This role play is a fandom of the Bloody Roar series. No you do not have to have played Bloody Roar in order to join this game. There is a timeline posted in this opening post, so be sure to read it when you get there. Bloody Roar was a very old-school Playstation fighting game. Likewise, in tribute to the fighting game genre, this role play will have fighting game elements such as: a fighter who can take out an entire S.W.A.T. team with just their fists (more like claws); the old wandering warrior; X-Force style groups; GM-events; and of course, actual tournaments to be held in the arena for those characters who like to duke it out. The character design will also be similarly themed. Instead of powers, you will be listing fighting abilities and techniques. You will also choose a martial art that your character follows. It can even be a made-up martial art such as a family martial art passed down from generation to generation. Now in this game, the fighters had a second form, which was their true form. Their true form was a beast form very were-like in appearance. I am only allowing writers to choose actual animals for their beast form (no mythical creatures). What about dinosaurs? Dinosaurs are not mythical, so yes, you can theme them after a dinosaur. When you show interest in this game, please be sure to mention what animal you would like. This allows me to keep track of animal trends, so I can put a plug on any animal that is overused as a beast form. I do not want 10 tiger players in this game. So please, be sure to mention what animal you would like. I will be checking to see if you even read this conveniently underlined/last few lines in this paragraph. There is no excuse why you miss reading this.

Timeline.

This timeline details events from the video games. I am presenting them as a summary to the overall timeline. This role play will only be using original characters and not canon characters from the series, but read this section as familiarization to the overall RP. You will read later what this game's story line will be, and these corporations, groups, etc. are only introduced in this section of the OP. I am only posting summaries of Bloody Roar 1-3 because the games after that trilogy were shit and not worth mentioning. I know, I use the opening of primary fury as a promo for the game, but don't worry about that. Those games are trash!

Bloody Roar

"The unrelenting call of the wild courses through my body. The tremble of these fingers cannot be stopped. The real me...The facade of a man crumbles and my true self awakens with a primal scream."

Bloody Roar 2

Bloody Roar 3

Game Starting Date: December 2025

The world is in a high state of tension with the Zoanthrope Libration Front (ZLF) giving those good Zoanthropes who desire only to live in harmony among the humans a bad name. The ZLF believe that the Zoanthropes are at the top of the food chain and that humans are a byproduct of a failure to evolve. The ZLF had once been established to free the Zoanthropes victim to Tylon Corporation brainwashing and experimentation. Once the Tylon Corporation fell, the group lost purpose, and after the humans finding their liberating actions to be more like terrorism, the ZLF as well as all Zoanthropes were permanently branded as enemies to human kind.

Fear became widespread throughout the world. How could they tell the Zoanthropes from humans? Anyone could be a Zoanthrope terrorist waiting to harm humans at any moment. To address these concerns, the U.S. Department of Defense was the first to revive the Tylon Corporation. The Tylon Corporation’s new name was Neo Corp. The Neo Corp’s mission was to develop technology that exposed a Zoanthrope in his or her human guise. Zoanthropes were exposed, captured, and carted off to special prisons designed to contain them. They were packed away like animals in a zoo. The treatment of the Zoanthropes touched the hearts of several humanitarians and protests began to sprout throughout the world.

The United Nations got together to discuss the treatment of the Zoanthropes. It was ruled that the Zoanthropes would be set free on one condition. They were to surrender their identities to a special online registry called the Online Zoanthrope Data Bank, OZDB or “Oz” (as it is most commonly called), and they were to receive a special microchip that law enforcement and special detectors will be able to use to identify them. Those Zoanthropes not registered in Oz or bearing a chip will be considered terrorists, and they will be arrested.

While majority of the Zoanthropes have submitted to the chip and registration, there still exist those Zoanthropes in violent neighborhoods or areas of the world who rebel against it. The main organization that violently rebels against The Great and All Powerful Oz is the ZLF. The Zoanthropes who have submitted to Oz have been allowed to join certain military around the world as special task forces. The Zoanthrope task forces’s missions are to go after ZLF terrorists to include Zoanthropes who aren’t terrorists but who don’t bear the chip either.

The chipped Zoanthrope resume their lives, living harmoniously among the humans (to an extent for racism still exists) and can mostly make a normal life for themselves. Neo Corp still continues to develop new technology, but they also have secretly gone rogue in their research and once again started to experiment on abducted Zoanthropes, creating abominations in their mission to design the ultimate soldier.

There are many back stories that can be created for your character:
  • The Original Tylon Abductees – These were the first Zoanthropes who were abducted by the Tylon Corporation when it used to be called the Tylon Corporation. These Zoanthropes have escaped since and there’s a possibility that they know or are acquainted with each other.
  • Zoanthrope Liberation Front Member – These Zoanthropes desire a world solely for their kind. While they are initially merciful to fellow Zoanthropes, those Zoanthropes who are considered subjects of human domination will be treated like the enemy. This group is an infamous terrorist group that have cells worldwide. The leader position is open to any writer who wishes to accept the role, otherwise it will be a NPC.
  • Zoanthrope Citizen – Your Zoanthrope has submitted to Oz and the chip. This Zoanthrope mostly lives a normal life, but racism still exists in the world, and it may be something he or she may never escape.
  • Zoanthrope Rogue – Your Zoanthrope is not apart of the ZLF and refuses to submit to Oz. These Zoanthropes live in special parts of the world where the governments can’t touch them. Their communities are also considered refuges for ZLF units. These communities are persecuted by Zoanthrope Task Groups. Other names for these types of Zoanthropes are “Ferals” or “Strays.”
  • Zoanthrope Task Groups – The task groups’ missions are to protect human and Zoanthrope society from terrorism and rogue Zoanthropes. They seek and destroy human and ZLF terrorist cells in their respective countries, sometimes joining together in large coalitions such as the European Coalition, Asia Coalition, Africa Coalition, and the Southern Coalition (Australia and New Zealand), etc. While their missions seem just several humanitarians reveal these units in the media often committing atrocities similar to the terrorists they vow to capture.

The paths a character can take are very broad. Use the information in this game so far to just create whatever back story you want for your character. I encourage writers to interact so if you want to create characters who are siblings, good friends, rivals, etc. Then you can. I will try to make sure that all characters are somewhat familiar with each other. Not all the characters know each other, but at least one other writer will know another writer’s character.

I will be dropping GM events throughout the game, so this game will run in a sandbox manner with a guided SL. Do not worry. There isn’t a game that I currently GM where I didn’t do my job as a GM and give you guys something interesting to deal with. As the GM, my role is to guide the story and manage the characters let into it. I cannot make you have a good time; I cannot make you interact with other writers; I cannot make you have endless inspiration; and I cannot make you stay in the game. So please bring something interesting to the table. My most successful RPs have been with writers who interact with each other, get to know each other, communicate, and treat each other fairly, respectfully, and equally. I would like for this game to be that game. Now I digress. Let’s get onto character creation!

I encourage you to design this CS, however you want. It shows love and dedication when you do. Be sure to keep images scaled down if you use them and feel free to add youtube videos for character themes or whatever you want. Saying it now. The beast you choose does not determine if a character is stronger than another. Just because Apes are super strong IRL does not mean an ape will beat everyone. Your character's strength is solely determined by how well you play him or her in combat.

1. Do not come to this game to argue. If you read over this recruitment thread, and saw something that you didn't like, then move on.
2. Whatever the GM says goes. I try to be fair to the best of my ability. However, I do not try to please the world nor do I care to. If we discuss an issue and we can't seem to come to an agreement, then it is best that the issue is dropped.
3. Do not whine if you see "x" amount of players choosing this species, job, fighting style, country, weapon, etc. I am regulating the character trends. If you want to bitch about it, then you can take it somewhere else. This is a No Bitch Zone (NBZ). Anyone who sees a player doing this, please be sure to remind them. All complaining does is make writers afraid to choose the character they want, and then they get all scared, and then THEY start whining, and then I have a whiny OOC. Don't do it. Let the GM do the GM's job.
4. Images. Be mindful of the size of your images. If it is too big for the screen, then put a hider around it or make it a url.
5. Read my Game. I did not write this for my health. I wrote this mostly for you than for me. The number one way to get on my shit list is to show me that you didn't read my game. The best way you do this is by frequently asking me questions that are answered in the damn OP. If I suspect you're not thoroughly reading this OP, then I'm going to stop caring and you're not going to be allowed in this game. Why would I allow a person whose hand I would have to hold throughout the game because they don't want to read a freakin' text role play game on a text role play site?
6. GM questions. If you ask a question, mention me. If you're talking to me, mention me. If you want my attention mention me because that is what that button is for. If it looks like I ignored you, 99.9% of the time it is because you didn't mention me and I lost your comment or question in the OOC flood. Mention me. Mention me. Mention me. I have to repeat this because people don't do it.
7. Be open and friendly. I am very big on character interaction. It is often overlooked in games. Please collaborate with other writers in this game. This game will become way more interesting if you do.
8. Romance. I like romance. Some of us do. But if you plan on walking the borderline of the Guild rules, then take it into PMs. Take it where no one can ever see it.
9. Text Color Discipline. Some of you like to use obnoxiously neon-bright colors and ridiculously dark colors. If you are one of those people who like to color their posts, please find a decent color median. No one wants to be blinded by your post and no one wants to have to adjust the brightness levels on their computers in order to read your post. If this sounds too difficult, then just use the default color.
10. COMMUNICATION! Do not bring your real-life drama into the OOC. This RP is not a therapy room. No one will coddle you. If you have to go away for a significant time, then just let the GM know by mentioning me. You do not have to tell me your business. You can just say, "I have an emergency" or "I am going to be on vacation from this time to this time." Or the infamous: "Sorry my crap computer burned out like everybody elses!" You can even let me know if you need to go on hiatus to take a break from the game. You can take a break from this game and return when the muse is up and running again. OMG! Did a GM really say this? Yes, I did. You just have to let me know. I will put a reminder in the character thread. I plan for this game to be long-term. We can only make it such together. Any player who is absent for 30 days without telling me where they are, will be dropped from this game.
11. Have fun. There is only so much I can do as a GM. I cannot make you have fun. I cannot make you enjoy the character that you created. I cannot make you seek out writers to collaborate with. All I do is guide the game and make sure everything goes forward and not backwards. You have to do the rest. So please make the most of this game.

Beasts reserved by players will be listed here. Once a reservation is made, writers have 7 days to submit a CS. After 7 days, the reservation will be dropped.

Age: 31
Current Residence: Kyoto, Japan
Birth Place: Sopron, Hungary
Hometown: Sopron
Gender: Male
Beast: Giant Hornet
Beast Mark:

Mark Location: Left pectoral
Registered: Yes
Role: Zoanthrope Task Force Operator, European Coalition

Height: 5'10"
Z-Height: 7'5" (feet to tip of antennae)
Weight: 172 lbs.
Z-Weight: 255 lbs.
Build: Lean and athletic.
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Basic Description:
Human: Csaba is a man with feathered brown hair, longer on top of his head than it is on the side. The sides are military-cut short, and often lead down to a five o’clock shadow. He bears a carefree expression majority of the time that can become rather stern on a second notice. His human skin is creamy in complexion with scars from knives, claws, teeth - you name it. In prison, there were no rules. His muscles are lean like a Crossfitter. As a soldier for one of many Zoanthrope Task Forces, Csaba wears: this. He doesn’t wear too heavy an armor for it makes transforming a pain in the rear (not to mention the equipment he has to replace every time).

Zoanthrope: Csaba is a giant hornet. His Zoanthrope form resembles a Guyver in appearance: reference. His chitin is dark yellow with black sections of his natural armor. His stingers exist beneath his forearms like two swords that he can retract. The length of his stingers are two-feet and nearly hidden by his fisted strikes. Csaba has five eyes total - three red and small ones between his two main large ones. His wings are five-feet long and fold down his back. When in flight, the sound of his wings rapidly beating tends to terrify his enemies.

Tattoos: N/A

Outfit: When not wearing his coalition uniform, Csaba dresses like any average human would. He wears a white wifebeater, with light-blue jeans, and old sneakers.

Most Prized Possession (Material Value): Z-Scanner - it's the device he uses to scan Zoanthropes to see if they're registered or not. It's a small device about the size of a key fob. A thin green laser shoots out of it that expands up and down the person, scanning them from the feet to the head.
Most Prized Possession (Emotional Value): Memory Book - it's a day-timer, scrap book, just a small notebook with a camo-patterned cover that he uses to keep any information that he feels needs to be remembered inside because he doesn't have the best memory.

Likes: Sweet things - soda, dessert, candy, etc. He also likes meat protein (steaks, burgers, chicken, etc.). He likes being in charge of his life, and he has yet to have that opportunity.
Dislikes: Secondhand smoke, ZLF and other terrorists, Neo Corp, and his military employers.
Goals: Finish his duty on the task force so he can hopefully retire with his past crimes forgiven.
Life's Ambition ( Single greatest goal ): Live his own life as a free man.
Fears: Being sent back to death row or to work for Neo Corp.

Vernacular: Hungarian
Mannerisms: Csaba is down-to-earth but because of the circumstances he currently faces with his employers, he puts his duty before himself. If ordered to kill, he will kill no matter if the person were guilty or innocent. He is selfish and thinks only about his well-being. The world is cruel. It's a reality everyone should accept. When off-duty, others may find Csaba pretty likable. If you're an unregistered Zoanthrope, there's a high chance he already knows. He can be quite a deceiver.
Psychological Condition: Distrust, paranoia, pessimism, and poor memory.
Superstitions: N/A, he doesn't believe in much.
Morals: Neutral, leaning towards bad.

Relationships: Open
Family:
  • Fulop Kiss - Father - Alive
  • Darda Kiss - Mother - Alive

Relatives:
  • Lilika Kiss - Younger Sister - Alive

Friends: Open
Acquaintances: Open
Rivals: Open

Favorite Sayings:

Back Story: Csaba was born to Fulop and Darda Kiss. At the time of his disappearance, Darda was pregnant with his sister Lilika. Csaba was five-years-old and was playing on a playground with other children when his parents didn’t notice the woman that walked off with their child. Her name was Jess de Silva. She was an agent of the Tylon Corporation and having been dressed like a kindergarten teacher, no other parents had suspected the woman. Csaba grew up in the corporation and was exposed to countless amounts of drugs and tests. The drugs messed with his memory, and he no longer remembers ever having a family. De Silva sympathized with him one day, and instead of referring to him as Experiment 4E8A (Four-Echo-Eight-Alpha), she secretly called him by his real name Csaba Kiss. “Don’t you ever forget your real name,” she had told him.

When Csaba was sixteen-years-old, there was a breakout. He didn’t know who started it or how it had happened (later he would learn about the ZLF), but Csaba was determined to be set free. He revolted against his handlers, stinging them to death. A S.W.A.T. unit swarmed the building, killing any Zoanthropes who showed hostility. They found Csaba standing in a test room of swollen and ruptured corpses, victims who had died from anaphylaxis from his stings. He was taken and imprisoned along with many disgruntled beastmen. Zoanthropes were like humans, but worse when it came to institutionalization. Their animalistic instincts came out when kept in captivity for long-term. The carnivores ate the herbivores, there were Alpha matches. Csaba was forced to fight for his life even when he thought minding his business would have protected him. It was while in prison Csaba learned to fight. It was kill or be killed for the human prison guards did nothing to break up the battles. They didn’t care if the Zoanthropes killed or harmed each other. Their job was just to keep them locked up.

It wasn’t until Csaba was twenty-three-years-old that Zoanthrope Task Force groups became a thing. Csaba was given the option to join the task force or to remain in prison for life. Of Course, Csaba joined the task force, and he has been a member ever since.

Current Story: Csaba is part of the Zoanthrope Task Force, European Coalition Group. He has earned the code name “Sting” for his lethality in combat. He was sent to Japan to assist and train one of the Asia Coalition units—and that’s not at all. He has special orders to find any members and accomplices working for the ZLF. Any unregistered Zoanthropes he finds, even if innocent, are to be captured for questioning and receive forced registration or imprisonment. Rumor has it that the Yakuza have been cooperating with the ZLF.

Fighting Style: Jeet Kune Do – Csaba does not fight traditionally with forms or stances. He developed his own form of martial arts under the oppression of the Zoanthrope prison system. While in prison, Csaba was forced to fight to survive, to not be shamed, and defend whatever dignity he had left. He fought and murdered several Zoanthropes, confronting him with various styles whose moves he’s borrowed. He wanted only the most practical moves to be implemented in his techniques, and so those martial artists trained to a specific art find his motions to be unpredictable and confusing. Csaba’s formless stance appears cocky, but he maximizes any effort and any exertion of force into either a single or multiple short and effective strikes. He strikes to break bones, dislocate limbs, and takedown opponents swiftly and effectively. He will often strike to counter another strike, striking swiftly when his opponent attempts to. For grapplers, getting Csaba on the ground is the biggest challenge. He is light on his feet and because he conserves energy with his techniques, he can go for quite the long time. He will choke opponents, gouge out their eyes, and hit them where it hurts. There were no rules in prison and similarly, he believes there are no rules when one’s life is on the line.

In Zoanthrope form, Csaba’s strikes are extremely lethal. If his fist connects with an opponent, his stinger will dart out to deliver a painful sting to his enemy along with a dose of dangerous venom. Too many stings will cause an enemy to suffer anaphylactic shock, cardiac arrest, and multiple organ failure. Csaba will snatch enemies off the ground and carry them into the air where they are helpless to gravity. He has been known to do this to merely have them fall to their deaths. On the battlefield, Csaba in his true form is a nightmare. The helicopter-like buzzing from his wings have struck fear into the bowels of many terrorists.

Bowie Knife (with cord)
Source: Csaba acquired the knife when he joined the Zoanthrope Task Force.
Description: Csaba’s bowie knife is a foot long, black, with a blood groove, line cutter, and serrated spine. The hilt is wrapped in a 550 cord weave and bares a lanyard hole on the pummel where he has tied a durable zip cord. The cord allows him to whip the knife at an enemy and retrieve it. It also makes for a handy choking device for when he needs to strangle someone. If an enemy ever takes a stabbing from this knife, its best he or she leave it in because ripping it out is the worst think you could do. Csaba mostly uses this knife for utility purposes or when performing stealth operations.

Switcheroo
Description: Whether he starts with his left fist or right fist, or left leg or right leg, in either a jab or a kick, Csaba uses the first motion to draw his opponent’s eyes to the moving limb. His opposite fist, or leg, becomes the one delivering the punch or kick as the opponent realizes that the initial movement was a feint all too late.
Weakness: If the feint is performed too much, then it becomes predictable.

Counter Kick
Description: Csaba will swiftly execute a kick that just may counter an opponent’s kick, knee, or jab. The kick is a short burst of strength designed to disarm an enemy or send a shock through their appendages.
Weakness: The counter requires careful timing and enough distance between he and his opponent to successfully execute.

Throat Jab
Description: Csaba will lock his arm about the extended arm of his opponent, this is in the case his opponent performs a long punch. His hand will cup beneath his opponent’s elbow, pushing upwards, and putting pressure on the limb. His other fist will then proceed to jab the opponent in the throat, three consecutive times before he snaps the limb and releases him or her.
Weakness: Csaba takes a risk grabbing an opponent and putting himself in close proximity for an opponent can always attempt to resist and not allow him to perform the strikes.

Rib Smash
Description: Csaba catches an opponent’s fist and slams the forearm of his opposite hand rapidly against his opponent’s chest seven times. If an opponent isn’t wearing protective equipment, then their ribs could face serious harm.
Weakness: Proper protective equipment (PPE) could make this move useless.

Gut Wrench
Description: Csaba will harshly knock aside an opponent’s attempted jab and follow up with a swift punch to his opponent’s gut.
Weakness: PPE can make this blow less effective.

Leg Sweep
Description: Csaba twists and drops into a crouch, his left or his right will then swing around to violently strike his opponent’s ankles, knocking their feet out from under them.
Weakness: Can be jumped over, avoided completely, or jumped on if his opponent anticipates it.

Rising Kick
Description: A combo after performing Leg Sweep, Csaba follows the momentum through, performing a complete 360. As soon as his leg joins his other leg, he pushes through his feet, extending either his left or right leg, and springing in a rising kick toward his opponent’s face.
Weakness: Can be avoided if anticipated, but the move is meant to catch an opponent who manages to avoid Leg Sweep, off-guard. It can be suspected the next time he performs Leg Sweep.

Block
Description: Basic blocking.
Weakness: If he’s wearing PPE, then this method can be effective. Otherwise, not so much.

Bob and Weave
Description: A defensive move where Csaba will sacrifice his offense to bob and weave around his opponent’s strikes.
Weakness: While performing Bob and Weave, Csaba is not attacking thus it could lead to him being on the defensive for a prolonged amount of time and thus prolonging a fight.

Knife Throw
Description: Csaba will try to catch his opponent off-guard by throwing his bowie knife at them for a deadly stab.
Weakness: It can miss and there is a cord on the end that can be cut.

Whirl Blade
Description: Csaba will grab his knife by the cord and whirl it at his opponent to rapidly cut them.
Weakness: With the right protective equipment, the blade could be kicked or deflected back at him.

Lethal Ambush
Description: Csaba drops from above onto his opponent’s shoulders and attempts to strangle them with the cord of his knife.
Weakness: If an enemy is prepared, the cord can be cut with a sharp object.

Stinger (Zoanthrope)
Description: Csaba’s rapid punches have stingers hidden beneath them to inject his enemies full of venom.
Weakness: With proper armor or special PPE, his stingers and venom can be avoided.

Airlift (Zoanthrope)
Description: Csaba ambushes an opponent, snatching them into the air and carrying them high into the sky to drop them from a great height.
Weakness: Avian Zoanthropes can survive this or a prepared Zoanthrope in their human guise.

100 Hornets (Zoantrhope – Ultimate)
Description: Csaba snatches an opponent off the ground and tosses him or her into the air. As the opponent falls, Csaba catches him or her on his stingers and proceeds to rapidly jab them into the opponent’s body. After 100 consecutive hits, he drops them on the ground and drops from the sky on top of them in an explosive stomp.
Weakness: Avian Zoanthropes can avoid the ultimate by flying away before they land on Csaba’s stingers. A sturdy opponent who survives the ultimate may have the advantage for Csaba reverts back to his humanoid form after the completed attack.

@The Harbinger of FerocityI didn't see at all any corrections. Instead, I see you added more moves and overcomplicate the description for each move, which will become a major issue in the main game if that is how you plan to describe your character fighting. I am not in a position to sit and highlight the problem areas at the moment, but I will when I return to my room.

@Holy Soldier, I have made those changes and attempted to simplify them more throughout. Some were renamed as I replaced them altogether to make them more conventional and less complex.

@The Harbinger of Ferocity1. Tiger Claw System needs to have a definied purpose. As I said, it can't be a move, in the case of this move, in the case of that move. If you're going to do that, then make another move specifically for grab/throw and let Tiger System be strikes.

2. Brutal Slash; you use the word "paint." What does painting the face or throat with an elbow even do? Why are you even using the verb "to paint?"

3. Why is this move significally less effective if the opponent is dazed or incapacitated? I would think this would kill them?

These are the comments I have.

@Holy Soldier, is it fair then to assume because that is the school of martial arts, to include its basic techniques and attributes, of Fu Jow Pai and Heihuquan that I then do not need to list its typical attributes under "Fighting Abilities and Techniques"? At this point that seems to be my understanding. It was there to describe an atypical and unusual fighting style that is certainly not common in the Western world, let alone outside China. Either way, I removed it all.

As for the phrase "to paint", it was an informal term I was familiar to with the tactic itself and I dropped the other referenced line because if that was how it was being read, then that certainly is counter to the intent.

@The Harbinger of FerocityYou're forgetting that this is a fighting game. When you play fighting games, they have a move set and those move sets do that ONE thing. One move set is not going to do "if he does this, it'll do that or that or that or if he does this it'll do that instead." It will straight up do that one combo. So this is different from if you were just in the arena and TB battling someone where you can basically have your character anticipate whatever BS you want. If you need some help designing moves just look at any move list for any fighting game and watch how they're executed.

I had understood it as a sort of fighting game, not a fighting game, so that was likely my disconnect, @Holy Soldier. I will probably go and lift a set of abilities from the game and match them at a one-to-one ratio to populate the rest of the entire move set for Theron. As for my character sheet, I had assumed you were not trying to be belligerent, controlling or the like. I figured it was par for course.

@Eggs1. The weakness of Lightning Kicks needs to be better. If you are having him kick an enemy 12 times with no grapple or stun factors involved, then after the first few kicks, I am certain the enemy has a chance to avoid any further kicks.

2. Bullet Kicks weakness you could have said to all other attacks. How is a ranged weapon specifically relevant to this ability?

3. Can you rewrite the weakness of Rapid Strike Fists? It reads funny.

Those are all my comments.

@The Harbinger of FerocityHe's approved you can move him over.
