Example Sub

Name: Jaina Seafang

Species: Wolf

Tribe/Clan/Pack/etc.: Seafangs (totem: sea lion)

Description: A gray wolf alpha female with multiple battle scars including one across her right eye. Along with her captain's jacket, her wide-bladed cutless and trusty flintlock are always at the ready. Jaina rarely relaxes and her crew often joke that she's ready for battle even in her sleep. In reality Jaina rarely gets a full night's sleep leading to her single eye often appearing tired and bloodshot.

Personality: A brutal yet efficient military commander, Jaina leads her pack with absolute authority as her alpha mate was lost in the recent Otter Wars. Jaina is extremely focused and determined and has earned a reputation for never giving up on her quarry.

Background: Unlike most alphas Jaina was not born into her rank. Instead she earned it during the Otter wars when as a beta she assumed leadership under fire when her alpha was killed by an Otter torpedo strike. Jaina took command of the doomed frigate and steered it into the conning tower of an enemy sub sinking the vessel and turning the tide of the battle. Afterward she earned numerous accolades for her pack through both valor and pure reckless courage. In return the pack authority granted her a captainship of one of five dreadnaughts in the entire Lupine Navy which, as per custom, took the name of her pack as its own.

Talent: Leadership. Jaina inspires absolute loyalty in her pack through her unshakable determination and acts of courage.

Weakness: Politics. As a low born wolf, Jaina has little experience with the politics of high ranking alphas. Due to her fierce personality, she lacks the patience required to master social manipulations.

Knack: Scent. Jaina's sense of smell is keen even among the wolves and she has been known to track enemy vessels by the smell of their steam alone.

Flaw: Missing Eye. With one eye, Jaina has less acute depth perception not to mention the continuing ache which emanates from the scar tissue.

Posts/Week: 3

Example Post: Ironclads cut through the choppy seas like steak knives. Surf stubbornly hammers their metallic bows ineffective in altering the will of the great machines. Above the three ships, three parallel streaks of soot stain the otherwise clear blue skies. Seagulls, normally inquisitive birds, steer clear of the ferrous fortresses preferring to perch on adjacent rafts of seaweed instead. A local pod of orca share their caution, venting their blowholes from a safe distance.

The flag of the Wolf Nation, the blood paw banner, flaps alongside each ship's smoke stack. The black paw, centerpiece of the symbol, is just barely visible amidst the smog. Flying the highest standard and boasting a barrage of guns, twenty-eight in total, along her broadsides, the Seafang leads the formation. Her captain, an alpha female with fur as gray as her ship's iron sides, stands at the conning tower. One eye scans the horizon through a crystal scope while the other remains forever closed beneath a grizzly scar.

"Anything, Captain Jaina?" her first mate and pack beta asks squinting at the distant spouts.

"Just leviathons...," replies the captain, "but there's a new smell on the air." Her nose wrinkled at the unknown odor. "Signal the Moonsquall and the Stormeagle to tighten their formation... and tell the crew to ready the canons just in case."

Name: Cassiopeia Larken
Species: Cat/ Nyanni
Tribe/Clan/Pack/etc.: Larken (totem: lark)
Description:
Personality: Cassiopeia is very intelligent; however, she can be somewhat blasé. Her moral alignment would be described as true neutral. She is trust worthy, and will never tell someone’s secret. Or perhaps, she uses them for her own gain… Cassiopeia is bold, and doesn’t enjoy thinking of ‘what if?’
Background: Cassiopeia was taken prisoner on the ship after a scuffle with one of the ship workers after it unknowingly docked close to a hunting party. The cats fired at the crewmembers but she was caught by one of them. By the time the others went to get help, she was already locked up (still threatening them) with nothing they could do. Before that, she had lived happily with her tribe, and was establishing herself as a huntress.
Talent: People skills, is something that not everyone is quite adept at. Cassiopeia is excellent at, in fact, her tribe mates used to joke she could charm the pants off of the wolves’ leader.
Weakness: Using technology; since she used to live with her tribe without any, it gives her quite the headache. She’d be just fine without ever having to use it.
Knack: Decision making; Cassiopeia used to aid in hunts and would often be given the task of choosing which prey to go after. She makes up her mind quickly and does so without remorse.
Flaw: Cassiopeia’s back right leg, is still not as strong as the others from a bad break as a kitten. It can sometimes cause uncomfortable pressure but other than that it does not affect her too badly.
Posts/Week: 3
Example Post:

Cassiopeia hissed at the guard as he walked by. He smirked at the captive lynx, his harsh grey eyes glinting in amusement. The lupin walked up to the bars and asked mockingly, “What are you going to do?” Cassiopeia launches forward trying to scratch him, instead of clothing her face hit a metal bar. He howled in laughter, his tan scarred muzzle twitching as he did so. Cassiopeia sighed in defeat and walked over to a shadowy part of the cell. It was useless, she would never get out of here. “Oh, you have given me such a wound!” He continued in a mock pained voice. After laughing at her again he left her. Cassiopeia’s amber orbs studied her small cell; grey wall, gray floor, grey everything! She missed the lush forests she had grown up in. I want to go home. Her claws absent-mindedly dug into the prisoner’s outfit that they’d given her to wear, she had swiftly refused, instead taking the time to curse at them.

The door opened and her audits swiveled towards them. She ignored it until she smelled food. Her stomach made noises signifying her hunger. Cassiopeia noted the footsteps she heard, “Here’s dinner, I made sure to get it fresh.” Looking up, she recognized this lupin. The wolf slid the tray through the bars and stepping away from the bars.

“Thank you.” Cassiopeia called after the fellow female before swiftly digging in. Despite being miserable in this cell, she could appreciate the taste of this food.

“Where is my food?” The male guard joked.

“In the cafeteria, I am not your slave.” The female rolled her eyes before casting one final glance at Cassiopeia, and leaving the cell room.

Cassiopeia scarfed the meal down, licking her lips in content. She then went to the task of grooming herself, she wasn’t without manners after all. Her tongue’s many pallipae going through her spotted pelt. When she was certain that the task was complete, she laid down. Her mouth opened in a yawn, her tongue stretching out. Her thoughts went back to her tribe mates that would often sun beside her after eating. The cell was cold, would have bothered a hairless animal but all it did was remind Cassiopeia of her warm home. She sighed before closing her eyes, ready for the sleepiness to take over.

Name: Kari Weyrloc

Species: Wolverine/Thrax

Tribe/Clan/Pack/etc.: Wintertooth Clan

Description: Kari has the height of his species, standing over most southern races, but is thinner than average by Thrax standards. The markings of his tribe are dyed into his dark fur in white forming an intricate design upon his face going down to his chest. His fur also mostly hides several scars along his neck

Personality: While still aggressive and vicious Kari is decidedly more amicable than most of his kind. A man of few words even before his injuries he can still prove surprisingly Jovial in revelry. Much like the rest of the Thrax he values strength and may gravitate toward those that display it, but once he's chosen someone to follow he is incredibly loyal to them.

Background: Kari had abandoned his clan and ventured south, wandering through the Red Fox empire mainly keeping to country paths to avoid notice. He had no particular destination he was simply trying to get further from his former clan. It wasn't until he reached the territory of the Gray Fox Shogunate that he was caught and turned over to the wolves who imprisoned him on the Stormeagle for transport.

Talent: Melee combat. Kari excels up close, between skill and strength he can outmatch almost any opponent, mainly finding his equals among other Thrax

Weakness: Simple. While not a complete dullard the mechanisms of the south more often that not elude him, leaving him hopeless to handling firearms.

Knack: Intimidation. The reputation of the Thrax precedes him and his presence can often be enough to inspire fear and passivity in others, or perhaps respect for his master.

Flaw: Silenced. After a brutal punishment by his clan Kari was left with a scarred neck and immense difficulty speaking. His communication is mostly limited to grunts and growls though he can still force some words out albeit not without great struggle.

Posts/Week: at least once or twice a week.

Example Post: Kari roared at the figures looming over him, two pinning him down by the arms and a third brandishing an axe. He struggles against the two pinning him down while the third began to speak "you disgrace your clan, you disgrace the Thrax with your words, your voice" the figure bent down and put one hand below his chin, forcing him to tip his head back to expose his neck while the blade of the axe came close "Now we take it from you, make you silent" with that the tip of the blade was driven into his neck, his screams of rage mingling with screams of agony as it rent his neck and torn his vocal chords, slowly drowning out his screams until they grew weak and faded. His struggles eventually faded with his voice and he was left there, his clan mates leaving him to die.

Kari woke with a start and tried to shake off the old memory, it still haunted him sometimes when he slept no matter how much he tried to block it out. Just then a noise drew his attention to the other side of the cell he was in, seems he woke up just in time for food. A parcel was dropped through a slot in the door, no tray no one wanted to come retrieve it later, it was enough to keep him alive but he would still feel hunger, especially since he could only eat whatever he could force through the iron muzzle on his face. He took the food and sat back against the cell wall again, for now only able to wait.
