Hello there. I am considering porting over and remaking an old roleplay of mine from another website. I've managed to work my way through the formatting code differences, but now I'm curious as to whether or not my rp's old 'look' would work or be out of place on roleplayerguild.

The site that this rp was built on, it was common practice for roleplays to have a 'frontpage'. This would mean that the first page of the thread would be taken up with different sections of the roleplay's setup. Such as a spot for the introduction, a spot for the setting, a spot for rules, a spot for other random things. And then "reserve" posts would be saved up for the remainder until the front page was filled. Which was 15 posts in total. Most of these reserves for the sake of neatness.

I have noticed that here, all the information seems to be being put all into the first post of the OOC section.

I feel as though if I were to do that with the rp i've got, it would end up looking far too long for just one post, and possibly look messy and jumbled.

Would it be considered excessive or weird if I were to use the way of formatting I'm used to? With the separation of pieces on the frontpage of the OOC?

Many people might find it odd, but we suppose it could work.

One tool that tends to help "unclutter" things is to use hiders. Or even to put some lore stuff elsewhere, with links.

Our Star Wars RP has a significant number of lore documents offsite.

You actually have two posts to work with; the 0th Post and your 1st OOC post.

Use hiders.

The only real disadvantage is on your end in terms of editing later on. For that I would use a slightly complicated system involving a backup copy, but those logistics are up to you unless you're curious how I would do it.

Thanks for the suggestions all.

I tried them with the setup for the rp I had and it just ended up not translating very well. Just page setup was too different in how it was built heh.

Fortunately I was able to use the Horizontal Lines to help organize some things and move stuff around to make it into 3 larger, but manageable posts that I can put onto a thing.

So it will still end up looking a bit odd for RPGuild, but it will not be as weird. A compromise when bringing something over from one very different format to here.

I'll put something up in the Interest thread somewhat soon. I'll probably not want to actually run anything as of yet with just how life has gone lately. I'm halfway expecting one of my walls to explode out of nowhere xD. But I'm wondering if people would be interested when i have more time.

@DoomFlavored Yeah coding here can be a bit different if you are used to other forums. Some ways it is a lot better, some ways it is very limiting. Things I have done in the past outside of hiders, mind you this was on different forums, was 1 I made an entire website dedicated to the RPs OOC. God that made it easy. Paged it out, put in what I needed, linked it in the original OOC post. Another was, keep the information on a private forum for my Rpers in the RP. Information was able to be read by anyone just couldn't post.

I understand both have major draw backs but they have been helpful in the past (and ones I am intending to use again soon.)
