Every week (Monday-Friday) we will have a new game turn, which is one month of game time. Your post should be you establishing guidelines for your country to follow in terms of military, diplomatic and civilian actions and should an event not being taken into account in your post for this turn happens, it will be assumed that your subordinates react to the best of their capabilities abeit without much imagination
For example:
A month in the middle of the Germano-Soviet war.
The german player announces a new offensive with the aim of taking Moscow by storm by first going south through the steppes and then climbing north toward the city with an offensive in the northern forests to keep the Russian forces busy.
Meanwhile, the Russian player announces its intention to fight defensively and that should Germans attack, to waste as much of their resources as possible via delaying tactics and scorched earth to hold them.
Now, it is the GM's job to decide what happens. For example, the GM will consider their objectives: Germany wants a decisive blow, this will increase their chances of a critical success but this is also a risky plan so their chances of general success are diminished somewhat. It should also be noted this is autumn and the weather is generally poor and along with that, its the third post (third in game month) that Germany makes pushes against the soviets, so their troops are begining to be exausted. Though, they have a lot of experience from previous wars in Poland and France so that will help them. The Russians on the other hand simply want to delay the enemy and gain time at the cost of useless land, so their chance of having a marginal victory and 'hold on' are high, but the likelihood of inflicting heavy casualties on the germans in the process are low. The Russians are ill equiped but they fight on their home territory and their moral his high due to halting the previous German offensive.
The roles are based off the attacker's chances of success. For this example, say the GM gives germany a 35% chance of winning, but winning could hold great results!
On a roll of 5: Critical success! The weather is fair and emboldens the german forces that storm through the plains and disorganized Russian defenders who are quickly overrun. The Germans storm in Moscow and manage to hoist their flag on the Kremlin! The first battle for Moscow is won and Germany is in a good spot to consolidate its wins as long as a russian counter offensive doesn't cut them off.
On a roll of 30: Success! The germans accomplish some of their objectives and despite constant delays are in sight of moscow. The Russians however have managed to stall long enough that the city had time to prepare its defenses and road blocks have been established by demolishing buildings as a small army of conscripted soviet men, women and child hold the city desperately. The situation however dire for the Soviet capital as the germans are confident they can finally succeed where napoleon failed!
On a roll of 50: Failure. Delays after delays and an increasingly long supply line caused the germans to lose momentum before they could accomplish their objectives. They are closer to Moscow and still claim victory, but it feels hollow. The land is worthless, the casualties high and Moscow still out of reach.
On a roll of 90: Critical Failure. The arrogance of the germans is now the noose around their neck. Advancing boldly and leaving many pockets to be wiped out by the foot soldiers behind them, the armored spearhead went too far too quickly and is now encircled deep within enemy territory! The pride of the german army, threatened with anihilation! They came far enough to see the roof tops of Moscow but if now quickly rescues, they shall see Siberia and the soviet prisoner work camps.
