Clara didn't like Armend's insistence on going against the mission. "If our mission was to hunt monsters then by all means I would let you go. But our job is these nitroshrooms so that's what we're going to focus on." She said in a stern voice as she began down the path to area 1 thoroughly enjoying the cooling temperature. She check her own pack which already had eight nitroshrooms in it, so she had no doubt that Armend could easily fill in the remaining two. "so... What do you think they wanted us to get nitroshrooms for?" She asked this not 100% sure is Armend actually knew what a nitroshroom was because of previous evidance showing otherwise.

Environment

As Clara and Armend approached area one they would notice that the heard of Aptonoth was back, and it was lacking a few members. Clara was slightly saddened to see that the baby had perished she didn't like it when babies got hurt. She could now guess where the Ioprey had wandered off to. The remaining Aptonoth seemed a little jumpy, most likely due to the attack on their heard. She made them avoid Armend and Clara, some going so far as to run into the water.

Edon Cruxs.

Edon would ignore the fact that the Aptonoth's corpse is attracting others.The more the merrier.

Edon stabs the Aptonoth hoping it will die..

Area 2

The Aptonoth struggled in vain as Edon stabbed into its side, it slowly but surely collapsed. Edon would then be free to carve his rewards. There would be plenty of meat there far more than the 8 he needed. It was just a matter of carving it off before some nastier monsters came along.

Edon pulled out the paper "Time to get some meat.." Edon draws his sword and skins the large Aptonoth he would grab a leather bag and pull out 8 chunks of meat.Edon walked to the young Aptonoth and skins it getting 2 chunks of meat,he is keeping the meat from the young Aptonoth for himself.

Edon grabbed a few burnt sticks and a bowl shaped magma rock.The makeshift bowl was small so he had to chop the chunks of meat he collected for himself into 5 pieces.He made a makeshift cooking stove using the lava as a heat source.

Armend shrugged his shoulders indifferently. If he had to guess, it was most likely some grunt-work that Cyrus or the Elder either didn't have the time for or didn't want to do. He refrained from voicing those concerns, figuring Clara would know better than him about her wise-ones. Instead, he ran ahead of her, grinning a rather childish smile and spoke, "Let's race, Clara. Surely that roof-work hasn't taken all the fun out of you."

He rushed ahead, and if Clara was perceptive enough, she would notice the near-lack of sound coming from his sprint.

Clara frowned at Armend as he sped up. She then followed suit just because of the fact she wanted to make sure he didn't deviate off. She kept pace with him fairly easily just because of her slightly longer legs, "We're almost back to camp. Just slow it down, it gets a bit steep here remember." she warned as they came to a little slope that led back down to the camp. She then walked over to the red chest and deposited her nitroshrooms into the chest, then gestured for Armend to do the same. "The cats get it back faster than us so we leave it in the chest for them to deliver." she said this as if it were common knowledge (which it is but not everyone knows).

"You're all business aren't you?" commented Armend as he stashed his nitroshrooms in the chest as well. "Relax, Clara, I may be new to this whole Monster Hunting thing but I'm a quick learner. I'll pick up most of this along the way."

He strode forward and plopped down on a nearby stool, legs spread evenly apart, his arms resting on his thighs. "So, Cyrus is a pretty strong Hunter huh? I noticed he used Dual Blades too. Think he'll teach me a few things?"

Clara also took a seat then looked over at Armend. "of coarse, you gotta work hard or not at all. Especially in this line of work, you mess around and you might get killed. There is no room for error." she then rolled her shoulders. "And Cyrus has been almost single handedly protecting Cantarco for almost 10 years now. He just got unlucky and his arm was broken by a Black Gravios. So he won't be able to show you everything, but he'll definitely give you pointers." Cyrus would have hidden the fact his arm was broken very well from Armend, Cyrus was tough. Like really tough.

As Edon sat there cooking his meat he might have heard the rapid patting of clawed feet on stone, if he were to look over at the Corpses he left he would see an Iodrome with 5 Ioprey getting ready to feast on the bodies. They were to busy with that to care about him, but it might be in his best interests to evacuate.

Armend rubbed his chin. If Cyrus was as strong as Clara and his feats said, then he'd probably have unique skills to teach. That would be a big plus for him. His smile became crooked. "When can we head back? I'd love to ask him directly for those pointers."

"Maybe he'd take me out back and we can go toe-to-toe." The idea of him actually beating the man surfaced up. If he could do that then he would prove from the start that he was better. That he didn't need any of that.

Area 2

Edon's sudden sprint startled the Iodrome and its pack mates. The Ioprey barked and went to chase but the Iodrome stopped them, the food was more important than a fleeing competitor.

Area 1

As Edon entered area one he would see the Aptonoth grazing again, one's tail seemed to hang lower then the rest as it grazed on some grass. One of the Aptonoth had gotten tired of all the running and decided to lay down and rest. Edon had a free way back to the camp or a safe area to whip out a barbecue.

Clara nodded. "Yeah, it probably is about time we get moving." Clara then stood up waited for Armend to also stand and then headed off down the trail back to town. This time the journey was not silent "So... You want to fight Cyrus? Why?" Clara was genuinely puzzled by this, she couldn't even begin to think about fighting Cyrus. She could only look up to him (not literally she's 3 inches taller.) the thought of attacking him seemed like a terrible crime.

Armend gave Clara a knowing look. She was finally interested in him, no longer was she hiding behind that all business facade. It just took something unbelievable to grasp her attention. In this case, it was someone actually wanting to fight, Cyrus. He smiled then crossed his arms behind his head. "Well let's just say I like to discover my limits. Cyrus seems strong so why not fight him. Plus, in the process I'll get to see his moves up close."

"My turn. Has Cyrus ever been beaten? or is he your village's lone Hunter for a reason?"

Clara didn't seem impressed with Armend, he seemed all to eager to fight. Not that that was a bad thing given the line of work he was applying for. But he was so ready and so pumped to fight another person, not a monster. "Why would you fight a person to discover your capacity to fight monsters? That makes no sense..." She let out a sigh. "Cyrus has not been beaten,
but that's only because nobody tried to fight him..." Clara rolled her shoulders as they got closer to the village it's gates now in sight. "We don't have time to waste fighting each other. There is to much work to be done. And it's stupid."
Clara then walked up to the gate and pushed it open gesturing for Armend to go first.

Armend stopped in his tracks. "Stupid?" he asked, shocked and knocked back by her opinion.

"How can wanting to be stronger be stupid? If Cyrus has bested many monsters, monsters that were deemed too strong. And I best him, doesn't that mean something? doesn't that prove I'm stronger without the experience, the training?" His eyes, once liquid like water became sharp and hard, like sapphires. "What you said was stupid. Not what I said." He hmp! as he strode pass her, a scowl on his face.

She hadn't understood his upbringing. In his village, it was strength that kept The Abandoned alive. And it was feats like the one he had aspired to do that proved it. He walked ahead without her guidance, remembering clearly the path that led to Cyrus and the elder.

Clara was shocked by Armend's reaction but made no sighs that she was, What kind of place breeds people who want to fight each other?... Clara thought as she watched Armend storm off. She was at a loss for his reasoning, how would fighting an old crippled man prove he can fight giant monsters? His logic made no sense to her, but she continued following him back to the town hall. She was also not overly happy with his tone evident by her slight urge to hit him. I just don't get it!...

Chief/Cyrus

The door to the hall lay open and a cat holding an empty basket waddled out in front of Armend before he would be able to enter. Cyrus sat on a stool chewing on a piece of wheat as you do. He looked up at Armend as he walked in noticing his probably irritated look, and the lack of Clara being with him. "What happened? You two get into some trouble or something?" he said as he slowly stood up and removed the wheat from his mouth.

Armend, who was at first surrounded by his ire, allowed the endearing image of the cat to lighten his mood. He smiled, faintly, before entering in. Cyrus' question made him lean against the wall, frown, and angle his head towards the opening. "Ask her if you wanna know. Its between the two of us and I'm not too keen on letting secrets out." Despite what he said, Armend looked unsure of his emotions.

Cyrus/Chief

Cyrus looked at the door waiting for Clara to walk in. He seemed a little unsure of how to deal with Armend's apparent emotional distress. They just went mushroom gathering. They must have gotten into some form of argument. When Clara eventually did walk into the hall he smiled at her. "So how did it go Clara, run into any trouble?" He nodded as Clara told him it was an uneventful trip."That's good to hear!" his smile changed into a stern expression after a brief sigh. He could see on both their faces that something was wrong. "So. Are you guys going to confess to me what happened, or am I going to have to go digging?" he said in a slightly intimidating tone.

Clara didn't even notice the cat with the basket and eventually made her way into the hall a good thirty seconds after Armend. She saw Cyrus waiting for her to enter and she tried to mask her feelings of anger and confusion. She then looked at Cyrus as he asked her how it went "It was uneventful, no large monsters." she said in a slightly disheartened tone. She went to take a seat when Cyrus revealed that he knew something was up, this made her pause for a moment before sitting down, she then looked down at the floor.

Armend was unimpressed by Cyrus' stern face. Inside it was something different than he had ever encountered, something dangerous. But as one of The Abandoned, Armend had seen dangerous and hateful glares before. Confronted it face to face. It did little to stir his gut. He pushed himself off the wall and walked forwards. "It's nothing, Cyrus," he said firmly. "Did you get the mushrooms? Clara said that the cat could get it to you faster than we could? personally I found it difficult to believe it could waddle faster than I could run. I'm pretty quick on my toes."

Clara didn't say anything she didn't want to bring it up because it sorta involved Cyrus a little, and because she had a feeling she might get to worked up about it. She then looked over at Armend as he stated his disbelief in the cats ability, she was not pleased. Felyne's were amongst the hardest workers alive, digging transporting living out in the wild. They may be small cute little creatures but they were no joke.

Chief/Cyrus

Cyrus was annoyed that that neither of them ended up confessing to him about their obvious beef. He then cracked a grin "The cats got here around 15 minutes ago, they're quick little suckers. They use underground tunnels to get around real quick, they do their job better than any of us could. And they do it safer to." he then looked behind him and called out to the chief."So they're back! You got another job for them!?" "NOPE!" called the chief who was no longer sitting on her stool stirring the pot of soup but was climbing around getting dishes ready on a table in a back room. "BUT I GOT SOUP! YOU WANT SOME!?" Cyrus smiled and looked back at Clara and Armend. He shrugged "You guys want some soup?" he asked hoping to get them to talk over food, and possibly get some help from the chief.

"Soup sounds really good actually. We can discuss you training me over it," he said casually. In his head it was already guaranteed that Cyrus would train him. Fighting him seriously, on the other hand, was not. If the old hunter could muster the strength to, that would be great, but for some reason, Armend doubted it would just resurface.

Armend cracked his hands extravagantly, pushing his arms forwards and around his neck before letting them fall to his sides. "Let me help you out granny, I'm a expert when it comes to putting together some food." He ran into the kitchen area and flashed a helping smile towards the Elder. "Whatever you need, put me to work."
