he thought. He turned around and asked his brother to wake him when they arrived. He then began to sleep.
Sun 4/8 - ??? - ???
Kaze had quickly fallen asleep, but began to awake when he heard the faint tones of a piano. His eyes remained closed as he sat. Faintly he heard a man’s voice begin speaking, almost in reassurance to itself.
”Alright, got it. Persona Persona Persona Persona. Social Link Social Link Social Link.” it said, shuffling paper around.
Kaze was genuinely curious what was going on now and opened his eyes. He blinked once, twice, five times before his eyes finally adjusted to the rooms light. The first thing he noticed was the man sitting at across from him at a table. The man was lightly hunched with a nose like a pig’s. The next thing he noticed was the strange blue café setting he now sat in. Flanking the pig nosed man were a boy and a girl, twins that were maybe 10 years old at most. The boy wore a Deep Blue school uniform with a domed cap, and the girl wore a sailor uniform the same shade of Deep Blue with a Black skirt. On her head was a rounded Sun Hat. A number of other characters were in various places throughout the Café, but before he could take them in, the Pig nosed man spoke.
“Ah, you’re awake. Welcome to the Velvet Room, a room between matter and dream. You are a guest and only certain people bound by a contract are allowed in here.” The man said. Kaze attempted to open his mouth, but the man continued.
“My name is Quasimodo, and I am glad to make your acquaintance. Now, what is your name?”
“uh… Sh-shison Kaze.” Kaze said still confused.
“Now,” Quasimodo said as he got out a small hand book, and read through it. “Let’s do a card reading. You believe in Fourtune Telling, no?
“Actually –“ Kaze began, again being cut off.
“Alright, let me see here,” he said as he pulled out a deck of cards and the same handbook before putting it back on the table and shuffling the deck, then placing them on the table spread out, ”Pick three…”
Kaze looked confused at the cards, but was given a nod by the twins that seemed to reassure him. He chose the three, and the rest were shuffled into the deck. Quasimodo began to flip them one by one, the first having a picture of a tower upside down, and the second having a moon, the final card a man with a packstick.
“Hmm… I think this deck is rigged. Anyways, the tower means calamity on the way. The moon card represents "hesitation" and "mystery". So, something will happen… a mystery, some kind of misfortune or something, and a mystery that will need to be solved. I believe I’m reading that right. The last one, the fool, is a blank slate. Think of it as a joker in a normal deck.”
The girl twin pulled on the man’s sleeve, [00aeef] “Sir, you didn’t quite do it right.” She said.
The boy twin chimed in after, [00aeef] “Well, you got the reading right, just not the delivery.” he said.
“He got the gist of it, give me a break, it’s only my 3rd reading ever. Oh, I almost forgot to introduce you two,” he began, before pulling them in closely. “These two precious children are my assistants, they live here, like most of the rest of us.”
”I’m Ploutos.” the boy said, “and I’m Sophia.” the girl said, “reporting for duty.” The two chimed in together. “We’ll be here to help you through your journey.”
Suddenly, a small timer with a depiction of some kind of cartoon devil went off on the table.
“Oh, our time is up for now. But don’t worry, we’ll see each other again real soon. Bye-bye now.” Quasimodo said as he smiled and waved goodbye to Kaze, the room beginning to blacken as sleep hit Kaze’s eyes once more.
4/8 – Afternoon - Hinasho Bus Station
”Bro. Bro wake up! We’re here!”
Kaze woke up with a start and was met by his brother’s face two inches from his own.
“Woah! Watch it.” Ishidaiku said dodging his brother.
“Sorry, I had a strange dream and you startled me.” Kaze said.
“Oh, Kaze. Is this your stop? I’ll be fifty miles down the road, so we might be able to hang out during the breaks. I have your email, you have mine, email me.” the Purple Haired Misaki said seeming to just be waking up herself.
”Count on it. Later Misaki-san.” Kaze said as he gathered his stuff and left the bus with his brother. They stood outside as the bus pulled off.
{color=630460] “Kaze got a girlfriend, kaze got a girlfriend.” Ishidaiku said while pulling some yoyo tricks.
Kaze simply scoffed and checked his phone, a text saying “We’ll be there around 4PM.” from his aunt. Kaze leaned against the wall momentarily, while texting back “We’re here.” upon sending it, he saw a purple SUV pull up and park. A tall well-endowed blonde woman wearing skinny jeans and an orange cleavage revealing top stepped out.
“Oh, Kaze-kun! I can’t believe how much you’ve grown! I haven’t seen you since I changed your diapers.” the woman said running over and giving Kaze a surprisingly strong suffocating hug.
“A-aunt Ch-chizuru. You’re crushing me.” Kaze said.
“Oh,” she said releasing him. ”Sorry about that.”
She then noticed the younger brother standing a few feet from her.
“Oh, and this must be Ishi-chan!” she said going in for a hug, but stopping a ruffling his brown hair. “You must be no older than 10. Your cousin is a couple years younger than you, so you might be able to get along.” She said as she waved for someone to come over from the car. The door opened and a small brown ponytailed girl stepped out, peeking around it shyly.
“H-hi.” the girl said.
”C’mon Sakura. Meet your cousins.” Chizuru said. The girl stepped out and slowly walked over to them, keeping eye contact with the ground.
”Nice to meet you Sakura-chan.” Kaze said offering his hand to the girl. Sakura slowly reached for the hand, tapped it, and then receded behind her mother again. Her mother laughed.
”Don’t worry about Sakura. She’s shy around new people. Let’s grab your bags and get home. Maybe I can show you the sights as we go.” Chizuru said as she grabbed one of the many bags. Kaze, Chizuru, and Ishidaiku quickly packed the car, hopped in, and headed back to town.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The ride was nice, around ten minutes until town finally showed. Chizuru talked about the various things that he could do around town, even though it was small, she made it sound like it was hustling and bustling.
”I have to know about stuff like this, I run a little tourist tower where people can overlook the town and see all the ~Haunted Happenings~” she said, the last part trying to use a foreboding voice.
Ishidaiku looked startled for a moment, “Haunted?”
”It’s just superstition. But it gets us lots of business.” Chizuru said laughing. A gas station showed up on the left of the road with a man sitting at a table near it.
”Oh, there’s Batou-san, a vender from the city. I’m going to stop by here and see if he has anything for Sakura. She loves Sentai.”
Sakura began blushing heavily from the comment. Kaze reassured her it was okay, and that he actually enjoyed them too. The comment seemed to cheer her up. The car then pulled in and the group got out. Ishi chose to go inside and use part of his small allowance on a snack. Chizuru took Sakura to the table of figurines and dvds before turning back towards Kaze.
”Oh, your parents told me you’re kind of religious or something right? Well there’s an old shrine up that path. No one’s been there for years, but the spirits still go when praised,… Or something like that.”
Kaze nodded and went up to the Torri gates. After a small dirt trail, he managed to find the shrine. He knelt in prayer for the safe travel and for the upcoming year. However, a sound of fabric drew his attention and he looked up, a Shrine Maiden coming from behind it. She was a very plain girl.
“Hi, I haven’t seen you around before. Of course, I haven’t seen anyone in quite a while. The Shrine’s not very popular these days you see.”
Kaze nodded, a knowing look on his face.
”Yeah, I know the feeling. In the city, there aren’t many practitioners anymore either.”
“Oh, you’re from the big city? It’ll probably be pretty boring around here for you then. Blessings to you for the upcoming year.” She said grasping Kaze’s hands for a short prayer, and then releasing him. “If you ever want to come support the Shrine, stop by. I’ve gotta get going for practice.”
Kaze nodded as the girl took off. It was brief, but he did get to do a prayer of thanks. He headed back towards the van, and began to feel queasy, and clammy. Hopefully he hadn’t caught anything from the bus.
”Ready to go? Sakura got her fill today.”
”Yeah.” Kaze said as he got in and tried to shake off the feeling.
4/8 –Evening – Tsukashima residence
The rest of the ride allowed Kaze to see the local mall, the down town area, and finally a residential area. He was not feeling well at all though.
”Hey, you don’t look well. You should probably head straight to bed. I don’t want you missing your first day tomorrow.” Chizuru told him as the family unpacked the car. Kaze nodded, and was quickly show to his Futon.
