Monetary System will be in silver bits, or gold coins. 20 silver = 1 gold
Currency should be kept up with on CS, and changed upon usage in posts. This also applies to all ammunitions, firearms or bows. Prices should be made to resemble comparable amounts of common items.. Like a beer is usually 2 or 3 bucks, so to make it easy we just translate to 2 or 3 bits, as they should resemble or be close to comparative currencies of today.

Specialty or novelty weapons, or weapons forged by higher skilled artisans or weapons or jewelry pieces produced by quality makers and vendors will be determined by GM, prompt a
"What's for sale" or "I'm looking for a-, What'ya got?" inquiry in post to summon for a NPC. If you sort of describe what you are looking for I will be happy to come up with a few select items for purchase at that time for you to look over.




Other items can be discussed and amended to list upon approval.. Don't hesitate to ask..


SKILLSET ALLOWANCES/SUCCESS ROLLS

(only when attacking or using skillsets)


Beginning characters are allowed 15 points to divide into 5 skillset categories. Each point represents a D2 coin flip. (For example lets say that you have a 3 in lockpicking, when you go to roll youd type in 3xd2 and say you get 2 out of 3 then it is a success.) The number of successes and the number of the roll (higher number of successes are executed with greater finesse) determine the successfulness of the action, and the lower the success numbers rolled the poorer the performance. Zero successes will result in a catastrophic failure.
I'm not going to go to check every roll, and this will be based on trust in the individuals playing. Remember that these players aren't exactly the best of people, so some failures will add to their character and should provide a good read, and also make everyone write a bit out pocket.. at least that's the idea. Again you don't have to roll on every occasion or every small action, just on ones that hold weight in each post. A Dice Roller can be found on the home page of the Guild over on the right I think. Look at Y'Vanna's sheet to see how these points are dispersed. You don't have to have 5 skills, just not more.. Also feel free to make up your own skillsets that you think might come in handy. If they are magical in nature please run it by me first..

SKILLSETS/PICKPOCKETING

When rolling for pickpocketing skillset, upon successful picking roll 1 d100 to determine a random amount of currency. This number will be in bits not coins, unless all dice are rolled as successes, then the roll will represent coins, but only on a 1 D20 roll instead of a D100. If you'd like to pick jewelry or other items, then the number of the roll will be the worth of the item instead of loose currency.

When zero successes are rolled the pick will be a failure, which will also alert the party being picked, and will result in some form of confrontation.


(If no skill points exist for skill player rolls 1d6 but must roll above a 4 for success. If successful in same action several times the GM may award character with this skill, adding 1 point, accumulating over time. Please make the GM aware of this as best as possible.)

ATTACK ROLLS


Attack rolls will be done with 1d10. The higher the number the better the outcome. a roll of 1-3 will be considered a fail, and up to a roll of 5 will be considered poor execution.

When attacking with any weapon other than what you are used to add a -2 modifier to compensate for skill adjustment.

Injury Modifier


If a player is injured a -2 modifier will be added to roll for the duration of the injury.

Flaw modifier


When a character flaw comes into play a -2 modifier will be added to roll on first roll, if roll is still successful then the modifier drops to -1 for the next roll if the flaw is still applicable..

For instance, intoxication, or under the influence failure (oh shit, you did it this time) and the mod stays at -2, but if successful (Hold my beer! I am a golden god!) , and the mod drops to -1.

(This applies to all flaws, lying or physical setbacks, etc, whichever flaw governs your character.)


Intoxication Modifier


A -1 modifier will be added to each roll while intoxicated.

(This applies to all forms of intoxication, for every player regardless of whether or not it is a flaw, and must be added to the existing flaw modifier if already in place..)



When rolling for attacks that involve a flintlock or powder weapon a -2 modifier will be added to the roll due to their unreliable nature (misfires, poor aim, wet powder, etc.). You must roll a 6, 7, or 8 for a good hit, 3-5 is a near miss, which doesn't mean that you don't hit the target, just maybe not where you intended to. Also on a roll of 1 or 2 or a catastrophic failure will result in personal injury or equipment damage. ( powder burns, backfires/shrapnel, ricochets, etc).

The beginning process of the plot will consist of each player being setup and caught by guards on a test of sorts, where each is sent after or just thieving an item (preferably one that takes a bit of skill to acquire.). After the item is obtained they are subdued and imprisoned awaiting a meeting before the High King's court, where they will be set out upon their perilous and lucrative journey as a group. No specifics as to how each of you decide how this goes down so be as creative as you like. Also take as much time as you need to reach this point, say 1 to 3 posts, using this time to set up a backdrop and feel for your character's demeanor and style. Once all of us reach this point I will narrate the small bit with the meeting.

Very minimal. A paragraph or two should do fine. I don't see much point in having much on the CS as they are going to be grouped, I'm sure that most of it will come out in the rp, so no need to write it twice. Kind of adds to the anticipation and expectations they might have when interacting with one another, saves a bit for surprise. Also go very minimal on equipment and stuff too. There will be lots of item acquisition later on so. Thieves should pack light anyway.

aight... I'm thinking the son of a thief whose father was also a thief, expected to carry the family line, but who really would have done better as a magical healer based on his innate skills. Expect much incompetency :P

You're more than welcome to @SantosGabriel77. We are still getting this up and running so feel free to add any ideas you might have, or if you have any context you'd like to discuss on what is already establish that'd be great too.

@The Angry Goat That sounds great. Just make sure that your healing capabilities aren't crazy outrageous or anything. I'm trying to keep excessive magic to a minimum. I don't mind the ability to heal by any means, just don't make like a crazy Final Fantasy type ordeal.. Healing should be sparse and should require a great deal from the player to pull off, very draining on the body or what have you..

Another approach would be a person keen on making elixirs or concoctions. This would also require a bit of magic as well and some preparation, but even within the group this could prove to be lucrative for your character. Awesome idea though, way to be creative. I very much like the son and bumbling apprentice idea a lot.. Kudos.

Background:

Gail’s mother died early, trying to give birth to her daughter. Both died, and Gail’s father was left to raise him. Ryredan Caradec was born and raised a thief, a master of the slight of hand and guile of language. While his son was able to quickly pick up on the family’s smooth talking ways, he shaky hands proved useless for many of the tasks his father set before him, and grew up constantly berated.
These shaky hands proved to be more than just a benign curse, however, as Gail learned after cutting himself on the hand making dinner, accidentally healing the wound he had just created, then passing out for three hours. His father was certainly worried when he came home to his 14-year-old child sleeping on the floor of their hovel, but didn’t believe his story, thinking he was just trying to excuse his laziness with a myth. When Gail repeated this same miracle later after burning his finger on the stove, this time with his father present, Ryredan realized the possibilities, and lifted a book on healing from a bookstore in town, hoping that his son’s abilities would be profitable. Unfortunately, when he discovered just how long it took to build up the strength to make even simple potions, he gave up on the whole escapade – what use was this magic if it couldn’t restore entire bones, or cure the town lepers and get his son looked at – and treated like a god? Unfortunately, when he was caught in the middle of robbing the house of a noble a year later, he didn’t have much of a chance to impose his own limitations on his son, or anyone else for that matter.
At least it was just exile.
Since the age of 15, Gail has been on his own, doing his best to carry on his father’s legacy while learning about his own skills. Theft is all he knows and all he was taught, though he has rarely succeeded in stealing anything large. He has, however, learned that people will pay surprisingly well for a liquid that helps to remove acne, among other small ailments, if they can afford it.
Magic, though rudimentary, still has its uses. Those blessed with the skill to restore living things from their injuries will find that it takes a great toll on their bodies to heal anything at all, and the magic is wild and unpredictable. By learning sets of movements and incantations, one can learn to carefully transfer this magic into water or other liquids. This must be done in small amounts, or the process will completely wear out the user. As it is, the amount of magic required for tasks increases with the scale of what they heal – learning to funnel ones magic into a potion that helps a body fight an infection is not too difficult. Trying to heal broken bones? That might take a day or two in total of focus and preparation for a bottle the size of a shot glass (though on the bright side, he can stretch the process over multiple days, a few hours at a time). At this point, Gail is capable of quickly healing small nicks and scratches without much effort, but will be seriously incapacitated if he needs to heal even a moderate injury. his potions could potentially produce a wide variety of useful effects, if he can figure out how to achieve it. they will not, however, put back together someone whose guts are hanging out.

Personal Effects:
4 small glass jars with stoppers on them, empty
A small completed potion; will reduce swelling from sores and acne if dripped over affected area
Another small potion, the most powerful he’s been able to create, capable of massively accelerating the healing process of broken bones if ingested.
A knife
Some bread he found on the walk home. It doesn’t look moldy?

@The Angry Goat I love this dude.. very cool. I love how you made his hands shaky and the whole character is done very well. Only thing I would change is the knife fighting skillset to something else. We will assume that whichever weapons they use are the most proficient for them. I don't want to have to do a bunch of unnecessary dice rolling if possible so I tried to keep everything simple. We will just use a 1 D10 as a base for all combat so that's better than a 1 anyway, unless you want to add an inhibitor to him on purpose.. Its going to be mostly story telling so I wouldn't worry too much about all that. But this will give you another skill without having to waste any points on that.

He is awesome man.. very cool.

Trying to spruce up everything and throw a couple of images up. @the Angry Goat Feel free to post whenever you like. I don't guess there needs to be a hierarchy on who posts when or anything.. especially as slow as it's going. I'm still trying to get up some more people, but I can always add them in later on.

Demeanor: Lys appears to be a warm, loving and kind mind. He is quick and easy with the words. He is a smooth talker, warming up to people quickly. If he does not receive a warm reception from someone, he does not waste his time with that person, moving on to his next mark. Lys enjoys gaining the confidence of someone in order to trick them out of their possessions or outright steal it from them.

Background:

Lysander Cowles, also known as Lys (“Lee”) grew up in a port city to a dock-working father and loving mother. That was the first ten years of his life. Both parents died in a storm, leaving their young son to fend for himself. He took over the work of his father hauling freight onto ships or unloading ships onto the docks. He received sufficient money to buy clothing and food for his sustenance. Lysander Cowles had no home.


The home his parents resided in was owned by a gentleman who did not see a profit in allowing a child to reside there alone. Lys was forced to live on the streets of Rockport, a port city located about sixty kilometers south of Guillian and more than a few hundred kilometers north of Avondyllac. The city traded in fish and other commodities, insignificant quantities to the bustling trade of the Empire of Nine’s Capital to the north. There were honestly more fishing vessels in Rockport than other incidental trade.


Lysander was a student of human behavior observing the interactions of all sorts. He acquired a keen understanding of motivations of men. He was able to use this knowledge to manipulate a situation, gaining confidence and tricking people out of their possessions.


By the time he was 16, the master longshoreman grew tired of Lysander’s games and fired him. The local City’s Watch no longer wanted him in the city; his reputation had grown. The young master Cowles traveled the Empire of the Nines making a living any way he could, relying on his skills to help him survive.


During the twenty-five years of wandering the Empire, Lys has taken on various identities including a minor lord from a little known western province, named Lord Ser Geoffrey Martin. His other identities help conceal his true identity. In fact, he rarely tells people his real name trusting no one.


He has acquired a modest wardrobe of clothing of various earthen and darkened colors tailored to his various identities. He has developed a penchant for acting or role playing as a result of his disguises. Upon his left breast, he wears a silver brooch helping him identify with the character he is currently portraying. For Mord Bachand he wears a silver palm tree. For Lord Ser Geoffrey Martin he wears a silver thistle. For Malachai Winslow he wears a silver crescent moon arcing over three small stars. For Creighton Fellows he wears a silver blooming lily.


He rents a small hovel near the edge of the Market district and a nearby residential area in the city of Guillian. In his small room, there is a bed and a chest of drawers containing his modest collection of clothing, brooches and other tricks of his trade. Lysander has been in Guillian for the past year and is currently known by the name Creighton Fellows by those who come in contact with him.

@Gunther Very nice, and very glad to have you. No changes to character sheet are necessary. Go ahead and place him in the Character list. Also on the D&d comment, this is more of a story telling rp, based more along the lines of White Wolf's Vampire games, where the story takes lead over rules or guidelines.
There are a few rolls, but these are just used to steer a post rather than to determine whether or not someone wins or loses anything. Like if you are going to have your character shoot at someone, and the intent of your character is to do so with lethality, but you roll a poor number instead, this allows for improv writing, and makes us step back to rethink our posts. Other than that it isn't going to be a back and forth with the die roller..

If your character encounters a fight, don't roll for each blow or anything like that, just assume that the one roll signifies the entire encounter and base your posts on that. If the number is on the lower side, just incorporate a few setbacks or failures into the outcome. Just trying to allow for some randomness in the posts.. I feel as though we often times have a set post in our minds before we even start typing, this method should help to add some spice, and genuine spontaneity.

The only thing I would maybe add to your character is some sort of flaw, or some trait or characteristic that often leads Lysander to the path of hard luck. For example, my character Y'Vanna is a lush and addicted to or willing to do just about any sort of intoxicant, or like Gail, who has shaky hands or tinges of awkwardness or clumsiness. Something to put a bit of a chip on his shoulder. He already seems to be a bridge burner of sorts so I guess that could count, or maybe he is so dishonest or less than trustworthy, even for a thief.

Other than that he is wonderful, and again its good to have you on. Feel free to post at your convenience.

@Arkitekt Thanks for posting this. I believed this was your intent before I started writing the CS. I in no way confused this Role Play with a tabletop RPG I played almost 40 years ago.

I did base Lys Cowles on Petyr Baelish, from a Song of Ice and Fire. I even stole an image of Aiden Gillen who plays "Littlefinger" on Game of Thrones. What you suggest as his flaw, is where I was heading. He does tend to piss people off and if he remains in the same place for too long, he will burn a bridge and could get chased out of town if not worse. Look what happened to Lord Baelish in Season 7, GoT. Unless, someone in a high place take him under their wing, offering protection.

@Gunther Thank you and this is fine. I would very much like an asshole and lar on board in the party. This should make for an interesting character to say the least. I am also almost forty myself. I just wanted to make sure that everyone was clear about the rolling situation. I very much like WW structure and story based play, a lot more than sifting through endless books and rules. I feel like all of that can take away from a story at times.

@The Angry Goat, @Gunther, One more thing very quick. If I could get you guys to put your characters in hiders just to make it a bit quicker to navigate around since images and stuff take up a lot of space. This should keep everyone's characters up close to the top for easy use. Also doing this will make it easier to add multiple characters if you'd like, or perhaps to add in contacts or npc's you might want to bring in with a bit of info as well.. Thanks!

I also added flaws into the character sheet just under demeanor. Just so everyone has a specific or several specific flaws to contend with.
