"But that's the thing. This has been war, just small scale" Cassandra said, "and it has been for twenty odd years"

"War or not, small or not, as long as they shoot at us we'll need to learn how to shoot at them," Ruslan said, really demanding such a training. When Cassie said the war has been going on for twenty years, he said, "And they have only recently escalated their measures toward us?". He wonders whether those twenty years were spent lobbying politicians to approve the use of these measures and preventing the proposal for such cruel actions from leaking into the hands of journalists.

"Since the first gifted was born" Caswie said, "whoever that baby was..., brought the first step to this. We have chosen to be...good. and others have chosen to be bad. I know how to shoot, I can teach easily enough."

"Me and pride can teach since were retired from the military," pride nodded. Then shifted on his feet uncomfortably, "but were going to have to keep pride out of sight when we fight or they'll trigger that kill switch in his head." Pride swallowed hard.

"Actually I've been studying that. I think Liz can help with the kill switch." Katherin stated. " I think she can remove it so Pride can battle."

Pride looks at Sam, he shrugs "it's worth a try man" pride nods a bit

"The way I've seen it the kill switch is set off two ways. Exposure to your blood and triggering. We don't have to worry about the triggering for a bit. But removing it will cause bleeding if you do it the usual way." Katherin explained. "But Liz can work from the inside to remove it and heal as she goes. No blood no explosion."

Pride nodded a bit, but still didn't like the idea very much the government had already messed with his head he wasn't very eager to let any one else mess with his head.

"It an option. You don't have to take it, Pride. You could live many years with the kill switch in your head. Just means you'll be keeping me company on the sidelines." Katherin offered. She didn't want him to feel pressured. His help would be useful, but there were many ways he could help with the war that didn't involve actual battling.

Pride thought for a minute considering the idea "I rather have this stupid thing out of my head," pride was sure of that answer he had this thing in his head for to long he wanted it out.

"I'll need to study the device. Then we will need someplace safe. Because doing something like that will knock me out for a day or so." Liz said

Pride nodded, he looked at Sam he nodded "your not in this alone man" pride smiled

Liz takes Prides hand and sends her energies through him. the device was attached to several places in his brain, but none of them were deep. It was definitely movable in the manner Katherin suggested, but it was going to wipe her out. Liz scolded Sam and Pride. "You should have said when we were in the underground city. I would have been able to take my time."

Sintara set about making sure no one had been in the place, and didnt look as if there bad been. '0"our protocol was to always convene here is something happened to the city. If any of my people survived, they will come here"

pride and Sam looked at each other, "never really crossed our minds much not till now Pride doesn't give the device much thought anyway"

"How can you not give much thought to something that might someday blow up your brain." Katherin asked curiously. The devious wasn't even in her head and she had given it a lot of though since she first saw it.

"Because you get use to something you wish wasn't there" Cody said with a shrug

"I never did. I dug out several tracking devices before my escape.of course they wouldn't kill me if I screwed up when removing them." Roxy said twirling her knife. ""I often woundered if they would get around to putting a chip in me. I'm surprised more of us don't have them."

"My mother left the program before I was born" Cassie said, "so I didn't get a chip"

"I had one" Cody said, "it was cut out" he ran his hand over the scar from the cut, "quite by force actually. That was when I was Shadow"

"I don't think they would bother with me. My abilities aggressive. A tracking device would be the only thing worth the money and effort." Katherin stated

"I might have one but I don't see what good it would do them." Liz said thoughtfully.
