Rothelion

Age: 423
Gender: Male
Age: 423
Race: Mûl elf
Appearance:

Roth is an elf of eclectic tastes. Long has he abandoned the elegance and refinement his kind are typically known for. These days he favors an impact of presence. When donned in full travel attire, few would immediately identify Roth to be an elf at all, mostly due to the terrifying horned skull mask obscuring his elven visage. The horns curve around his pointed ears, diminishing their prominence.

To balance macabre with prestige, Roth also typically wears a mantle of thick wolf’s fur, silken and black, which gives the illusion of broadening his narrow elven shoulders. Trailing from the mantle is a simple, rust-colored halfcape, woven from lightweight linen. The rest of him is rather drab, composed of a mix of patchwork leather armor and glimpses of chainmail.

A true elf remains concealed beneath the attire, looking roughly thirty in human years, with tawny skin and a light frame. His long, auburn hair is shaved to the scalp on one side of his head and fettered with the occasional small braid.

Personality:

Four centuries have worn Roth down to a nub, even shortening his name to a single syllable from its once lengthy (and barely pronounceable) glory. Gone are the days that Rothelion would look down his nose at humans and their burly dwarven counterparts. Hell, it has to have been decades since he even killed one in defense of the eastern wood. Now he lives, eats, and travels among the common races, with only a soured, vestigial regard for his own former kindred.

The are some parts of him that of course remain unmistakably elven. Though Roth gets as drunk and violent as any human (with stunning regularity!), he still cuts a pristine image rather than grunting and farting with the rest of the tavern crowd. His speech is clean and refined, and in combat, his movements are fluid and almost dancelike.

He’s personable to some, and intolerable to others. Maintaining a personal sense of honor and dignity, he makes friends quickly only if they’re amenable to his terms: either be respectable, or be interesting.

History:

Formerly Lebethron, Rothelion has not been back to his ancient home since he turned his back on his people’s ways, even divorcing himself from his family name, Tristuval. As far as most can tell, he’s been making his own way as a sellsword and traveling to wherever the money is. He’ll take nearly any job, so long as it isn’t despicable, either working in a group or working alone. His travels have taken him to disparate ends of the world, high and low, mundane and depraved.

Rothelion seldom brags about his experiences, but will speak of them as matter of fact when on the topic. One thing he does bring up more often than most are his dealings with cultists. Indeed his work history shows a strong preference for any job concerning rooting out, killing, and interrogating cultists. His hatred for them is remarkable.

His history before joining the ranks of the Mûl is reluctant to be made known, yet encompassing full centuries of his long life, it inescapably exists. Roth speaks little of it, but at his most drunken he will confess that in another age, he did have a wife, children, grandchildren, and so on. And despite all of his anger and self destruction suggesting that he like so many others has lost his family to some unspeakable tragedy, he’ll mention, with a shrug, that they do still live. Safe within the borders of their own insular society.

They’re better off without him.

Equipment:

♠ Long knife
♠ Rucksack containing rations, coin, what-have-you
♠ A golden ear cuff, a token of matrimony
♠ Several colored quartz stones in filigrees attached to a keyring, the different colors signifying each of his three children.
♠ Most notably, his bladed staff, carried on his back.

Example post (Optional):

Other:

Rothelion has a heightened sense for demonic magic.

BLOODLINE

AGE
37

EQUIPMENT
Wears light armor with a lightweight golden alloy chest piece, shoulder piece, forearm and leg plating and a cloak
A blade
Multiple throwing knives
Grappler Hook
Bow, Arrows and a quiver
Poison and antidote vials.
Smoke bombs/flash bombs

PERSONALITY
An assassin, a killer, a cold murderer. He is all those things as it is his job to be those things in order to serve humanity. You would think that someone in this line of work would be emotionless, cruel, or even a psychopath..and he might be but even if he is he doesn't show it. Outside the job he is cheerful up to the point of not being annoying, easy going and optimistic. That is a facade that he puts on, not for others more than for himself. Even if things are grim you strap a smile on your face and go on, even if there is no light in the end you shouldn't forget the part of you that was human, that small part that still is. If he loses himself in the darkness, what's to separate him from the monsters and demons that he hunts?

BIOGRAPHY
Not much to say for his upbringing as no one knows anything about him before he took the mantel of a hired knife. Slowly but surely he started gaining a reputation as the best and in just a coupe of years of non stop contract killing he got to the top of his profession. That's where he was scouted by the army to fight against the Mad King. He was given coin and a constant stream of missions. He wasn't allowed to free lance anymore as the army could always need him at a moment's notice. Maybe to track and kill a spy that escaped with their battle plans? Hunt down an escaped prisoner? Assassinate high ranking officials of the Mad King's army? He did them all and even if his achievements aren't shared with the public, no one who knew him can say that he didn't help the forces of the living drastically. But in the end that didn't matter. Even if they were winning, no one could stand up to that hell spawned monstrosity that he later learned to be a dragon. But since that thing emerged something awoke in him. He felt...more distant, his emotions slipping away as were the bodily feelings like pain and pleasure. Something happened to him that day and now he isn't only fighting for the allies, he is fighting for himself, to preserve whatever humanity he has left.

To do that he needs to kill the Mad King and the Dragon. He will find a way to end this once and for all.

MAGIC
Hunter's Eye - With a simple incantation he uses magic to enhance his vision thus allowing him to see at great distances, gain night vision and see through fog/smoke or dust.
Time Slow - He casts a spell which slows time for him, letting him better react to the dangers around him, take in the surroundings and have more time to process a plan. This has severe side effects depending on how much it is used within a short time period.

Male

6'1" | 172 lbs | Wingspan - 6 feet

Balthair is handsome as expected from an Arial. He has immaculate skin and platinum-blonde hair of the texture of feathers. There are even a few feathers mixed into his silken blades. His skin dimly glows, his irises though white are lightly outlined in black halos. His complexion is snowy with gentle sheens of silver. His armor is a mixture of Lightning Stone plates and Cloud Thread [See the “Equipment” section]. A smug smile is always slightly cocked on his face and an Earthborn could tower over him, and he will still appear to be looking down. The air of arrogance is thick with this one—again, as expected. Balthair wields two weapons: his primary is a claymore named Lightning Edge, and his second are twin short swords named Cloud and Squall (get it?).

Balthair is a stereotypical Arial. He is arrogant and 100% confident in his skill and abilities. He may talk-the-talk, but he can also walk-the-walk. His arrogance makes him fearless. He puts on a good front that makes him come off as nothing but a cocky son of a bitch, but he is a champion for a reason. He will often stretch a fight to assess a formidable opponent or yield when he knows he will be defeated. Of course, he would never admit to failure, loss, or defeat. A White Knight never fails for as long as he is alive! In truth, a White Knight only fulfills his or her purpose in death to die in service to the Sky Queen. Balthair, like all Arials, sees Earthborns as inferior. This doesn’t make him too popular with allies but perhaps overtime he will learn humility. For now, Balthair aids the Earthborn because they share a common enemy and that is all. He has a cynical outlook on life. He believes that once the threat is all dealt with that the Earthborn would just go back to killing each other and he would return to the skies to serve his queen. Huh! He might not ever see them again. What’s the point of making friends?

If by now you couldn’t figure out that Balthair is a natural bastard, then maybe you and him will make the best of comrades. He is very vocal about his opinions. He will speak up if he feels a plan is stupid, stinks, and just speak his thoughts aloud whether people want to hear them or not. If ever a comrade actually manages to receive a compliment from the Arial, they should take it as an achievement for Balthair rarely compliments Earthborns.

I wrote the history when I explained the Race, but I will express some character development desires in this section. Balthair is quite the dick, but overtime, as he travels and finds himself growing closer to his team, his arrogance and cynical outlook will lighten. I would also be interested in Balthair developing a relationship with a non-Arial character. It is something unheard of to the Arials, and it would be interesting to see.

  • Lightning Stone Plate Armor The armor makes Balthair immune to lightning or alterations in the electromagnetic field. It is a necessary armor if any Arial is to safely use weapons forged from Lightning Stone. The armor is light and conducts electricity easily.
  • Cloud Thread is a material found only in Sepherine. Threads are taken from the clouds and woven on a magic loom into clothing. Cloud Thread makes the wearer feel as light as a feather, allowing the wearer to fly and fight for lengthy periods.
  • Lightning Edge is the name of Balthair's claymore. It is a claymore forged from lightning stone that is capable of throwing chains of lightning with its every swing. Upon contact with a metal weapon, the user will find themselves being electrocuted. On a stormy night or day, Balthair can use Lightning Edge to cast the special ability Smite. A powerful spear of lightning will drop down from the clouds on the intended targets, juicing them with so much volts of electricity they explode.
  • Cloud and Squall are the twin short swords magnetically attached to Balthair's greaves. Like, Lightning Edge, the short swords can send small whips of lightning at an enemy. Balthair can join the two blades with a chain of lightning and whirl them like linked sickles.
  • Rain Water a skin of rain water that Balthair carries with him. Most will see him take a few sips of water, but he rarely eats or drinks. He hardly feels the urge.

  • Jetstream an attack where Balthair flies by an enemy or enemies so fast that the winds from his passing will bowl them over.
  • Light Scatter with a strong flap from his wings, Balthair will release a cloud of white feathers that will suddenly flash with a blinding light to disorient and distract an enemy or enemies.
  • Thunder Clap When Blathair is equipped with Cloud and Squall, he can clang the weapons together to have them produce a thunderous thoom, sending destructive decibels in a cone at multiple enemies.

On a stormy day or night, Balthair will often fly into the clouds to recharge his lighting stone weapons and armor. He can only do so with natural lightning. If he goes too long without a storm, then his weapons and armor will become average stone.
