Akagalcia
Names: Akagalcia (Kagal, to friends)
Tier/Influence: 3 - Voidmonger - Debilitated
----The Void is a space outside of reality where nothing survives but raw, unshaped energy (The Mana-Burst), the vacuum containing all of it(The Empty), and any entity with a force of will strong enough to stay there (Voidmongers, or anyone with sufficient force of will who accidentally winds up there). With The Mana-Burst, Voidmongers can fuel their spells or tear open brief, microscopic and devastating holes into The Void to vent raw mana into the world, which immediately adopts the universal laws that govern how it exists in a given reality. With The Empty, Voidmongers can open doors and travel between realities or banish enemies, unmaking them from existence unless their force of will is strong enough to survive the process.
Description: Akagalcia wears a mixture of pelts and soft leathers, each cured and treated herself from various animals she has hunted to survive. several tools hang from loops at her waist, and a small sack is held at her back by grass chordage looped over her shoulder. She has pale, faintly blue skin, blood red hair in a massive, matted and tangled mess extending all the way down to her upper legs along her back, and brown eyes. Her face is very pointed, and taken together with her deliberate, slow gestures might give one the impression of a badger or bobcat.
--Race - Human, non-native
--Height: 5'5" (65 in)
--Weight: 160 lbs.
--Age: 28 (Ageless, 53 years old)
-Personality: Akagalcia is happiest with a full belly, a friendly face to look at, and a warm place to sleep when she's tired. She misses her tribe and is constantly on the look out for a group or place that she can call home. She craves companions to protect, and is incensed whenever she sees unnecessary violence. Unfortunately for some, unnecessary violence is often only violence that Akagalcia isn't committing. She is the arbiter of her own queer sense of morality, which really boils down to knowing why conflict happens when it does. She has difficulty understanding that someone else's conclusion about a situation might be better than her own. Anyone who can convince her they know better however often finds themselves with a new ally. Anyone smart enough to understand something she doesn't deserves protecting, after all.
Magic And Traits:
Experience: Akagalcia has lived an exciting life honing a raw talent for magic in harsh wildlands where her abilities were seen as an asset and not a danger to her people. She is competent, gregarious and earnest. She is illiterate, cruel, and narcissistic.
( 2 ) Wildling: Hunting, dumpster diving, herbalism, sewing, fishing, tanning hides--what Kagal lacks in literacy and book smarts she makes up for with an instinctual understanding of how to survive both in the true wilds and on the edges of civilization. She is never hungry, and can forage for enough food to feed three other people well each day. She can craft simple medicines from plants, hunt wild game, and has senses honed enough to sort good trash from bad.
( 3 ) Voidmonger's Ear: Unlocking the secrets of The Void has effects on the mind that allow a Voidmonger to blend into any reality, and gives them an intrinsic understanding of the laws of the universe. This understanding manifests slowly in some ways, but Akagalcia has an unrivaled talent for language. She can learn any language she has never heard in around a day, and it takes minutes for her to understand a language that shares roots with one she already knows. Her ability to speak any given language is hit or miss, however.
( 2 ) Scrapper: Kagal has been fighting her entire life to survive, whether its animals or humanoids. She certainly has limits, but she carries herself with the confidence of a practiced killer and in a way any warrior would recognize.
Pyromancy: Some of Akagalcia's abilities as a fire witch have already returned. It is difficult to use any of them more than three or four times a day, as she can't unlearn calling on The Void, the source of her magical powers. Even a simple snap of her fingers to produce sparks and light warm tinder is a great effort.
- ( 3 ) Fire Mote -- A pebble-sized, incandescent white mote of heat appears in Akagalcia's fist. It can be made to float around her for up to a minute, held close to flammable matter to ignite it, or detonated against a surface up to 20 feet away to explode in a roughly foot wide radius of heat strong enough to melt iron or vaporize living material.
- ( 1 ) Firestarter -- With a gesture, Akagalcia can dust a shower of dim sparks onto the ground up to a couple of feet away. These can ignite ready made fire pits and give quite a sting, but not much else.
- ( 3 ) Convection/Combustion -- With a glance and some concentration, Akagalcia can excite the matter of a single object up to twenty feet away, heating it almost instantly to around 450 degrees Fahrenheit. She can channel this heat for about ten seconds, after which the object (or whatever remains) will begin to cool down at a normal rate. Objects could include a weapon, a section of armor (such as a breastplate), or a door fit for a normal human.
- ( 3 ) Fire Lash -- A tongue of violet flame roughly five feet long extends from Akagalcia's hand, persisting for around a minute and able to be used as a whip. It burns hot enough to catch most clothing and plant matter on fire.
The Void: Whatever portion of The Void one uses, it is always drawn through minute tears into The Void, a place where only force of will can sustain any sense of reality. Her Pyromancy is fueled by mana drawn from The Burst in tiny slivers. Currently the only true ability she can manifest that uses The Void in any meaningful way outside the laws of magic is the opening of Doors. These lead to The Empty, where all matter not cared for by someone's force of will (any anything whose force of will is too weak) is undone and turned into formless mana.
( 3 ) Door To The Empty -- With a wave of her hand, Akagalcia opens a circular, five foot wide, two dimensional plane of blackness within a foot of where she stands. No matter can enter it without her force of will, including herself or other entities (or another Voidmonger). Anything that enters The Empty is consumed without a caretaker or someone's raw force of will (personality, guts, composure, et cetera). Akagalcia can pass roughly one human-sized entity or up to 10 cubic feet of matter into The Void a day, and can open up to 5 doors of any size a day. To push beyond either limit is possible, but potentially fatal.
Items:
- ( 2 ) A Kukri -- A little over two feet long, this Kukri appears to be forged steel, and Akagalcia certainly believes it is so. In reality this Kukri is made of Voidsteel, indestructible and capable of devastating cuts. Sadly, it is inert. Still, it remains Akagalcia's most useful tool and best weapon, Zedar's parting gift when he abandoned her to this new world.
- ( 1 ) A set of tools -- In addition to her Kukri, Akagalcia carries a simple bronze knife, a wooden hammer,
a stone spade, a mortar and pestle, and a sharpening stone of some unknown, violet ore from her homeworld.
History:
Akagalcia was once a feared pyromancer, a protector of and provider for her tribe. She has hunted beasts both mundane and magical, lead her tribe through cities and deserts, and fought against and side-by-side some of the most formidable people on her continent. But her raw magical talent lead her to discover The Void, a force that transcends reality. This attracted the attention of a benevolent being named Zedar, who offered her the opportunity to travel with him and learn from him. He gifted her with agelessness and in time they become lovers as well as friends, but she grew frustrated with the slow pace of learning how to control The Void. Her impatience offended Zedar over time, he himself a timeless entity. He banished her back to reality--one different enough from her own to unhinge her understanding of magic. Now she must re-learn pyromancy as well as how to channel The Void, left alone with the gifts Zedar has given her... agelessness, and a simple kukri.
