Rules:

1.) No back-to-back posting.

2.) PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND SET-UPS!!

3.) Make sense. If we can't make heads or tails of your posts they're likely to get skipped over.

4.) Get permission before using another player's character in your posts if it involves changing the scene or making actions. Everybody will take beatings in this game in battle however, so don't get pissed if you get punched or blasted into a wall by the bad guys! Namely me or the Co-GMs controlling the badguys...

5.) Problems with the game or players should be sent directly to me or the Co-GM through PM's. I don't want a bunch of bickering in the OOC. And I don't particularly like it when some random argument costs the game players and story potential. So don't be dicks to each other, just send your concerns to us.

6.) Abandoned characters will be used as NPC's or killed off within the context of the story.

7.) “I was waiting for [insert player/character] to make a move” is not how this game is played.

8.) There is no rule #8. (I actually took this non-rule from an old Lord Wraith RP LOL)

9.) My word is law.

10.) Obey the law.

11.) In the event that I'm offline for any period of time, the Co-GM [need a new one already!] will take control and HIS/HER word will then be law.

Metropolis...

It was a somewhat quiet Wednesday afternoon. The sun was shining and the residents were making as much noise as a city rivaling that of NYC should. Skyscrapers throughout midtown lead to one of the larger structures in the city, Metro Tower. Even in a world without a Superman the city was safe in the hands of the rechristened Justice League Unlimited. Wonder Woman and Robotman lead the charge with several heroes living in the Tower as full time heroes. Heroes like the enigmatic Evermore, Dakota’s own Static, as well as other new faces like the armored STRIPE, Agent Liberty, and the comical Ambush Bug were seen throughout the halls of the Tower. Wonder Woman was absent, away on a voyage to Themyscira for the next several days. So when a code yellow alert came over the screens in the Monitor Room it was up to Cliff Steele aka Robotman to gather a few heroes to deal with the threat. Several windows popped up showing reports of ‘snake people’ being seen in the woods outside of Midway City, Michigan. This happened to be Robotman’s old stomping grounds, and it was likely another splinter group of the Cult of Kobra.

“Buncha scaly bastards probably tried making their own Lazarus Pit again and pickled half their brains…” Cliff thought before turning on the intercom in the Tower. “CODE YELLOW IN MIDWAY CITY! NEED ABOUT FIVE VOLUNTEERS TO GET MY BACK! NEW RECRUITS DON’T BE SHY. C’MON GUYS AND GALS… NEWS REPORTS ARE SAYING IT’S ‘SNAKE PEOPLE’ HA HAA HAAH!” he said with a laugh. “REPEAT! CODE YELLOW IN MIDWAY…”

Minutes later a group had gathered in the teleporting station of the Tower ready for action. It was barely after 2 pm, and Robotman was certain at least one of them had just woken up.

Gotham...

Derek was just getting out of one of his classes at the East Gotham Technical Institute when his cell phone went off. He looked around for a few minutes and ducked off into an area where there was nobody around. He was already walking outside in between buildings so it was no big deal to walk around a corner and towards the far end of one of the parking lots. The young hero pulled out his phone and surely enough his friend and cosplay enthusiast, Ernestine, was messaging him about current events. After it became known that she designed the attire for the upstart hero, several fledgling superheroes and cosplayers began commissioning her to design costumes and gear for them as well.

01:05 pm - Ernie: OMG
01:05 pm - Ernie: A friend of Robotman’s wants me to redesign her look.
01:06 pm – Ever hear of Elasti-Girl?

Derek backed out of the messages since it had already been an hour since she messaged him and he began to Google Elasti-Girl. Before he could even finish typing the hero’s name another two messages popped up from Ernestine.

02:12 pm – Ernie: Check your news feed!
02:12 pm – Ernie: Trouble in LA

Derek backed out of the messenger program and went into another app on his phone labeled with a stylish T. He typed a message into what appeared as a more direct group message.

02:12 pm – SW: Trouble in LA
02:12 pm – SW: What time is it there?

He stared at his phone for a few more moments before looking around and rifting to a more discreet location. He started to put on his blue and white suit on a nearby rooftop and his phone went off again. And again. And after a few more moments it went off one more time. Derek pulled his mask on and looked at his phone he’d placed on the ground beside of his backpack.

02:15 pm – SB: It’s 11:15. I’m free, pick me up.
02:15 pm – Ernie: Don’t you have like a team now?
02:16 pm – HB: I’m game.

Sideways opened a new rift and popped up a few feet away from his teammate Silver Bolt just as she went into electricity mode. He grabbed her hand and led her into the rift. A rift opened up someplace else, this time directly in front of the helmet wearing Human Bomb. Derek’s phone went off again in his pocket. It was probably Ernie again. A rift opened in LA just outside of the Heretic Club and another corner store. Some guy in a power suit caused a blackout in the area and is feeding off the city’s electricity.

“The suit is FINALLY mine! I’ll show those idiots at STAR Labs REAL power!” he screamed.

“Let’s go Titans!” Sideways said leaping forward as the Human Bomb went into a sprint while Silver Bolt took to the air.

beep beep beep beep

A jolt of electricity shot from Virgil's hand, turning off the annoyingly loud alarm as he pushed himself up from his face-down sleeping position and rolled over onto his back. He rubbed his eyes before staring up at the ceiling and letting out a tired sigh. A Tuesday night was very obviously not the time to marathon 'The Lord of the Rings' and Virgil knew that before he slipped that first DVD into his laptop. It didn't stop him though, obviously, and he didn't regret it at all.

Well, maybe a little.

He rolled out of bed, waving his hand over a small speaker system as he moved to the bathroom. He had to poke his head out of the bathroom before he could properly get ready for the day, the song that had came over the speaker system was a little too...punk for how he was feeling at the moment. No, today was a 90s rap kind of day, something a bit more funky than Black Flag. After a few zaps towards the speaker system he was finally satisfied, returning to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day.

An hour later and Virgil was almost at his destination. He would have been a lot quicker had he invested in a car, but road rage often made him sap the battery out through the steering wheel and knowing the drivers of Metropolis, he'd be left battery-less every other day. A bike suited Virgil for the time being, he had quite a good control over his powers at this point, but he always felt there was more to learn, more limits to push, and more power to be gained through them. But that would have to wait until later, for now he was visiting his old mentor, Curtis Metcalf also known as 'Hardware' to the more hardcore superhero groupies who had seen him in action in his youth.

Virgil left his bike at the door and walked in, following the noises of welding and crafting down to Curtis' workshop in the basement. As he descended the stairs he could see the tech-wizard hard at work, barely even glancing at Virgil as he rushed around the room, grabbing bits and pieces here and there and then carefully soldering them together on a large workbench near the back of the room.
"Hello to you too, Curt, it's impolite not to greet your guests you know." Virgil grinned, if there was one thing he liked to do it was annoy Curtis. He'd known the guy for years now, and in all those years he can only recall 1, maybe 2 times that Curtis had cracked a smile at a joke? The guy was stoic for sure, but the two got on rather well, despite their differences.
"That's Professor Metcalf to you kid, don't know how many times I gotta tell ya' before it catches on." Replied Curtis, turning 180 degrees with a blowtorch to face a table, almost singing off Virgil's eyebrows in the process.
"Ok then 'Professor Metcalf'" Mocked Virgil, purposely putting on a stupid voice as he repeated the title. "What are you building? You seem pretty focused for someone who wanted to retire early."
"Yeah, yeah, retire from the hero business, not retire from inventin', plus you should be grateful. If i'd retired from that you wouldn't have any of that fancy gear you're rockin'. Let alone this." He picked up what looked like a set of very small metal pipes, small enough to fit into your pocket with ease. Virgil looked at it in confusion.
"Wow, Curt, I know we all go through creative slumps, but this is something else." Virgil taunted, only to receive a slap across the back of the head that left him rubbing the sore spot.
"Don't be dense, kid, it's a staff. If you connect the parts usin' yer' power you'd see that." Virgil did as he was told, and to his surprise he was now holding a rigid metal staff.
"Why do I ever doubt you Curt?" His response was a low grumble from Curtis.

A few hours later

Virgil sat on a stool in the communal kitchen of Metro Tower, picking at a bowl of crisps while slowly strolling through twitter. It was the usual stuff, celebrity drama and things Virgil didn't really care about. Procrastination at it's finest.

He was startled a little by the intercom announcement, taking out an earphone as Robotman's laugh loudly echoed through the tower. He sighed, in many ways fighting snake-people was more interesting than mindlessly scrolling through social media, but in many ways he still had half a bowl of crisps to eat.

10 minutes or so later and Virgil was suited up and heading to the teleporting station, swinging his goggles around his finger as he entered the room. For once he was the first person there, he gave a small wave to Robotman as he put the goggles on over his forehead.

"S'happenin' Cliff, going all the way to Midway City to play Snakes and Ladders?"

A grown man’s hand grabbed Knight by the shoulder and shook it.
It took her a moment to escape the dizziness. Had she been dreaming? No. Knocked out maybe?
In the blink of an eye every survival instinct in her core went off. Reason and understanding took a backseat to the more pressing concern of staying alive. With limited motor skills Knight defended herself by averting the opponent’s grab and shielding herself, until she could get a grasp of the situation.
“Easy – easy!” dr. Willis called out with his soothing, yet firm voice, while his office yet again manifested itself before Knight’s eyes. “Everything is alright.”
“What happened?” she asked, bathed in sweat.
“You agreed to be hypnotized, remember?”
“I…” Still in a state of utter confusion, she rubbed her eyes. “Of course. How, ehm, how’d it go?”
“I’ll tell you in a second, but first, could I get my arm back?”
Only now did Knight see the awkward angle for which she had twisted it. “Yeah, I suppose you’ve grown attached to it, right?” She joked in the hopes that it would distract him. Then, while suppressing a new sweat-wave, she followed his calm walk back to the desk.
Only when her son was present did she feel good wearing a plain shirt, not like now where it mostly felt like a costume for which to fool the world. Knight pretended there was a grain of dust on her leg and sat up in the long chair to brush it off her on-sale-jeans.
“Now, in your dosed state, you did mention something about a fiery sky,” dr. Willis finally explained, “however, what really seem to set you off was talk of your father.”
Instantly ever muscle in Knight’s body tightened. Her throat became dry, her heart pounded like a mad gorilla. “… My father?”
This was a mistake. This was a mistake! something screeched inside her.
“Yes. It seemed like a message, a rejection of sorts.”
“What did I say?”
“You said…” Willis raised his notepad.Father, don’t … please, don’t. Go back. The World is bare. Unprepared. The world isn’t ready for something like you. Please, don’t…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Knight’s little incidence at the shrink had been more than enough reason to storm out of there and spend some quality time pondering at Metro Tower. Secretly hoping for something, anything, to distract her from seeing her father’s face when she closed her eyes. She got her wish granted in the form of a code yellow. Already in full armor, and yet she hesitated. For a while actually. Knight sighed, and rid herself of the nightmarish visions she kept from the rest of the League. Cleaned her soul of the evil that had once tainted it.
Does anyone know? … No. No, of course not.
She then headed straight for the teleporting station. Entered the conversation between Virgil and Robotman with a “Snakes in the garden of Eden, huh?”

"Conversions are extremely important in the chem world. How much base is necessary to neutralize an Acid? How much solid compound do you need in an aqueous solution? What is the cheapest amount of product necessary to create your main goal?" Came from the monotonous voice of Professor Keagle. He paced back in forth in his dingy white lab coat sprinkled with all kinds of bright chemicals. If he had a superpower, it would be inducing sleep... that's what Kali decided anyway.

While in her every day form, Kali had a little less energy to expend than your normal student and that voice was not helping... Just as she was about to doze off, a loud grumbling noise left his lips. "Ma'am if i'm boring you feel free to exit my classroom and pass the tests on your own merits." His gray freckled brows furrowed and his normally wild hair seemed to especially stand on end. Kali sprung back into her chair with her glasses now crooked and her face feeling hot with embarassment. Man, she wasn't even sitting in the front of class. "Sorry.", she whispered as she fixed her glasses. She could hear low chuckling. Typical day in the life. Teachers don't seem to care about the day to day their students have to deal with on the regular...and even more than that, a superhero-crime-fighting student.

At the end of class, she hurried out back towards the dorms. As if praying for something to help get her mind off of how terrible that call out was, her phone went showed an app notification on the T symbol.

11:12 am – SW: Trouble in LA
11:12 am – SW: What time is it there?
11:15 am – SB: It’s 11:15. I’m free, pick me up.

Praise the lord. I mean...maybe she shouldn't have been thinking that way, but this afternoon had to be better than her morning. Just as she took the back exit hallway from the dorm room, Kali threw her hand up to juice up. She could feel so much energy returning to her. It was like doubleshots of espresso hitting directly into your bloodstream every 5 seconds. Her eyes first began to change into the silver as she took more energy in. Still paranoid, (especially with her rifting teammate), she threw the crop top and jeans off to the side, and delicately placed her glasses on top of them with her free hand. As she gathered more energy, her torso and legs transformed into black with silver streaks. The lights went completely black in this area, and as she exited the building, she took a final 'sip' out of the side outlet. As her hair began to change, Sideways appeared with an outstretched hand.

"'Sup.", she said with an awkward smile as a spark of lightning crackled near her hand. She bit her lip to help calm down a bit, and grabbed his hand as they both rifted close to the scene. As the rest of the teammates assembled, Silver Bolt took to a powerline to have a more aerial view of the situation.

"Feeding off electricity? That seems like a familiar ability...", She chuckled as she traveled through the line. She came to a halt on top of the pole as she regained her corporeal form.

"I can fix the blackout problem if ya'll keep him preoccupied, or I can see how much juice this bad boy can handle." She glanced over at her teammates for some added support. She had no doubt that they'd finish this loser off quick.

Metropolis

The weather seemed pretty nice Jack as he swung through the city using his elastic arms to grab one surface after another. Being in a city made traveling very easy thanks to the tall buildings, which gave him ledges, poles and other features on the structures. It may not be as fast as flying, but it was still super fun. He felt like Tarzan swinging through the trees and he looked below him to watch the people on ground stare up at him and point in awe.

He was on his way to the headquarters of the Justice League where he would be a member of for the first time ever. The Justice League were the best of the best when it came to heroism. Once he got there he said hello to all of the members and was getting social with the other leaguers.

Then the alarms went off and he heard the call for help fighting off some snake people in Midway city. Finally some action to do with the league. When the newbies were called, he raised his hand in excitement

"I'm in! Let's go kick some scales!" he shouted excitedly.

"Also How are we getting their?" he asked

Phantom

Karoline had been on sleeping mode before the call had went off, courtesy of Robotman. As things were, criminals liked to usually act when the sun was down and she could do more at night than day. One would be surprised how much troubles could be solved if the police had an early warning to some crime happening in any particular spot.

As such, like a Phantom of the City - criminals, drug-users and other unscrupulous elements of Metropolis found themselves stakes out and caught way before anyone had made even a call. Since as many people liked to forget, in this time and age, everything was connected. She merely had to find the right camera, ATM or even car-alarm. In the rare cases, she deployed onto the field when the situation was above cop-grade criminals.

But, in this current situation, she most certainly, didn't want her beauty sleep interrupted by their resident tinman. Although a quick check-up indicated otherwise, not to mention that her sleep was ruined now too. Thus soon enough, she had her get-up on and also iron mask as well.

Where some people liked to wear spandex, goggles or cowls to hide their identities. Kary went a bit more simple, a line of metal between her and anyone stupid enough to try and punch her in the face. Thus she was soon enough, also at the teleporters and looking not happy at all.

"One day, I am seriously going to pull the wires out of that intercom if you keep using it, like some Football Announcer from Fox News. Some of us, are sleeping. Or were sleeping!"

Metropolis…

"S'happenin' Cliff, going all the way to Midway City to play Snakes and Ladders?" Static asked, first to the teleporting station.

“Snakes in the garden of Eden, huh?” Knight asked also, coming in shortly after.

“Now you’ve both got me thinking ‘bout that Snakes on a Plane movie with Sam Jackson. What we’re likely dealing with is the Cult of Kob…” Robotman began to answer before Polymer swung into the room with his elastic arms.

"I'm in! Let's go kick some scales!" he shouted excitedly, "Also… how are we getting there?" the young hero asked.

"One day, I am seriously going to pull the wires out of that intercom if you keep using it, like some Football Announcer from Fox News. Some of us… are sleeping… or WERE sleeping!" Phantom replied coming in last.

“Code Yellow and the best time was ten minutes?! I don’t have time to explain the teleporter station, for now just stand on the circular discs on the platform. It’s like something out of Star Trek, might make you dizzy.” Robotman exclaimed.

The small group stepped onto the platform and Robotman was the last to do so. Punching the location in at the terminal, the man of steel and bolts cranked and clanked onto the platform and snorted from his mechanical nose.

Midway City…

When the group teleported to Midway they landed in the old HQ of Robotman, back when he was a solo hero. Before he helped to form the League. It was a bit dusty, as he’d made his home Metro Tower in recent years. It was a large underground bunker beneath a small house on the outskirts of Midway by some forests. There were mementos from past adventures, Muscle Car magazines, and a box of cigars all around the place. And the teleporting circle thingie that popped each Leaguer out on top of one another. Static, then Knight, followed by Polymer, Phantom, and then the three hundred or so pounds of metal man that was Cliff Steele. The group grunted as he sorta fell off of them onto his feet, with a metal smirk.

“The ladder to get out of the bunker is in the next little room. The reports mentioned the ‘snake people’ were just about half a mile east of here…” Robotman explained as the group still grunted and griped getting off each other.

TITANS

Los Angeles…

"I can fix the blackout problem if ya'll keep him preoccupied, or I can see how much juice this bad boy can handle." Silver Bolt glanced over at her teammates for some added support.

“Let me open a rift and we’ll take this guy out in the middle of a desert or something away from the city. Less innocent people to worry about! Then you can light him up!” Sideways exclaimed leaping forward not noticing Bolt biting her lip again.

“What’s THIS? The junior Justice League?” the armored nutjob asked in amusement blasting electricity at the heroes.

With a nod Sideways grabbed the helmeted Human Bomb and threw him at the villain. The metahuman hero exploded and knocked the man in the metal suit back and into an already wrecked car thankfully without passengers in it. Sideways threw a rift under the bulky adversary and it dropped him smack in the middle of a desert in God knows where. The heroes fell through the rift afterwards, with ‘Bomb still reassembling his atoms and forming his body en route. Sideways hit the app on his phone to send out the team’s current location to the others. Silver Bolt began lightning up the enemy with her own electrical powers to hopefully overcharge his suit. However, it was able to absorb every bit of the energy thrown at him. Including the kinetic energy and heat off the explosion Human Bomb created. The suit now had enhanced electromagnetism, strength, and a personal electro-magnetic force field. Whip like tendrils grew from metal behemoth’s gauntlets and he managed to grab Sideways and Human Bomb. HB likely would’ve blown up but he didn’t want to injure his teammate. The two began getting electrocuted before a blur pulled both of them out of the guy’s tendril range.

The red and white blur slowed down just enough to be recognized as Impulse.

Midway City…

“Excellent. I love fighting when I’m sore,” Knight joked, lying on her back like a baby. Then proceeded by jumping back on her feet in a combination of balance and nimbleness. Even in armor she usually found her footing without much effort.
Wasting no time, she jumped into the next room, got on the ladder and scaled it as quickly as she could.
The air in Midway City felt a little light. A sudden smell of hotdogs came with the taste of fear being carried through the wind. Even with no visible damage or danger both things were still clear as day with all the people fleeing.
Knight took a look at her teammates, jumping up from the ladder. In her head she almost weighed and measured them to the treat they were about to face. Yeah, she defiantly felt prepared for this.
How is it that so many snakes try to swallow prey, clearly larger than them, she wondered, before taking the first steps towards the center of attention.

Polymer

Midway City

Polymer chuckled when he saw Phantom go on an angry rant to Robotman for his shouting into the intercom. Their leader explained that they would be using a teleportation station to get to Midway City. He had never used one before and he was very curious to see what it was like to be teleported to a different city. He hurried over to the teleportation pad and joined his teammates. When the machine activated, Jack felt a big sensation run through his body and next thing he found himself falling on top of another member of the team.

He then felt another teammate fall on top of him and do to his rubbery body Jack was flattened between the bodies and felt like rubbery cheese on a cheeseburger. He squeezed himself out of the pile like an elastic snake and stood in front of them with grin as he watched them get up from the jumble of bodies.

"Not what I would call a dramatic entrance" he joked. He listened to Robotman explain that the ladder to outside of the bunker was in the next room and Jack quickly hurried into the room to find the ladder. He quickly stretched both of his arms to the top of the ladder and then used his elasticity to propel himself at great speed up the ladder and out into the fresh night air. He landed next to Knight and looked in the direction that Robotman said where the Snake People would be.

"I'm totally ready for this. I use constriction a lot to stop bad guys so I'm ready to battle with snakes" he said as his eyes spotted some of the creatures in the distance.

Phantom

Phantom groaned, when she half-way landed on top of everyone. The Justice League really needed to upgrade their software, or otherwise - they might not land upside down, they might accidentally 'land' inside each other or worse. Although, that wasn't as bad as when she expected that to be the worse thing.

As since she was the top one, Kary ended up being the one to 'receive' Robotman - when she suddenly felt the man land ontop of her. "AEHH! Off you big ox!" she groaned, getting off and cracking her back. Making sure that nothing was broken. "I'd hit you for that, but you've done enough damage already."

Once her words had been spoken, Phantom calmed down herself - and refrained from punching the man of metal. Since that would do nothing good, beyond damage herself even more. As she soon enough, rolled up her sleeve and activated her wrist-PDA. Already starting to get some contact with the local area network. The woman soon followed after Knight and Polymer up the ladder, without even looking - simply kicked up, then pulled herself up one bar and landed outside.

"Sure. Fun enough of running into the den of literal snakes, whom are likely waiting in ambush. Then people wonder, how a King Cobra can kill an elephant. Cause they don't watch, where they are going," she replied at Polymer. Before she soon managed to piggy-back into a weather satellite and get some covering over the area of their targets. "Alright. Now, we got something useful. Like overview of what we are going to be facing."

The Strings of Fate

Part I

There was solace; breaths cut gelid and close. Nabu in his ear: guiding him, directing him. The room around him was quiet, he sat in its black; arms folded, he was levitating atop an ankh inscription. He was reaching, searching for the beacon that was the JL tower and more importantly, the souls within. They all appeared as wisps; then in one flash of even dimmer energy, he could see them disappear. There was another disturbance that the group was rushing to, but he could not make out what.

Saban was yet no master of the helm, and in moments such as these--where he knew combat was imminent--he let Nabu nudge him in the right direction. Fate opened his mind to Nabu’s hidden knowledge; he looked for the right spell, blue glyphs flashed before his mind and scrolled along. He found the right set; the ankh found harmony with the picture in his mind’s eye and its golden energies shone bright,

”Fini alahi theuma!” and then those energies encircled him. Where he found himself next was transversing a plane of red, beside him people and places and time all moved compressed, like one congruous and large mirror--each compressed together and linear, but disjointed all the same. He heard words, voices, cries of joy, cries for help, birth, death. And then, mere seconds later, he was there at the tower.

He appeared in a flurry of golden light, his body levitating while vertical, arms at his side. From beneath the helm he saw a ladder and some stragglers from the group who had mostly gone out. To them, he offered his first words as Dr. Fate,

”Forgive the delay. I am Dr. Fate, and today, fate is at your side.”

Impulse & Silver Bolt

Jumping down from the pole, Silver bolt landed gracefully using electricity to cushion her fall. She nodded in approval at Sideways’ instructions and felt her face grow hot as he leaped forward. Unwittingly, Silver bolt bit her lip and felt her electric field crackle a little more often around her.

With an unspoken plan in motion, Sideways threw Human Bomb directly at the armored foe and with a loud explosion, the kinetic energy sent him crashing into a street car.

“Whoah…!”, Silver Bolt exclaimed before finding herself falling through a rift. Surveying her surroundings, she could feel the scorching sun to her back, and the hot, soft sand at her feet. From what it looked like, they had to be somewhere like the sahara. She half-smiled at the fact that there were no civilians to worry about. Go time.

“Stand back boys, time to light ‘em up!” Silver bolt blasted the enemy with about 60 kA of voltage. After a couple seconds she felt herself getting somewhat weaker and noticed her attack hadn’t even left the guy phased. In fact, he was laughing maniacally as she stopped. Her eyes faded from silver back to brown as her hands dropped to her side. Tendrils, and an eerily similar electric field manifested from her enemy, as the dude was now sporting the electricity she had accidentally provided.

“Oh no.”, she whispered as the psychopath grabbed her two teammates electrocuting them. They let out short agonising screams just before a blur of red and yellow came in a whirlwind of dust.

”Couldn’t have picked somewhere cooler Sideways? This suit doesn't breathe too well.” Impulse dropped his teammates off near Silver Bolt with a grin. Having done nearly nothing all day, he jumped at the opportunity to get to kick some tail. Impulse turned to Silver Bolt with a grin as his mind raced to come up with a plan.

”Wanna help me give sparky the old one two?” Impulse asked getting ready to sprint.

Silver Bolt had barely just registered the fact that Impulsive arrived on the scene let alone saved her teammates. She beamed at him. “I’m down, but for a guy with superspeed -- way to be late!”. They did their typical-special-super-fast handshake quickly (electric & speedforce created sounds erupting) as he chuckled.

In an instant Impulse spun Silver Bolt and let her loose, proceeding to dash and make his own attack which consisted of a quick jab to the back of the human dynamo’s knee. At the same time, Silver bolt’s own de-powered punch hit him square in the head. The armored guy fell backwards hard as Silver Bolt got to her feet to put some distance between them.

Midway City…
Hardly had Knight taken her first step before a new figure appeared right behind her. She turned and breathed a sigh of relief. Both that it was not an enemy that had surprised her. And that she hadn’t greeted Dr. Fate with a knee to the helmet.
”Forgive the delay. I am Dr. Fate, and today, fate is at your side.” he said, his voice almost echoing in the streets, though such would seem to violate the laws of nature.
Knight clicked her tongue in response. “Eh… cool,” she answered and hoped it didn’t come off as disrespectful. She had once again caught herself wondering, if she should complete her Knight persona by adding a helmet.

Seriousness came when approaching the Cult of Cobra. The chaos, that had surely ensued when the cult arrived, had resulted in a traffic jam going on for about to blocks each way. Aside from a few civilians hugging the steering wheel, the streets seemed rather empty. Only the distant yells of fear reminded the Justice League that people hadn't disappeared, merely run away.
As Phantom had already been able to pinpoint the Kobras hiding on the rooftops, Knight and the others could advance, knowing full well how the ambush would happen.
“Lock the doors. Stay in there,” she mumbled while passing an elderly woman shaking her in vehicle. Knight turned her head to Robotman. “We’re on the same page, right? Keep the attention on us and away from the people in the cars.”
In the absolute center, where all the roads crossed, stood who could only be the current commander of this assault: A 7ft tall, scaly monster. Neither man nor snake. His dark red scales shone in the sunlight as if slightly greasy. When speaking a raspy s-sound followed. “Welcome Justice League to your deathssss!”
Knight blinked and turned to the others. “Well, who didn’t see that line coming?” she mumbled.
“My name iss Aliff and-“
“If that's your name, you should consider buying a vowel,” she interrupted and saw his narrow pupils twitch.
In a fit of animalistic rage, he dissed the robe, he had been wearing and revealed his bare chest and well-built arms. Like pythons they were. Instead of a command he used his strong neck to snap in the general direction of the heroes while doing a long hissing sound. Somehow that qualified as an attack order.
Only the mouths and hands were visible on his men, but that alone made them look not entirely human. The rest of their bodies were covered in skintight material, displaying various Egyptian symbols and snake drawings. When climbing down the building with unnatural speed, it was clear they outnumbered the League and wouldn’t exactly be pushovers. Their roars were loud and their claws visibly poisonous.
Alright, let’s do this the hard way, I guess.
Knight jumped on top of an abandoned station wagon and hit her wrists together, creating a firework of sparks.

And then the fight was on…

Phantom

"Ugh. Crazy people," replied Kary, seeing some of the beasts focus on her. "Alright. If I have to get my hands dirty, then so be it. You guys sadly aren't on the endangered list of animals. So, except a good ass-kicking to commence."

Compared to her team-mates who might hold back or simply charge into the fray - Phantom started doing something else. Namely, she simply soon activated something on her PDA and soon enough the fight had some music going on it. Although, despite this - it acted both as a confusion and a measuring stick for Kary. Namely, which beat to keep.

As she appeared to start becoming almost hyperactive, jumping from one foot to the other, constantly. Then beckoning the snake-guys to attack her, which they didn't waste time doing. Even outnumbered, Karoline had the perfect style of fighting - not to mention, amplified by her already other martial art and her body' natural talents.

Thus, when the Snake Cultists tried to attack her, they would miss. Then again and again and again, even with two of them trying to hit her - they failed. Both because she was twice as fast as an ordinary human and able to react faster than that. But the type of fighting style she used, was built around evasion and dodging - even when dealing with multiple opponents. Although, it didn't mean she didn't hit back.

When Phantom counter-attacked it was meant to do damage, hurt and struck without warning - before Kary returned to her evasive stance, being as unhittable as the wind. This kind of tactic, was her way of doing things. Evade and counter-attack, thus even outnumbered - she was able to outmatch the Cultists. But not having much time to focus, how her other teammates were doing.

Polymer

Midway City

Polymer chuckled at Phantom's remark about them going directly into the snakes' den, but he wasn't going to rush in first.

"I'm sure we all have a plan for engaging in combat with the snake people" he replied with a smile. Then Dr. Fate made his flashy appearance before them and that caught Jim off guard. He gave them an introduction and then made a somewhat corny catchphrase about fate being on their side.

"Nice to meet you Fate. You can call me Polymer and I have no catchphrase" he responded to the magical being. He then saw Knight and Phantom go into action and start engaging the snake people in combat. Polymer stretched a bit to get loose and then slithered down the building almost snake like at a quick pace.

He saw one snake thug attempting to attack a family caught up in the chaos and he quickly shot out his arm with a clenched fist. He landed a strong punch on the creature's face and made it stagger back from the blow. Jim quickly made his punching arm ensnare around the monster's neck and Jim slammed its face into the concrete knocking it out almost immediately.

Jim then used both of his arms to wrap them around the necks of other snake men and then slammed both of their heads into one another.

"Two heads are better than one" he said with a chuckle and moved on to engage more snake people. It looked like it was going to be a wild fight.

Midway City…
Madness had once again returned to the streets as snake-people attacked left and right.
Having her feet solidly planted in a station wagon Knight greeted the first cult member with an elbow to the sternum that send him backwards into the hood. “Here’s a tip, don’t let your opponent dictate the fight, it’s gonna – Oh, shit he's not out!” she exclaimed just in time to dodge his jump back up. Knight kept her footwork going and grabbed the incoming claw.
His other claw immediately struck the armor on her right arm. Not a single scratch was visible, only a long green trail of venom.
“Don’t let them cut you!” Knight yelled to her team, while folding and ultimately breaking her opponent’s arm through a series of moves. Before she could put down the snake-man for good, another launched at her. With a back-flip she got herself down from the vehicle and brought the reinforced part of her arm to their ankles.
The success of her escape was brief, as another cult member grabbed her and began a wrestling contest. With something slightly above human strength, he pulled her backwards and revealed the only two teeth he had in his mouth. Clearly the work of a dentist and not nature itself, yet the fangs did seem smeared in the same kind of poisonous green stuff. In a haunting hiss his head came forward and then drew back again like a whip, when the bite missed. Then came another attempt, before Knight separated one hand from the struggle, broke off the side view mirror and stuffed it into his incoming mouth. The creature paused before she broke the mirror by slamming an uppercut into his jaw, spreading glass everywhere.
Knight took a second to catch her breath and admire Polymer’s handiwork on the cult. Mystical constructs of magic also did a real number on a few of the opponents, and she knew she had Dr. Fate to thank for that.
Fate is at my side, huh? Yeah, alright.
A snake-man made the mistake of charging head first into a flying kick of hers and was immediately thrown to the ground where he stayed.
Standing in the middle of the brawl, Knight allowed a beam of hope to shine down on her. Though this was no picnic, the Justice League was fighting back the invaders with resourceful efficiently. If they kept this up they would-
As if someone had pushed the fast-forward button on a rattlesnake, Aliff interrupted her confidence with a strike from the tip of his fingers. The attack went strait into the hardened fabric on her chest with enough force to send her backwards into the concrete.
She clutched her upper body and let out a painful moan.
Above her an inpatient Aliff moved around. Raised his hands like he was an Egyptian dancer in the year 500 BC and kept crouching, standing and bending.
“What are you … oh right, you are doing that Martial Arts snake fighting style. Why did I expect anything else?” she joked.
“Silence! I will destroy you in the blink of an eye!”
“Speaking of which. How come your eyelids aren’t transparent?” Hardly did Knight get time to finish her sentence, before his claws came down at her. Only just did she manage to roll out of the way and kick his wrist into a painful angle. She used his limb as leverage and jumped back on her feet.
“You fool,” he sneered, waving his long fork-tongue with each word. “I got you before. Your armor almost held, but I penetrated it with just the tip.”
“No, you didn’t. Knight lied, trying to keep her casual exterior.
“I felt it: My clawsss against your bare ssskin. And even if it was only a small amount, the venom will enter your system. The more you fight, the sooner it paralyzes you. Sssso … what are you going to do now, little hero?”
In that moment it felt like the whole city had gone quiet. Nothing else around them mattered. Knight stared at Aliff and he stared back. Then she raised her arms, tightened her fists and charged him.
There’s your answer, creep!

Robotman

&

From beneath the helmet, Fate saw Kobra’s cultists. The supreme sorcerer levitated and let his hands float to his side. Golden energies spawned from both of the similarly colored gloves. The helmeted hero pointed his glowing hands toward some of the cultists and spoke...

”’Ant falaleub bima la taerifuh.”

If successful, the cultists would find themselves frozen in place, a large Ankh forcing them still where they stood--nor could they speak. For the three or four snake soldiers in front of him, the spell worked flawlessly. However there was still much more going on around the outskirts of the city. Most of the civilians had fled the scene , with less than a half dozen still in cars or hiding around the outside areas of Slumville. Fate could feel it… the perverted supernatural energies of a man-made Lazarus Pit in the surrounding woodland areas. As some of the heroes focused on getting the rest of the civilians out of harm’s way, Knight had taken the fight straight to what appeared to be the leader. When another orange clad general in the Cult showed up baring fangs, it was proven not to be the case.

Robotman went into the fray a little slower than some of the others, but he had just as much fight in him. The other man of steel (and screws) couldn’t fly, or shoot bolts of energy, but he could beat up minions all day. Out of the corner of one of his robotic eyes he finally saw the King. Bare chested, sporting a crimson hood and cape, he and several DNA spliced minions were unearthing a Lazarus Pit from a failed experiment years earlier.

“Knew I should’ve made sure that pit was dried up…” Cliff Steele thought to himself fighting towards the woods and the caped leader of this group.

There was approximately three generals now in the fight clad in orange, as well as another two dozen or so snake-men, a couple brutes that looked more like their DNA was spliced with dinosaurs… and the hooded King who was currently overseeing his minions taking samples from the pit.

“That stuff’s not gonna make that face any less ugly, Cobra Commander!” Robotman yelled still smashing his way through a couple more minions.

The King finally turned to acknowledge the hero…

“I hate GI Joe as much as I hate YOU, Cliff Steele! Serpent men, BRING ME THE ROBOT’S HEAD!!” he screamed still focusing on the Lazarus Pit samples.

Fate could feel the tug of the pits; another had come and muscled his way through the King Kobra’s small army and was quite bodacious with his entrance. A calm glance was issued Robotman’s way, Fate spoke to the rest of those present,

”The way is seen. We must destroy the Kobra’s Lazarus Pits.”
The mystic Ankh beneath those four gathered Cultist henchman exploded into a swathe of engulfing energy, the force sufficient to send the quadruplet flying backwards into some of their brethren. Fate lowered himself to the pavement below. King Kobra had truly brought an army with him, but there was no might in the land which supplanted Order.

Fate strode forward. A wild feeling unearthed inside the sorcerer as his eyes veered toward the Kobra and the ever growing platoon of generals who fought at his whim. Around the untrained and the unaware there was always a boundary to be manipulated, a vulnerability to the machinations of energies from beyond. It was like strings, waiting to be pulled--like clay waiting to be shaped. With the Kobra and his generals, there was nothing. A little deduction, there was a protection spell. Smart. To all who were not preoccupied or who could hear him over their personal engagements with the Kobra’s henchman, he spoke...

”Make your way to the generals. I will deal with his kindred.” Fate faced both palms toward the growing and encroaching hoard of Snake cultist minions and formed an Ankh construct which he then pushed forward with both hands. Its aim was to part the horde down the middle and make a path for his allies to pass through unharmed--at least for the next ten seconds until the Cultists recovered from their daze.

”Move! It will not hold.” Fate yelled out as several of the snake-men grunts switched tactics and began using clawed weapons.

A Month Before Present...

Warden had been troubled with dreams for a while. Well... Troubled isn't quite the right word for it. In these dreams, he felt an intense tug towards a location not at all close to the earth, one that he assumed to be home to his plant half. Unfortunately for him, the Justice League was in something of a transition period, with himself as one of the only consistent members, so he was pretty much always on the clock.

which was fine, he didn't need to sleep. He just liked doing it. He felt like it made him fit in with the others better. And also the whole dreams where he felt the pull of home. Those were nice too.

Now though, with the Justice League properly functioning and more than capable of working on their own, he finally had a chance to take one of the fancy space jet things and go investigate whatever this call was. En lieu of any information regarding his human half, this had been the closest he had come to his origins, and he felt deeply that it was right for him to try and find it. So naturally, it figures that he'd be caught four days into his mission by a bunch of mind controlling slavers and spend the next three weeks working for them.

Three Days Before Present...

"Just a feeeeew more adjustments, aaaand....

ah shit"

The alien, with three eyes independently on stalks coming out of a central quadrupedal mass had no discernible facial features. Despite that, it still managed to look incredibly frustrated. He had noticed a ship coming his way.

This single alien had managed over the years to run an incredibly profitable slave asteroid, mining it for its copper, and controlling his victims with a mind control field that had a strong lingering effect. This was quite useful for him when he needed to repair it, and it also meant that even if people came to try and rescue these slaves, they would face a group of captives fighting as hard as they could FOR their captor. The issue was, Gdrench was not prepared for an attack by a group of Thanagarians.

"ah shit...ah shit...ah shit..." It frantically moved for its laser rifle, grabbed it with two of the eye stalks, and waited. It had been a mistake to attack that trade route. It had hoped that the reward in prey would have been worth it, especially Thanagar usually kept to itself. It was wrong in this instance.

The fight was short. Most of the captives were in no condition to fight, even though they wanted to. The plant-man, though. He was. Killed two on his own, and incapacitated three more. He was a strange catch: extremely unadvanced tech, clearly new to driving it, looked a bit lost. A strange catch, but an easy one. Kept saying something about going home. Gdrench decided that its asteroid would be his home instead. He acquiesced. Forcibly.

The explanation of this became the being's last will and testament, after the Thanagarians demanded an explanation as to where the hell that thing came from. when "that thing" later woke up, he requested permission to not go with the Thanagarians. They seemed pretty happy to not have to deal with him any more.

At this point, The Warden no longer felt comfortable following these dreams of his on his own. He would meditate on them, and come back at them later with more knowledge, and perhaps a few friends. He had been gone long enough, and needed to go home.

As usual, the party had started without him. Snake-people he sighed, stepping into the teleporter always with the mixing of different animals. makes me feel unique as a chimera of man and plant, I suppose. he passed through the teleporter, and took a moment to throw up on arrival. He never had, and never would find the experience of being disassembled pleasant. He observed the city, and the battlefield developing within and beyond it. Fate, as usual, was getting to the source of the threat, while some of the overall weaker members were tending to civilian protection - the stretchy guy looked new to him. It looked as though those two had their bit of the fight handled, which was good, because the Warden needed to make sure that these lizardmen didn't do too much damage to the forest.

He made quick work of the distance, running along on his vines with a near 60 foot stride, and threw himself into the nearest available dino-lizard person, who proved to be stronger than he expected. It held its own in the grapple war between the two of them, but seemed to have forgotten that The Warden had 3 more limbs. A few quick thwacks from a vine on the back of its head, and he fell to the ground. Warden then launched himself up with his vines, and pulled out a pinecone he had picked up on the way over to the fight. Focusing his power on it, it rumbled, and then burst into a sapling, and then a small and sturdy pine. On his way back down, he utilized this new growth to flatten a lizard into the ground. Using his vines in concert with this new club, Warden began to cut a hole in the general's defenses, trying to bring himself closer to the king, while awaiting further orders from Fate.

Midway City
In the wake of Fate plowing through the snake-men, Knight redirected Aliff’s head and made him chew down on a license plate. From there she kicked his big head up and connected with a few haymakers, before he found his footing.
The hybrid launched at her and got back into his Martial Art position, raising his arms like a drunk T-Rex. Once again, he struck with his fingers like a pincer and was punished for it with a karate chop to the neck. And then another after his second miss.
“Your snake fighting style doesn’t work so well against a fast opponent, does it?” she taunted, hoping to create further openings in her opponent.
“I’ll hit you when the poison reaches your heart … wait, why isssn’t it working? The venom should have brought you to your knees by now.”
Knight responded by doing a very energetic jump from side to side, arms raised.
“W-what are you?” Aliff asked, suddenly proving that snakes indeed could show - maybe not fear, but concern - in their face.
Knight placed a finger at her lips, before adverting another claw and kicking it, so its owner once again lost balance. She broke the windshield of a car, hurled the shards into his eyes and parked several elbows in his jaw, until it reminded her of jelly.
With the lovely sound of an overgrown snake-general collapsing into the trunk of a car, Knight breathed a sigh of victory.
Yay, one down, ten generals to go or something!
Not even sarcasm, as thick as Aliff’s skull, could completely restore her to full strength. However, it still helped. Knowing full well that she could not allow herself to stop, Knight launched through the path, created by the enormous Ankh of Fate.
All around cultists were starting to recover: shaking their heads, pushing comrades aside to get back up.
Knight ended up next to Warden where she slide over the asphalt and took away an extraordinary big brute’s footing. Then with all her might and ingenuity she engaged the generals.

Silver Bolt

Eyeing her foe, Silver Bolt could see a small chunk of the armor by the head she & Impulse had knocked off but that wasn't what peaked her interest. Sly Impulse had pulled a little wire out of the guys suit. Looking like a sickkk point of entry. Motioning to her buddy to distract those tendrils for a bit, Silver bolt crept up from behind and entered as pure electricity via the pulled wire. For her, traveling in this form could be analogous to swimming and having a whole pool to herself. She wasn't just in the suit now...It was an extension of her.

She could hear the guy yelling as he scrambled to figure out some way to get rid of her. Quickly, she found a way to disengaged the suit, and as all the pieces fell to the floor with a thud, a silver lightning bolt poured back out of the cord. As she took corporeal form, she sent her enemy a nice shock. Down for the count, Silver bolt started "This is how we do it!"she smiled, and gave Impulse a high five.

"Yo, are yall okay though?" she asked her teammates. Subconsciously was a little bit more worried about one than the other as she sprinted towards Sideways. Her electric field started cracking more haphazardly as she approached.
