STORY

A long time ago, it was said that magic and control of supernatural powers couldn't be possible, and that science was the maximum point of reference to explain any strange phenomenon in the forces of nature. These foolish people were proven wrong with the consequent appearence of Blazers in the world, humans who were capable of summoning a physical manifestation of their souls called Device in the form of weapons, armors and tools, which served as a medium for them to use their powers.

Before their existence was officially acknowledged, they were called magicians and witches, the strongest of them being even capable of controlling the flow of time to their will. Even the weakest among them could be considered superhuman. Unfortunately, many of them were persecuted and killed, product of the fear of normal men that saw Blazers as pariahs, ignorant of the great deeds these people could have done for the world if they were accepted earlier. After all, magic is the means that humans have to reshape it to their image.

In modern times, The governments didn't want these kind of people using their abilities to cause havoc on society, so the "Mage-Knight" law was implemented. This law gave the Blazers the opportunity to enrol on police forces and armies when they were adults, so their talents could be used for the sake of others, effectively introducing them into some sort of "modern knighthood". However this led into another problem, which was the fight for dominance between the nations with the aid of their respective Blazers.

Over time, many organizations were formed just for the sake of controlling the flow of Mage-Knights in the world.

The League of Mage-Knight Nations, formed after the World War 2 by numerous and small countries like the UK, France, Japan, Italy, Poland, and the northern european kingdoms of Vermillion and Cradleland. They wish to stabilize the chaotic situation that is occurring due to powerful and influential people wanting to use Blazers as tools of mass destruction, wanting to give them protection and to ensure normal lives for them.

The Union, formed by super countries like U.S.A, Russia, China and Saudi Arabia, and have the support of the U.S.A special elite supernatural powers unit named Scion. Incredibly powerful and ambitious, the Union wants to expand it's influence across the world and to control every matter related to Blazers. Old rival countries have united into a nigh unbeatable alliance, posing a steady threat against the League and its project of "peace".

And between those 2, there is The Rebellion. They are a international crime syndicate that believe Blazers are the chosen new breed of humans, and refers to other non-Blazers as the inferior breed. They resort to use incredibly violent methods to achieve what they want and ironically, if not for them, the Union and the League would be fighting in a WW3.

But, outside of the rules of nations and men, outside of the bindings of fate itself, there exists a certain group of Blazers, stronger than any other. Beings who have trascended the weaknesess of the humans, and achieved a brute soul, discovering insurmountable amounts of magic potential within themselves. When everything is in shambles, they will surely fight against each other to decide the future of our world...

INFORMATION

Concept

The idea for this came from the anime/manga/light novel named "Chivalry of a Failed Knight". The roleplay will take place in its world, but it won't be chained to the great majority of Canon events, meaning that the players can run wild with their imagination as much as they please, to a certain extent of course. Everyone is welcome, regardless of tastes.
Players

All the players will play as Mage-Knights (Blazers), or normal humans if they want to stay on the sidelines. The race is locked, meaning that everyone will be human. They can play as part of the League, the Union or the Rebellion, or they can go as their own person without having to answer to any of the aforementioned organizations. Bear in mind that if you chose the last, you will have literally all the world against you, and the chances of your character being captured or worse are very high. The factionless players can form temporal alliances with other freelancers, but I won't allow it to go any further than that. If you want permanent comrades, choose the principal options.

The action takes place in a modified version of today's world, with certain tweaks here and there. The principal objective is to obliterate each other's faction, be it directly or indirectly, but the players can expand the world even more through their actions.

Depending on what you choose, access to certain countries or places will be a dangerous thing for your character.

Players can create as many characters as they want.
Golden Rule

Some time ago I read something on how, not matter what you do in a roleplay, even if you're the GM, the players will find the most bizarre and ridiculous ways to break your game. This is highly encouraged to do. Within the limits I will give the players, I want them to break the roleplay one time after another. Humans are supposed to evolve, learn from their errors, and that's what I want you to do. Evolve, grow stronger, and take the top. Personal glory and self-challenge against all odds are some of the main cores of this roleplay, but that doesn't mean that team play is bad. I only ask you to be dynamic, to "get out of the box"

But, the more obstacles you tackle, the more that will come your way later, and you won't be able to pass through all of them. One can wonder what would happen if you keep pushing regardless of everything...

Extra IC Information

Device

The Devices are the crystalization of a Blazer's soul in the material plane. In the past, these powerful objects were called by many names such as “Holy Sword”, “Demon Bow”, “Blessed Tool”, etc. They take many forms, such as swords or Spears, or more modern ones like firearms.

They may look like normal weapons, but Devices are incredibly sturdy, almost indestructible if someone uses conventional weapons, as they are essentially made of pure magic. They can withstand a great deal of damage without breaking or bending, but in the rare case they do break, this will directly affect its user. If a part of the Device is broken then it won’t have a great impact, but if its totally broken, the user will be rendered unconscious.

A Device can take either an Illusionary Form for practice or mock battles, or a Real Form for real battles. Device's in Illusionary Form can't cause any physical damage to people, instead they damage the target's stamina. This is why Illusionary Form is used during mock battles and when a Blazer isn't trying kill someone or just not being allowed to kill. Although Illusionary Form can't kill someone, an overwhelming attack can put someone into a comatose state.

Some Blazers are capable of summoning a lot of copies from the same device. The amount of copies depends on the person, as the great majority can summon only one.

It’s believed that some Devices are sentient to a certain extent, but that remains unknown.
Desperados

Every human being born has a destiny. Some people have greater roles than others, and this leads to those with great fates being stronger than those with lesser ones. But there is a certain group of Blazers who exist outside of this border. Only after reaching an "Awakening" (Brute Soul), are people capable of elevating their magic power and thus gain greater power than those with the great destinies. This small group that exists outside of the boundary of fate is called Desperados.

The exact way of reaching an "Awakening" is still somewhat unclear, but it is said that one must reach the end of their destiny, effectively the full reach of their abilities as a Blazer, to become a Desperado.

A Desperado has far greater magic power than the ordinary Blazer. As Desperados are beings that have broken through fate, they are capable of influencing fate, exerting an aura which can immobilize or influence others. Desperados can even kill weaker Blazers by their will alone. It's often thought, that because of their ability to manipulate fate itself, the only ones who can defeat Desperados are other Desperados.

The only way to defend against the aura exerted by Desperados is to have strong faith in your own unshakable abilities. This can at times be extremely difficult in heated combat, and very few normal Blazers are able to stand alone and hold their own against a Desperados.

Desperados are a highly concealed subject by the League and the Union, with only some select individuals in both organizations knowing about them.

Soul Evolution

Soul Evolution is a process where the "soul" of a Blazer experiences a great change, which shifts its ideals and beliefs. A drastic change like this also affects the Device of a Blazer, as a Device reflects the Blazer's inner spirit , personal values, aesthetics, personality and lifestyle. In order for the Device to change, all, or most of these things also need to change. A drastic change of the Device can even require the Blazer to abandon all what it is and become something different. A Device can for example become larger or multiply if a Soul Evolution takes place.

While rare, it’s possible for a person's Device to change or evolve. This is because a Device reflects the Blazers inner spirit and everything about them. Therefore, if the Blazer completely "rebuilds" itself, its Device will change as well.

However, one must take in account that a Soul Evolution isn’t always a good thing. The Device may be weakened if the change is detrimental to the Blazer's personality or beliefs.
The League of Mage-Knight Nations

The League of Mage-Knight Nations is an organization formed by numerous weaker countries with Blazers (UK, Japan, France, Poland, Italy, and the European kingdoms of Cradleland and Vermillion). The League was formed after World War 2. It has been opposing the Union, and if not for the existence of Rebellion, the Union and the League would fight against each other and start World War 3. The headquarters is located in the UK (Great Britain) and in it there is a room that only branch leaders and the Top 10 world rankers of the KOK tournament can enter.

The League also oversees the King Of Knights Tournament, which is organized by the League of Mage-Knight Nations between representatives from countries under its domain. The tournament is split in different leagues, with the A-League being the highest. The participants of the A-League are considered the strongest warriors of the League. Representatives are ranked based on their performance in the tournament.
The Union

The Union is an alliance of stronger countries with Blazers(U.S.A, Russia, Saudi Arabia and China). The Union has been at odds against the League of Mage-Knight Nations, and if not for the threat of Rebellion, the Union and the League would be fighting in a World War 3. Not much is known about the Union and its affairs, as they are very secluded when it comes to talk about their ranks.

The few known things about them is that their headquarters are located in the United States, and that their most powerful Blazers are reunited in a special team named Scion.
The Rebellion

Rebellion is the most infamous crime syndicate in the world, referring Blazers as "the chosen new breed of humans" and referred to all the others as "inferior breed". Rebellion's main goal is to destroy the society that thought Blazers should protect humans and to create their own paradise where the "chosen breed" (Blazers) will rule over the "inferior breed" (non-Blazers). Ironically, despite being an organization for Blazers, majority of its members are non-Blazers who are referred as "followers" while the Blazers who are referred as "apostles" are a minority. Their headquarters is located somewhere in the Alps.

Rebellion's leadership consists of the leader and its top executives who are referred as "Numbers". However, even though the Blazers generally command over the non-Blazers in the organization, a good amount of the Numbers are actually non-Blazers. Some of the Numbers are powerful Blazers while the others are country leaders, rich people, powerful businessmen and such.
Vermillion Empire

Vermillion Empire is a country in the corner of Europe, along the coast of the North Sea. Originally it was part of Kingdom of Cradleland, until becoming independent hundreds of years ago. Its main industries include animal husbandry, tourism, export of cut flowers and natural gas. Their capital is Flareverg.

The country's biggest feature is the loyalty of its people to the imperial family. This loyalty was founded back when the first Emperor of Vermillion led a war against the Kingdom of Cradleland. This emperor, originally a duke named Vermillion, couldn't stand the tyranny against the weak people, leading to the rebellion. Even until now the love between the people and the imperial family makes the whole country a huge family.

Vermillion Empire and Cradleland fight against each other in a war every five years for the ownership of a gas field between their borders. This war is a tournament with five representatives from both countries fighting each other. Despite these wars, Vermillion and Cradleland have a very good relationship.
Cradleland Kingdom

Cradleland is an old kingdom located in Northern Europe, sharing a border with Poland. Its capital is Lucier. Cradleland shares borders with Vermillion, which was originally part of Cradleland. During a rebellion, caused by tyranny against the citizens, Vermillion split from Cradleland forming its own country. The two countries had cold relationships ever since.

However, many years ago an old emperor of Vermillion marched alone into Cradleland and confronted the King. He said that if the King hated him so much their countries should just fight as much as they liked. The King of Cradleland couldn't hate someone so stupid, and so their countries relationship began to improve little by little.

Every 5 years Vermillion and Cradleland organize a tournament-style war for the ownership of a gas field between their borders. This tournament is not as hostile as it seems, as the loser gets financial support from the winner. For the past few tournaments, Cradleland has always come out on top.
iPS Capsules

While Blazers made a strong impact on the world with their powers, science didn’t fall too far behind. Over the years, a special technology named iPS Capsules were created, for medical purposes. This machine is capable of closing wounds, regain stamina, reattach limbs and even organs.

Due to casualties increasing at a rapid pace because of different armed conflicts in the world, this capsule gained fame even more easily that what was intended. Important establishments are filled with these machines, for any unwanted problem.

However, as much as a revolutionary creation this is, it has its flaws. It can’t regenerate lost limbs or organs, only reattach them. It can’t fix parts that were completely destroyed, too.

The RP

Character Sheet

Non-Blazer Character Sheet/ NPC Sheet

Factions

Rules

Be polite and mature, please. The last thing I want is to kick out people for fighting over nonsensical conflicts that can be resolved by talking.

This RP is casual/high-casual. Solid paragraphs, character deepth and detailed descriptions should be a thing, but do not feel overwhelmed. Also, I’m very laid-back, but I too can be a grammar Nazi from time to time (which is hypocritical of my part), so try to make your posts as legible as possible.

ASK. If you don’t understand something, you’re encouraged to ask. What is more, you’re almost obliged to ask. I prefer answering 100 questions rather than rejecting a character because something wasn’t understood.

This is pretty obvious, but no Godmoding, no Power Gaming, no Meta Gaming. There’s a difference between overpowered characters and omnipotent characters, people.

Permanent death is possible, if not very unlikely. All Blazers are tough bastards, and some are able to use abilities non-related to healing to…heal themselves. That, and the iPS capsules mentioned in the extra information are a thing, so be prepared. Your character can also be captured.

This is 18+ because of violence. Smut is prohibited, but fades to black are allowed.

You’re supposed to be a Mage-Knight. If you lose a battle, your honor demands that you accept it. Why I’m trying to say is, don’t go crazy because you rightfully lost an encounter. Be proud you had it in the first place. The fight itself is better than losing or winning.

If you want your character to become a Desperado , then just keep pushing. To reach an Awakening you must push your character to the limits… a lot. Make it bleed, break its bones, destroy its organs. If I see a character as deem to become one, I will start a PM with you and we’ll talk about it. You can make characters that are Desperados from the start, but you'll have to send me your CS through PM, and you can only do it 1 time in the RP

If someone is a Desperado, or becomes one, its name in the character sheet must be displayed in this color (crimson).

A Soul Evolution doesn’t need my approval to happen, but don’t abuse it. If it happens too often just for the hell of it, we’ll have problems.

When a Soul Evolution occurs, one must add an image of the new appearance of the device in the character sheet along with the original one.

Even if you’re in a supporting role, you still have to be present in the IC regularly.

Do not disappear without a reason. Role play isn’t more important than real life, but that doesn’t mean that you can leave fellow players hanging just because you can’t or don’t want to write. Posts should be within a week or less, thought I can allow more time if it comes to it. 2 weeks is the maximum amount of time I will wait without an explanation. If you don’t meet the post quota, you will be pushed aside, and if you keep going under the radar even longer, I will take out your character/s.

Try to post an IC of 1 solid paragraph/2 paragraphs for each character as minimum.

Do not spam-post. Wait for others to do their thing, and then post again.

Post your CS in the OOC so I can see it. If it is good, I will tell you to move it to the character section.

If you want a position of power like a branch leader of the League, a Number of rebellion, a member of Scion and the like, send your CS through PM. I will give you some specifics, and I will see if the character is fitting for the role.

Have fun. That’s why you’re here in the first place, right?
