@hagroden Haha, what are the odds? I've created a character with almost the exact same power set over in CoD, but she uses string instead and is more spider like. XD
Aspects High Concept: We’ll Keep Them All Safe Trouble: Friends in Low Places Origin: Just Trying to Live Growth: They Burned; Justice Burns Hotter Adventure: It’s not Vengeance if it’s Good
Bio Personality:
Maryland, taken together, is an agent of understandable chaos. Disturbed into action by their trigger, they take the fight to protect normal humans very seriously, even if their actions may have wide-spread negative repercussions. Mary may appear young, but her will is iron and she’s willing to stand up when her overbearing sense of justice is triggered. She seems to feel a personal responsibility to anyone she meets, dolling out assistance wherever she see a possibility, and prone to pledge protection to anyone she thinks can’t provide it for themselves. This makes it easy for others to think of her as a friend, and she responds in kind, considering most people either friends or enemies; friends are to be protected, enemies are to be destroyed. Due to her monstrous appearance, Dragon gets less human exposure than Mary, though her personality is no less solid. She, too, takes the side of the weak, using her considerable power to kill and overkill anything that gets in her way. She is the more reckless of the two, but also the more natural; where Mary is calculating, Dragon’s emotions run hot and wild, making her far more transparent. She demands respect and admiration, a hero of the people in her own mind. But beyond normal friendship, which she also shares far and wide, she has a special connection to Mary, willing to obliterate anything, friend or foe, who threatens her charge.
History
Until a week ago, no one knew of Maryland. Now, the knowledge is widespread. They were originally parts of a high-functioning older teen with dissociative identity disorder. They had friends, though not as many as they would have liked, and took care of their mother as they could, when they could wrest control from Douglas. Mary was Mother’s favorite, and loved their trips to the parks and museums, learning with her young sense of discovery and exploration. Their mother, in return, yearned for the days that Mary would be in control, longing for the little daughter that would only come out to play rarely. Dragon was a favorite at school, the cool big girl with a miraculous skill in sports and a rebellious attitude that made her an idol to all the counter-cultures on campus. Her sudden, wild tirades against authority; the way she’d pick fights with bullies, even bigger ones, and win; her strong presence gave her a name on the blacktop and on the street, where she preferred to spend the days she had looking for trouble and dance parties. They each, in their own ways, earned Douglas and his lesser personalities friends and resentment. Mary was spending an evening with her mother and friends at the ice cream parlor when the front window shattered. She saw, as if in slow motion, the stream of burning the air as it poured from a cape into the crowded space, splashing and sticking, burning and melting as it impacted booths and humans alike. She watched her mother conflagrate, the flames eating the oxygen she would have used to scream. They never found out why that shop was attacked. It may have helped sooth their soul, prevented their rampage after the trigger split their soul into twelve parts, and only two survived. It may have given them a real target after they tore the culprit into shreds and evaporated his existence, but as it was, they were left with nothing but their memories, regrets, and powers. They vowed that it would not happen again. On their watch, no one would suffer that way again. They cleaned up those streets, the little girl with the red pelt and the being of fire that would follow in her wake, only to be forgotten as they disappeared in the smoke their blitz would leave behind. No one came for them, no one impeded their progress, but it was still not fast enough. With the Covenant disturbing the streets with more organized strikes, it may be time for Maryland to make themselves known. After all, they’ve always done well in groups.
Abilities Mary – Master/Stranger, Breaker/Brute
Mary’s main power revolves around the memory of those lost: she can use someone else’s memory of a dead person like a seer, recalling the dead to quiz their memory; or she can do the inverse, causing every person with memory of the deceased to forget him/her. This power only affects sentient memories, so it still leaves behind evidence in the form of video or audio recordings, though images and sounds of the forgotten will have no familiarity. Secondarily, Mary can Break, merging with Dragon to become a wolf-like dragon of vast power.
Dragon – Mover/Blaster/Shaker, Breaker/Brute
Dragon’s ability revolves around the secretion of a high-energy, ignitable gas from portions of her body. She can use these to propel herself at incredible speeds. She can cause incredible destruction by leeching them into the environment and then igniting them for a widespread explosion, or by focusing the gas into a stream toward a target, igniting it for a high-intensity flamethrower effect. Secondarily, Dragon can Break, merging with Mary to become a wolf-like dragon of vast power.
Alright, everything should be in order minus the History and finding a proper image to use for what I have in mind.
However, I cannot complete History until I receive input first.
@Sickle-cell, or anyone really, which Faction do you feel Toxic fits best with? Not full time member, I don't think she's anything beyond a Neutral jumper with the way she acts, but which group would she seen to fit with best?
Information
Name: Alice Rein
Cape Name: Toxic Taint
Theme Song:
Aspects
High Concept: Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Trouble: Wicked Bitch of Boston
Origin: They See Me Shuffling
Growth: You Think You've Beaten Me?
Adventure: My, My, What Sharp Teeth You Have...
Bio
Personality: Alice is capacious, seemingly unstable and thus unpredictable. One thing that remains common is a highly flirtatious attitude. While in her good graces, however, one will find her rather motherly towards them. This can be confusing given her flirty nature.
On the flip side, Alice can be viscous and demented, revelling in the pain and suffering of her enemies.
And, of course, she's easily offended and should be dealt with as if she were a Queen if you don't wish to draw her ire.
History:
Abilities
Classified as a Shifter / Brute 7 and Master / Shaker 6, Toxic isn't someone to mess around with.
Having complete control over her own physiology, Toxic can take on any form she desires. This can also serve as a defensive measure, as she can shift her vital points around to avoid serious injury and heal at an accelerated rate. She does have a preferred form, but it can be incredibly difficult to track her as she can change her scent along with her looks.
Her other ability stems further from that, as she has complete control over bacteria and viruses inside her body, and around her. This allows her to both cure diseases, manipulate these cells to make them worse or better, and to create brand new biological threats never seen before.
@KiddoI won't lie. I was hoping for a cookie-based cape
*ahem*
First off, you are one of those who haven't read Worm, I take it? We have a canon cape called Dragon, but i'm letting the name stand, cause that will likely cause at least one hilarious and potential fatal mix-up at one stage. I'll approve your power for now, but until I know exactly what the Wolf-thing can do, I reserve the right to tone it down, eventually. Although, I'm not even sure you need it. Dragon's power is inspired.
@POOHEAD189 Heheheheh, striker/brute, hell yeah. Substance absorption on contact would be pretty cool. It's a hell of an easy trigger to figure out too, since strikers and brutes can go hand in hand together pretty easily (striker = in your face threat, brute = physical pain/trauma).
This is going to be a bloody terrific RP with the few i've seen so far. She honestly sounds like a Wonderland cape, although The Covenant would be after her too - purely for her strength. Which is quite funny, because almost everyone so far has fit in with either The Consortium or The Covenant bar like the one token hero going to be desperately trying to keep everyone apart =P
@Sickle-cell If it makes you feel any better, her original incarnation was that she had control over her biology and was ridiculously poisonous. Like, she got cut once and killed everyone in the room because of her blood being so toxic it wasn't even funny.
Her second incarnation, which is what this is based off of to an extent, is that of a god among men type of thing.
This one is a bit of a mix, if only because it fits Wormverse so much better this way.
I was a little worried about it being over the top, but given the NPCs I feel it would work alright since it's not like I'm going to just Biohazard Nuke the city and everyone in it.
I like those two suggestions, as well. I think I'll start her off solo, and see which group gets her interested the most.
Which means I can work on my History now! Wooo. I'll have it finished within 4 hours, since I get off work in just over an hour.
@Sickle-cell Yeah that's why I went with MD/Maryland instead of Dragon. I haven't read Worm, but I do my research before throwing my hat into something like this! Do look forward to whatever confusion it might cause :P
I'm cool with you toning down the combined form if need be. It's mostly Dragon + Brute. I know I don't need it for power budget reasons, but it's there as a way to protect the squishy Mary during a fight and cuz I like the idea of the split personalities being able to combine again at least momentarily.
@KiddoAs do I. Makes sense if they are actually split personalities anyhow. I wonder if we could come up with some batshit combined power. Explosive memories, anyone? :-P

Ayy
Good to know that that kind of power is considered somewhat tanky in this verse, too. Wasn't sure what others might be capable of.
Back in the days of Yore on an older site my friend ProPro here ran, a mutual friend of ours ran a very interesting RP, though our powers were given to us rather than chosen. We were also encouraged to make our actual selves, as well. My power was taking on the physical aspects of whatever I touched down to a molecular level if I so chose.

The Wormverse gets really insane with powers. Yours is decent with some good potential if the right resources are around, but as a baseline it absolutely pales to the likes of Armsmaster, Legend, Alexandria, The Siberian, Gray Boy, Glaistig Uaine, and a ton of others.
Actually thinking on it, it could be classified as striker/shifter or striker/breaker. Probably closer to one of those, with the "brute" factor being more of a side effect than the baseline of the power itself. Shifter triggers come from massive self-image problems while breaker is the hardest to describe. Basically when a trigger has a difficult definition in and of itself (for example, someone gets drugged we'll say, and hallucinates they're getting the crap beaten out of them. The pain and trauma is brute but how it's all hallucination is mental which would be a thinker trigger, so it gets confuddled as a breaker).
But the GM already said he wasn't getting too picky about the specifics of the setting, so feel free to ignore this advice.
@ProPro Can't be too picky when not everyone has read it. And yea, some capes in canon are ridiculous. Some new NPCs fill similar roles, so don't expect easy fights no matter what. The bigger you are, the more they spend on hitmen :-P

I'll keep this stuff in mind, though I am somewhat relieved this isn't too picky on Canon.
