Yavanna felt him flinch slightly, from surprise. As she looked at him with tenderness, Yavanna just savored the moment. Her hand was soft, warm against his sensitive skin. As his hand reached up to touch hers, she kept her hand there against his cheek gently. Her thumb gently brushed over his hand. She wondered what he was thinking.

She appreciated that he had opened up to her in Gundabad earlier on...it hadn't been easy. But it made her feel bit closer to him. And it also made it harder for her to want to leave. Not that she wanted to. But she knew she might eventually have to part with him for some reason. It wasn't a particularly nice thought; but more a truth, that'd they have to face one day..she finally broke the silence. "Are you okay?" she asked him softly. Her voice soft, tender as always.

Legolas gave a sigh, before he opened his eyes again, having to look at the ground while keeping his hand on her own. "I don't know", he said, almost in sadness and confusion. He never thought he could love again, not after what happened to his mother. That didn't mean he didn't love his father dearly; it just meant that this warmer side of him hasn't been expressed in such a long time. There was a battle between his negative and positive feelings, and he wasn't sure what to make of it towards the young she-elf before him. Could it be...that his father may have been right on what he felt towards her? Was he feeling that same feeling that he felt back in Mirkwood?

He swallowed on the spot, before looking back up at her. "What about you?", he tried to switch the question towards her, stubborn as always.

Yavanna's look turned into concern...as he looked down. "You know...you can tell me. I won't judge...I promise." she said softly. The young elf, had never judged him...it wasn't her to be judgmental towards people. "If you want too.." she added softly. It's not like she'd force anything out of him. But she was there, if he wanted to talk and open up. She was, Someone that would listen.

And I thought, I was stubborn. Yavanna thought to herself. Noticing that Stubborn streak to him again. "I wouldn't be okay, if it wasn't for you." she said softly and honestly. He had saved her life on more than one occasion...and without him; she probably wouldn't be standing in his arms right now.

Legolas looked at her, before looking back down to the ground when she spoke. It took him a while to think of the right thin to say, but he couldn't find the right words to say to her. It felt that it was too early to say such things, so he said nothing; not to really hurt her feelings but to get her to understand his refusal to say what's on his mind. "We should find your friends", he said instead. He took her hand away from his cheek, but still held it, when he said this, before letting go, and turning around, just to see Tauriel ahead. She seemed to have watched for some time, but Legolas saw something else in her features. Something bad has happened...

Yavanna wasn't sure if she was expecting him to say something. But maybe a little bit of her hoped, he might open up a little. When nothing came, she just gave him a soft smile...her hand squeezed his softly. She didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable; or like she was trying to get him to open up. Maybe him changing the subject was a good thing.

As they turned around...she noticed Tauriel not far off. Tauriel had been in the 'bad' spot where one could see both the body of Thorin where Bilbo was mourning and Fili...where Saeril and Kili were. The red-haired elf wasn't sure how to break it to Yavanna...but she knew, her going alone might not be so good.

"Tauriel...what's wrong?" Yavanna asked, as she and Legolas got closer.

Hearing her voice; made Tauriel turn around. Her eyes were sad, filled with a sympathy and sadness. And something that Yavanna knew well. That similar look, everyone had when her mother went missing. That look, told her something bad had happened. "I am so sorry..." Tauriel whispered.

Tauriel's words made Yavanna flinch slightly...she knew that tone of voice. "No...no...it can't.." she breathed out...until she looked down to the right to see what Tauriel had spotted. Yavanna's eyes widened filling up with tears...as she let out a choked gasp that turned into a sob. She felt like her knees might buckle beneath her any moment. Thorin and Fili were dead...gone..Their lifeless bodies in her view. Then it hit her...Saeriel's shriek from earlier. That must have been around Fili's death...

Saeril took notice upon Yavanna when the younger she-elf appeared. The elder made the face of sorrow while also giving her a silent apology. Standing up from her spot, from next to Kili, and approached the princess. She wanted to thank Legolas for keeping the girl safe, but there were no feelings of happiness around them to express such things. There was no time for a reunion, but only grief and mourning for the loss of the king and his eldest heir. The only move she could make was to hug Yavanna, both thankful for her to still be alive, as well as to comfort her at the same time. The elder didn't shed a tear, but still felt pain within her heart. She wasn't able to save Fili in time, and the memory was still fresh when the eldest told her to find Kili and run. He was practically telling her to watch the younger for him, while he can't. This was the same promise, as well as a new one that she will keep.

Legolas stood by Tauriel as he watched the sorrow of the dwarves and the two she-Elves. Just by watching the girl shedding tears, that's when he realized that she didn't just befriend these dwarves, she became a part of their family; how foolish he was to not realize the deeper connection she had with such a race that may not seem to the best of all of them.

When Saeril approached her...Yavanna's green eyes had turned blue in grief and Sadness. Tauriel was one of the few, whom noticed the change to Yavanna's eyes...even Yavanna's glow...seemed to be flickering on and off, from her grief. She knew, that Legolas nor his father weren't fond of the Dwarves...but it was sad to see...Yavanna grieving. It was clear, that they had meant a lot to her. Tauriel stood beside Legolas, in silence. But gave Saeril a sad look of her apologizes and condolences for their loss.

As the eldest she elf, wrapped arms around her. Yavanna broke down...her face hiding in her shoulder. As she cried, trembling in her arms.

Kili on the other hand, was silent in his grief. It dawned on him, that he'd have to take over King from his uncle. But he wasn't...sure he wanted to. It was supposed to be his uncle...but nothing felt the same anymore. His uncle was gone...his elder brother wasn't here anymore either. Their home...felt incomplete without them both. He closed his eyes, as he heard Yavanna...her grieving made his heart clench. Kili knew how she was close to Fili...she had considered them both...even his uncle Family.

Saeril held the young she-elf in her arms, comforting her the best she could, to how a mother would for her child. She could only feel relieved that Yavanna didn't get to see his death, otherwise, it would hurt her a lot more than how it currently did. The worst part, she could get a broken heart, and her light would fade forever. The winged she-elf didn't want that for her; for it would be the last thing. Her wings transforming back into her cloak, the elder kept the young one in her grasp, closing her eyes.

Legolas could only watch, having to feel the pain coming from the girl. He came to notice that her light was fading, in response to her sadness. That light was what attached him to her; the light that made him wonder about her; think of her, though his even more stronger feelings for her came from the heart. He honestly wanted to hold her again; make her crying cease, and bring back the light he had always found within her soul. How he had longed to see her glow again...

Tauriel noticed the way Legolas was watching Yavanna. It almost felt like she could read his thoughts..she nodded her head gently towards the two she-elves...as if telling him; to follow what his heart and thoughts were telling him to do, in wanting to comfort her. She wondered, if Legolas might help bring her glow back. It seemed, like the young elf always seemed to glow, more around the Prince.

As Saeril held her in her arms, her lightly was slowly dimming...and the flickering seemed to stop. Her light very faint...almost gone. Just like it had been gone for a time back in Rivendell. Elves were known to die of a broken-heart, it was one of the few things that could kill them. Although, she hadn't known anyone to die of such cause yet.
The world felt a little more dull, with the loss of Fili and Thorin. The pair did not know so many things, especially Thorin. How Yavanna had cared for him. She wished, that turning time would be possible. To bring them back...or to have arrived earlier...to have at least tried to save them both.

Legolas looked at Tauriel, having to notice that she may have been reading his thoughts. Looking back to the young she-elf in Saeril's arms, the elf prince reluctantly approached him. This didn't go unnoticed by the older she-elf, and she responded by releasing herself slowly from the girl, leaving a lingering kiss upon her forehead, before letting the blonde take her place. He wasn't too far away from the younger, but he completed the distance by enveloping her in his arms. His one hand being gently set on the back of her head, while allowing his cheek to touch the top of her head. He wasn't sure how exactly to comfort her, but all he could do was hold her, allow her to feel into his embrace, and hopefully bring that light back.

Saeril moved back to Kili, who was still sitting next to the body of his brother, and gently tapped on his shoulder, silently telling him to stand up, and let the other dwarves take the bodies away for the funeral.

Yavanna's crying hadn't really stopped...her grief and pain too fresh. As she felt Saeril release her..she let her go, silently. As Yavanna felt Legolas' arms wrap around her...another sob escaped her. Moving against his chest...Yavanna rested her head on his strong chest...her own arms wrapped around him. Tears run down her cheeks..sinking through the material of his clothing. As she cried...Yavanna felt the warmth and security of his arms around her. It brought back the feelings and memories of not so long ago...when he caught her in his arms. How safe he made her feel.

Her crying, was slowly getting weaker...as her cries turned into light sobs and whimpers. Like an inner battle with herself, to try and remain strong for everyone around her. Especially Kili and Saeril. Bilbo had been sitting not so far away, from them on a rock....watching in sadness.

Feeling his God-mothers tap. Kili reluctantly moved away from his brother's body. Glancing to his side, he saw Legolas trying to comfort Yavanna. Before he noticed the presence of someone else. King Thranduil. It seemed like the elder elf, had been looking for his son.

Tauriel could hear Yavanna's crying slowly coming to stop. When she saw Kili looking behind her...she glanced over her shoulder, to see Legolas' father. This didn't seem like the best timing with everything...but she gathered, he had been worried about his son...if that was possible.

Legolas held young Yavanna within his arms, having to close his eyes briefly, and let her relieve her pain, as well as release the amount of sadness she had contained. If only there was a way to make her smile again; that beautiful, innocent smile she makes when the more joyful of moments come; a smile that made his own exterior crack, and amusingly enjoy seeing again. He wanted her to look up, and show him those glowing green eyes he saw not too long ago, when they had their moment of sharing an embrace. But now, he was seeing the sad side of her; the negative aspect of her personality. But even she did look up, the Elf Prince would still be able to savor them (even though he was unaware of their earlier color change).

However, when he heard some footsteps nearby, the blonde opened his eyes, and looked in the direction of the noise, having to see his father approaching the scene. He slowly put away from Yavanna, but held both of her hands reassuringly, lightly squeezing them. "Father", he said.

As Legolas held onto her...Yavanna had closed her eyes. Listening to his heartbeat...feeling the warmth and protectiveness of his embrace. It seemed to have soothed her. As her sobs died down...a little bit of her light was returning. It was still somewhat weak due to her sadness. But the Prince managed to bring back her glow. As she looked up; her eyes were a odd mix of her Emerald and the sad blue. They were mainly on the blue side, with a few specs of green, returning.

"Your Majesty.." Yavanna breathed out; her voice low...even her soft warm voice, sounded sad. Feeling Legolas squeeze her hands...her hands squeezed his back. Holding onto them, not wanting to let go.

Thranduil had stopped, at the bottom of the steps. Seeing the sadness that Yavanna seemed to be displaying. It was odd for him to see her upset..it was almost unlike her. Seeing the Dwarves moving the dead bodies of King Thorin and one of his Nephews. Thranduil gathered, their deaths had made and impact on the young-elf. That she really cared for them.

"I am glad to see you are safe." he spoke; his words aimed towards his son and even maybe Yavanna. "I hope, you would consider coming home." he said to his son.

Hearing his father speak to them, Legolas kept his hold on the young she-elf, even when his father mentioned for him to come home. To think of it, the Elf Prince looked back at Yavanna. "I...cannot go back", he said, making up his mind to remain with the group; the girl, in particular.

Yavanna looked down at the ground slightly..as Thranduil spoke to his son. Before glancing at Legolas, her mostly blue eyes looking back at him for a few moments...wondering where he was planning to go.

"Where will you go?" Thranduil asked looking at his son. A little hint of sadness in his eyes to see his son leaving, behind his home. But seeing the way he looked at the young she-elf warmed his heart.

"I do not know", he confessed, though by looking back at Yavanna, he admitted that he didn't know where he may go next. He didn't know where she should go, either with her or on his own.

Yavanna was quiet, letting them two talk. Her hands remained in Legolas'. Yavanna did not know, what would be her path now, with the death of Thorin and Fili. Or where her group, might go...or if they'd stay.

Thranduil looked at his son; seeing the conflict in his eyes. "Go...where your heart tells you to." he told him softly. With that, meaning for his son to stay with Yavanna. "But if you need, some time for yourself...go North. Find the Dunadine. There's a young Ranger among them. His father Arathorn, was a good man...his son, might grow to be a great one."

As much as he wants to stay with Yavanna, he has to look within himself if his feelings for the young she-elf were true. A little of self-discovery should help him clear his thoughts, and let think on the princess in a more clearer light. So, by looking at the she-elf, he hoped that she would potentially understand his decision. "What is his name?", he asked his father, having to keep his eyes with the girl, while doing so.

"In the wild, he's known as Strider.- His true name, you have to discover for yourself." Thranduil told his son. The Elvenking paused for a bit; he looked like he wanted to say a few more things. He needed to. "Legolas...your mother loved you; more than anyone...more than life...." It was probably the first time, he spoke to his son about his mother. It wasn't easy...nor was it easy for Thranduil to express his own love for his son. But he was proud of Legolas and loved him. "As do I..."

As Legolas looked at her; Yavanna squeezed his hands softly. Giving him a slight nod. If anything, she understood his decision. Whilst, she would miss him...she also knew, they'd find their way back to each other...somehow. But she felt the need to stay with Saeril and Kili. As Thranduil mentioned his wife to his son...Yavanna had looked at him her blue-ish eyes with tenderness. She knew, that his father loved him.

The King then turned to Yavanna...his hand reached out to touch her cheek with a fatherly like touch. "Thank you.." he spoke to her.

Yavanna blinked surprised. "For...what?" she asked The Elvenking.
"For being the light and happiness in my Son's life." Thranduil spoke softly. "He lost too much, but I am glad there's hope within his life. I know his mother, would have very much loved you...if she were here." Knowing how much Yavanna and his wife were so much alike; the two would have gotten on very nicely. Smiling at her a little sadly, he spoke. "I know your mother, would be proud of you...what strong, loving, young woman you turned into." The Elvenking pressed a kiss to both her and his son's forehead...as a gesture of his goodbye. Before leaving.
Yavanna blinked a little...his words had surprised her. And it felt...different. No one had mentioned her mother for so long either..especially not with such words.

Tauriel had been quiet, not wanting to get in the way of the conversation. But hearing, what King Thranduil said to Yavanna, about her mother. It made Tauriel wonder. Did Yavanna loose her own mother? The young she-elf hadn't mentioned it...maybe the wounds were still too fresh, for her to. But a part of her wondered, just how much she and Legolas had in common.

When the mention of his mother came, Legolas was just as surprised when his father had brought it up for the first time after so many years. He looked down at the recall of the memory, even while Yavanna looked at him with her tender eyes. He looked back up again to see his father touch Yavanna in such a gentle manner. Maybe the Elf Prince was right to realize that the princess contained a lot of traits that would relate to his mother, as well as his father's wife. Maybe that was why he was attracted to her in the first place; why he was getting these such strong feelings for her. Plus, when he heard about what happened the girl's own mother, something in him told that perhaps she was right on what it felt like to lose someone dear.

When his father left, Legolas looked back at the princess, having to understand her a little better than how he initially thought. At this rate, they were currently at the same level of pain and loss.
