Welcome to Libra, the game based on Kekkai Sensen. You do not have to have seen Kekkei Sensen in order to role play here, but if you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out because it is a very enjoyable anime. This is going to be an original take on Kekkai Sensen, so there will be no characters from the canon here. You can expect comedy, serious moments, and inter-dimensional chaos.
Three years ago from our current time, a gateway between Earth and the Beyond opened over the city of New York. In one terrible night, New York was destroyed and rebuilt, trapping New Yorkers and extradimensional creatures in an impenetrable bubble. New York has now been rechristened New Jerusalem, a paranormal melting pot where magic and madness dwell alongside the mundane, where every form of human vermin gathers to exploit otherworldly assets for earthly profit. Now someone is threatening to breach the bubble and release New Jerusalem’s horrors, but the mysterious superagents of Libra fight to prevent the unthinkable.
Libra is a secret organization in Hellsalem’s Lot, the main sector of New Jerusalem and the main setting where our game takes place. It is dedicated to protecting the balance between Earth and the AlterWorld. There are currently only 13 members of Libra.
Libra’s members operate both inside and outside the city and are typically blood-technique users or some description of superhuman. The full scope of the organization is unknown, and due to its secretive nature, precise information regarding the organization is said to be worth billions to the criminal underworld. Law-enforcement agencies within Hellsalem’s Lot all appear to be after Libra, probably due to their vigilante activities. However, the police have been shown to cooperate with Libra in severe circumstances to achieve a common goal.
The Thirteen Kings are a faction of Beyondians and despite its name, even has female members bearing the title of queen. Each member has a title associated with a characteristic vice. So at times, you can figure out their power or abilities based on their title such as “King of Decay” for example.
A Blood Breed is a powerful creature from the Alterworld. Blood Breeds are some of the strongest antagonists, able to give Libra considerable trouble in battle. In contrast to the average creature from Alterworld, Blood Breeds are quire savage and blood-thirsty.
An upper-class subset called the Elder Blood Breed exist, which are more dangerous than the average Blood Breed. Originally thought by Libra to only number thirteen, they learned recently that there are much more. They are very similar to vampires and basically function in the same way except if one were to know the Blood Breed’s name, then one would be able to seal the Blood Breed away forever if not destroy him or her.
I have given you the basic layout of the game. Now let me tell you what the prohibited character concepts are:
1. No Clones. This will be an original spin on the fandom. I do not want to see a Klaus clone. I don’t care if you changed his name. If he acts and even functions like Klaus, then he’s Klaus, so please avoid making a character copy.
2. Blood Breed and the Thirteen Kings are not playable. The Blood Breed and the Thirteen Kings are the villains in this game. You will not be able to play them as “good guys.” They cannot be turned to the good side. Vampires are also not acceptable because they are basically Blood Breed.
3. Werewolf Explanation. The Werewolves are not what we know them as. They are “Invisible Werewolves.” They are human in appearance and do not transform into a werebeast. They instead are humans with heightened agility, senses, and athleticism, who can go invisible/intangible. They are also mostly employed by the Werewolf Bureau. The Werewolf Buraeu functions as a special task force for infiltrating the abode or place of business of a threat and executing him, her, or it. You can be a member of the Werewolf Bureau and also a member of Libra. However, you cannot spill information between bureaus.
4. No God-like Powers. If you are roleplaying a superhuman agent, then your powers primarily come from your blood. You also can only choose one power theme. You cannot have multiple. So if your power theme is fire, then you only have techniques that involve fire. This is the list of banned powers: Time Manipulation, Space and Reality Manipulation, Molecule Manipulation (in the sense that you cannot manipulate ALL molecules), Matter Manipulation, Organic Matter Manipulation (unless it involves the self and no one else), and Instant Death.
5. No Mary Sues/Gary Stus. This should be self-explanatory, but in case you don’t know it. It means no character who lives this perfect life, knows everything, and is just the best thing since sliced bread. Your character should be a believable personality. I mean, this is an anime-style game, so I know that can only go so far lol.
6. No Duplicate Powers. If someone claimed the power in the OOC, then it is their power. I do not care if you spent hours writing a CS. If that person claimed it first, unless they decide not to join the game, then that will be the only way that that power will be up for grabs. So I do recommend you call dibs or just pray no one will pick it.
7. You have to be apart of Libra. This game has 13 spots and they’re all Libra agents. I don’t want 10 of those spots being characters who are lost, need to find a place to belong, and thus need to be recruited. You can be a new agent, but no matter what, you’ll be in Libra.
If I have to make more character-building rules, then I will. I do not care how you design the below CS as long as the information below is included in it. It MUST be mentioned in the CS.
1. Do not come to this game to argue. If you read over this recruitment thread, and saw something that you didn't like, then move on.
2. Whatever the GM says goes. I try to be fair to the best of my ability. However, I do not try to please the world nor do I care to. If we discuss an issue and we can't seem to come to an agreement, then it is best that the issue is dropped.
3. Images. Be mindful of the size of your images. If it is too big for the screen, then put a hider around it or make it a url.
4. No Neon/Somber Fonts. Do not blind your readers with neon fonts or force your readers to have to highlight the text in order to read your post. Such font colors are not allowed.
5. Read my Game. I did not write this for my health. I wrote this mostly for you than for me. The number one way to get on my shit list is to show me that you didn't read my game. The best way you do this is by frequently asking me questions that are answered in the damn OP. If I suspect you're not thoroughly reading this OP, then I'm going to stop caring and you're not going to be allowed in this game. Why would I allow a person whose hand I would have to hold throughout the game because they don't want to read a freakin' text role play game on a text role play site?
6. GM questions. If you ask a question, mention me. If you're talking to me, mention me. If you want my attention mention me because that is what that button is for. If it looks like I ignored you, 99.9% of the time it is because you didn't mention me and I lost your comment or question in the OOC flood. Mention me. Mention me. Mention me. I have to repeat this because people don't do it.
7. Be open and friendly. I am very big on character interaction. It is often overlooked in games. Please collaborate with other writers in this game. This game will become way more interesting if you do.
8. Romance. I like romance. Some of us do. But if you plan on walking the borderline of the Guild rules, then take it into PMs.
9. This is not a Free Game. This game is very casual but it is not free. If I see one or two line posts in this game, then I'll get rid of you and tell you to go RP in the Free section. Why? Because this is the casual section and I don't want free role players frustrating my casual writers who will at least be writing you a paragraph or more. If you cannot post at least 300 words, then this game is not for you.
10. Have fun. There is only so much I can do as a GM. I cannot make you have fun. I cannot make you enjoy the character that you created. I cannot make you seek out writers to collaborate with. All I do is guide the game and make sure everything goes forward and not backwards. You have to do the rest. So please make the most of this game.
When you write interested, please be sure to mention what ability theme that you will be using so that I can reserve you with it until your CS is submitted. This is what keeps other writers from choosing the same ability.
