Name: Louise Clarissa Derleth, often just goes by Louise or even L.
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Race: Human Bean
Personality: Louise Derleth is someone who simply wishes to live the life she chooses to live. A spunky and sometimes irreverent individual who nonetheless demonstrates a commanding presence regardless of what she pursues, often trending towards a somewhat over exaggerated, yet not [completely] undeserving, self-confidence. She is easygoing, carefree and abrasive, displaying full confidence in herself and presenting herself with a determined expression. On the other hand, she is also quite lazy and self-indulgent, disliking having to work, making her a somewhat selfish and unconcerned person. Despite this, Naomi tends to fight for goals and ideals she considers dear to herself, often at the expense of herself.
One can typically find Louise drunk and at a local pub that would take her company, her masculine chargon often exacerbated by the patrons of the establishment’s less-than-clear heads, and often leads to silly situations. Though there are few that do take her bombastic ways, one could say that In addition to this, Louise is a compulsive gambler, kicked out of almost every casino in Belwyn due to her ability to easily count the odds of winning, often leading to her winning a lot more often than the casino owners would wish to allow.
Louise tends to take on a rather unabashed and shameless disposition when it comes to desires of the flesh, often talking openly about such subjects and other such personal intimacies without restraint. Despite this fact, she does seem to dislike when outside forces gaze upon her within these conditions, often practicing them with “close” companions. Though she refuses to speak about her position as an alchemist to those she is unable to trust, understanding the profession tends to have a certain position within the world.
Despite her rather bombastic style, unbecoming of an alchemist, one could say that she is not really a “bad” person by heart. Though she tends to commit less-than-moral actions in her work, she refuses to harm anyone not involved and has turned down any trafficking contracts in the past. However, against those who are part of this “criminal world”, regardless if they are gangsters or police, she does not hesitate to act accordingly in a given situation.
Bio: Alchemy is often considered forbidden art. Those who practice it tend to hide themselves away from civilization, hardly interacting with the world around them due to their fear of prejudice and desire to research their art to the fullest. In their nature, Alchemists enjoy hoarding knowledge away from the people, including themselves, inhumane to the desires of normalcy and only embracing enough to seem normal externally towards the uninitiated.
Louise was born to parents she knew not. An orphan left in a basket of an orphanage with nothing on her person aside from a light cloth wrapped around her to keep her safe during the downpour. She lived a majority of her early years within that orphanage.
To the city of Belwyn is unkind, especially to those of lower standings. The orphans in order to raise funds for the orphanage were forced to a life of crime; the child pickpockets of the city tending to fight night and day for their survival, thriving upon the unsuspecting aristocracy. Though their lives were brutal if they were to get caught, often beaten by the patrols or those they had stolen from. The kids, organized by the orphanage, hardly saw a cent of what they earned, but at the very least they would get food in their bellies.
However, perhaps it was a degree of luck upon the side of the young Louise, or perhaps even an omen within itself when she had taken a book from an unsuspecting older fellow. Taking it to her hideout, the child, much to the chagrin of those around her, decided to attempt to decipher the meaning behind the book she was given. .Hardly literate, but slightly more so than her compatriots.
Though she did retain her standard urchin tendencies, a lot of her fascination and time was placed within the book she had found. A perverse curiosity seemed to have overtaken the girl, fervorous about uncovering the secrets held within.
But it wouldn’t be long before the man, ratted out by the very people she called “compatriots” would find the hideout, and hence the girl, to return what was taken.
In that moment, the old man whom she had been stolen from appeared before her, stunned by the girl’s understanding of the book he had dropped. Alchemy tends to take a massive amount of skill to adequately pull off, often taking years of mental strain before one is able to accomplish any sort of results, but to the old man’s eyes, this street rat was able to break down the ideas of alchemy in little more than the week he had lost his book.
It was simple, enough to impress the man, one Mr..Charles Derleth. Choosing to adopt the girl, the old man thought took her on as his disciple, having never had children of his own, he decided that he would force upon the girl the secrets he had held within life. He had once wished to find the secret to immortality, but eventually accepted his own demise.
Years later, Louise took up the mantle of her mentor and her adopted father’s steps in alchemic studies after he had passed on, wanting to both master the craft herself.
There are rumors, however, of a strange new owner who hardly shows around the orphanage she had grown up within, doing away with the pickpocket rings and self-funding the entire organization with gold.
Gang affiliation or Other affiliations:
Freelancer (Or part of a gang. Either or)
Stuff:
>A bag of Powdered Silver and Gold respectively. Doesn’t hold too much purpose, aside from it being a staple of alchemists to carry. Looks pretty at the very least. >Steel bracers and gauntlets as well as steel boots >Makeshift steel armor fashioned with her ability. Magic:
Alchemy: Simply put, alchemy is the ability to utilize the magic within oneself to impose desires upon the outward world. To “overwrite “ the world with the desires that fuel oneself in the form of changing either the properties or shape or both of an item touched by an alchemic user, utilizing the magic within themselves or around themselves to allow for the changes of object around them. Though there is a thought process involved in the changing of both an object's properties and shape, the actual cast time is as instant as touching something, though the user tends to need to know both the material and the equation for the reaction to properly change, even able to enhance the original purpose of an item so long as she keeps her hands upon it, or even combine two materials in a flash.
Alchemy is a dangerous art, banned or moderated by officials if allowed at all within a nation, though not for any sort of malicious reason. The most dangerous part of alchemy is the lucrative business of counterfeiting gold from the more common metal lead, leading to drags upon the economy as a whole due to the influx of “fake gold”. Due to her criminal origins, Louise is able to create this gold, but sparingly uses it unless absolutely needed. However, Alchemists tend to hide their nature, blending seamlessly to their surroundings.
As a byproduct of this ability, the user of alchemy tends to need massive amounts of computing power for the activation of their ability, often needing to partition their mind into several parts in order to directly issue a complex reaction. As a master of her craft, Louise is able to calculate her mind’s partitioned into seven different parts; a rare skill even amongst the greatest of its craft, allowing her seven independent thought processes. In the event the user is unable to think properly, the can utilize their partitioned minds to continue alchemic reactions, through continued contact with the affected ailment will only stall the inevitable..
Louise uses data to simulate all the possible patterns and fluctuations of the opponent, following a by a diagram of all the possibilities to select the most likely outcome and act according to it to choose the most suitable attack. Therefore, her “intuition” seems almost like “precognition” to an extent. However, even if she can understand a situation which has befallen her, she is only able to “see” what will happen. While capable of predicting the movements of someone far superior she lacks the ability to follow through with her counter move, like knowing the trajectory of a bullet but being unable to dodge it.
Some alchemists also tend to be able to create homunculi, artificial humans programmed to fulfill a task that tend to degrade at a much more rapid rate than a normal human. Louise is not privy to the knowledge to create such creatures, as this wasn't a study her master chose to take part in, often considered a taboo within the alchemist community, even to their already taboo craft.
Other:
Upon Louise’s body are various tattoos of alchemic formulas, though their purpose is more or less taking a similar function as a student writing answer on their hand before a test. Though many other alchemists take this short cut, and memorizing the exceptions while keeping the base rules handy tends to be easier than vice versa.
