Detroit wasn't the city it use to be, like most US cities it was advanced. More advanced than anyone could have predicted in this time and age, if it wasn't for the technological revolution that it would still be bankrupt, gang ridden and recovering from the hardest plague this side of the Atlantic. The Yellow Rot, it still oozes with some of the denizens but it's nothing too bad right. Most of the population has recovered, while they could. The vaccine affected most but, some people walk around oozing the fluids of something supernatural. Many speculated it wasn't of this world, but no one could prove it. It would be after 2010 that the world picked itself up from the pandemic, nanomachines, Cybernetics, and medicine was the focus of it all. Weapons took a back seat, but pre-tech weapons were abundant while those that cast plasma or smear hyper lasers into another's chest. Well, those kick around as well.
Detroit had recently been seeing peace, the crime was low thanks to the corporate owned Detroit Police Department. Bought out during when the city filed for bankruptcy, owned by a group of companies each department had its internal conflicts with the rest, the main force, the detectives all scrambling to do their job and trying to stay on top. The pay was ever changing, the days were never the same. When the eighteenth anniversary of 9/11 came along, a crime wave hit the city. Flash riots, murders, rapes, robberies in broad daily. Federal, state, private banks all hit, businesses shattered and houses invaded. Communications outside of Detroit have been dodgy, some say they've been cut off. In wake of this violence and without the help of Illinois of the Federal Government, Mayor Gallant called for the creation of an investigative unit to find the source of the now roaming gangs and mobs and shut them down.
Pulling from all local units and resources the team was formed, some misfits some career policemen and some loose cannons.
What would follow, would be something sinister - like the world has never seen.Hello everyone.
Telecommunications is a roleplay based on a special unit of police officers, whether they are detectives or beat cop they all have special skill sets whether its in investigating or policing. They've been called to a new unit, which has yet to be named. Possibly by the PCs or otherwise, they'll start in the precinct and then either break off or go as a group to start their investigation. Player choice, freedom and exploration will be major mechanics in the roleplay as we'll be exploring the deeper parts of a futuristic Detroit.
Character Development and relations will play hand in hand with the players and NPCS.
There will be a large deal of freedom and flexibility in the story. While I do have a few general plot lines planned and storyboarded, these will serve more as a guideline and inspiration, no fate is pre-determined. Whatever the choices our characters make, the story will start out in Detroit and may move to other parts of the US based on player choice.
All actions have cause and effect, be careful and remember that your character may die.
- CS drive will be run for 1-2 weeks, this is not running on a first come first serve basis.
- When the GM makes decisions please respect them as they are final
- Obey guild rules, or the god-emperor was known as Hank may appear. Mercy is unheard of.
- Any OOC Drama should be dealt with off thread, in PMs or whatever medium that isn't the IC/OOC/CHAR
- CS are to be posted in OOC, or PMed to me. If you have any requests or questions about your character and want to speak so in private.
- Post at least once per week, or you'll be dropped.
- If you are away or unable to post, please let us know.
- One char per player
- Don't god mod/power game or l'll eat you.
- Realistic and semi-realistic (concept art, drawn etc) are allowed. No anime, or it's the bricks for you.
-Do not post in the CS unless you have been approved to post.
- Avoid cliche, your character isn't flawless - far from it.
- Don't omit something in your backstory and bring it in to the rp later on.
- We won't be taking anyone under the IC age of 18.
- The more cybernetics you have the more prone you are to going into cyber-psychosis, essentially seeing others as threats (humans) and trying to murder them. That's when you get PKed, having a few augs is fine but know when enough is enough or you'll die.
- Death is common in these mean streets, try to play smart. That being said, if you die you'll likely stay dead.
- Damage is realistic and medicine is advanced, that being said a quikkstimm wont save you if you got shot a dozen times by Ricky's cylinder shotgun.
- Be mindful of your characters weight and carrying weight. You wont be carrying 10 rifles on you, even if you're augged.
- Characters can have backgrounds in State and Federal agencies but they must be actually working for DPD.
