I'm currently working on Shogun by James Clavell, which is a historical fiction novel that takes place a couple of months before the famous Battle of Sekigahara. A very good read.

*Having a feeling that I'm going to get burned for my literature*

Fanfiction. XDD It fixes all the rage points from the real stories. Well... mostly anyway. Heh....
I prefer detective novels like Sherlock Holmes or the ones written by Agatha Christie.

Nothing wrong with fanfic so long as its GOOD in my book. Hell I've been tempted to RP gears of War just to play around in that universe.

Sounds intrigueing. SO MANY BOOKS I MUST LOOK INTO! GAARGH!!

In other news, I'm about halfway now in Jacinto's Remnant. I really advise fans of the gears universe to read the Karen Traviss books. That lady knows how to WRITE!

Its been a while since I've read anything good. I prefer young adult fiction. They are more entertaining. Tamora Pierce and Erin Hunter are the two authors I've read the most. I've read Spitfire, Grimmpow, The Forever King(awesome), The Fire Within(and all sequels). As you can see, I like magic and legends.

I have been known to pick up the occational Dragon Lance book. Last one I remember reading was the Kinslayer wars. I also steal my sisters romance books when I don't have anything to read. I started The Familiar Dragon, but I..... misplaced it.

As for manga, I stopped reading it a couple years ago because I read them all. Zombie Powder, Jing the Bandit, Alice 19, Eyeshield 21, Crimson Hero, Claymore, and quite a few others. My manga is more diverse than my novels.

I default to classics, like a total tool, but such is life.... Working on Holmes right now, which is actually pretty satisfying for me as a fan of the BBC show (there's a lot of in-jokes and wink-wink-nudge for readers in the show, like the blowdart midget in Sign of the Three).

For the more modern stuff, ASoIaF was great entertainment; my mother met Lee Child at a book signing and got a ladyboner, so now I'm supposed to read the Jack Reacher series -- could be a lot worse. I dug the whole 'Millennium Trilogy' (Girl With Dragon Tattoo).... what else..... honestly right now I'm very distracted by television and games. There's a lot of unread shit on my book-plate. Maybe when basketball season's over I'll get back to work.

Fantasy Authors --
Brandon Sanderson (Elantris, Book of Radiance series, Warbreaker, Wheel of Time)
Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Anansi Boys, Neverwhere, Stardust, Good Omens, etc)
Jim C. Hines (Goblin Quest Trilogy)
Terry Pratchett (Diskworld Series)
Jim Butcher (Dresden Files Series)
Justin Somper (Vampirate Series)
Matthew Cook (Ballad of Kirin Widowmaker)
Garth Nix (Keys to the Kingdom Series, Seventh Tower Series, Shade's Children)
Philip Pullman (His Dark Materials series)
Christopher Paolini (Inheritance Series)
Katie McAllister (Aisling Grey Guardian novels, Silver Dragon novels, random other various standalones)

The above is just what I can remember off the top of my head and just in fantasy. There are other authors I enjoy from other genres and some I'm not sure how to place. I understand some of my reading materials may be geared to a younger audience, or even a very female crowd... but ya know, I don't care so much at times, so long as I can enjoy the read and it has a good story. :3

I tried Claymore but I just didn't like the style. Got as far as the 2nd volume before giving up. I can't even place a reason other than it just did not grab me sadly. Though I did like a few of the ideas.

I'm not surprised, Claymore was difficult for me to follow at first. Its pretty slow in the beginning, but as it gets going, the story gets more interesting. There is an anime version too, if you are in to that.

You almost say that with distain Shurikai. I do like anime but I don't really do much other than write, game and go out for strolls (odd me is odd lol). I tried the anime pilot but I think it's just the general style that isn't my type. I should probably give it another go to be fair. I still need to finish the series Moribito and then watch Sword of a Stranger.

As for books has anyone heard of the painted man?

Oh my gosh, I used to read a lot of Erin Hunter in middle school. The Warriors series was really addicting, but after a while a new book was coming out like every month, so I couldn't keep up. Is that series still going?

I use to watch a lot of anime. Almost ruined my life. A hyperbole, but still.

My sister and I started Moribito, it was pretty good, one of the few she actually liked. She didn't like anime as much as I did. There was one that was soooo boring but interesting that I would watch it, but I can't remember what it was called. Think it started with an M too.. OH! Mushishi. Most boring anime I have ever seen.

I honestly I have no idea. I got to the Fourth Apprentice and that was the last one my library had. I started The Seekers(bears) but I didn't get the same connection. Maybe its because I love cats more. Either way, I heard she started one about dogs. I haven't read any of those. Not sure I plan on it either.

I keep up with a lot of media from light novels, books, manga, and anime. Recently, going back through time to search out old animes that I missed the first time around. Just finished Blue Gender and I recommend it if you want to see something similar to Attack on Titans.

Light Novels

Books

Manga

Anime
