And my god why haven't I seen this earlier. (I'll tell you why, there's another kaiju RP that recently caught my attention, but here looks to be like there's more people)
Can you play as a monster in this RP? Because if so I'm ALLLLLL in!
Also, considering this heavily focuses on indie comic characters, there is one character I would like to add in. Now, he's technically from a certain tokusatsu series - but this version of him comes from a manga several years ago that has recently been announced to make it into a TV series/movie. While I know you guys usually don't accept Manga characters (save for Sailor Moon) I can easily modify this character to fit within this sort of realm.
And who am I talking about?
Ultraman!
Also regarding the Big G himself, I also would like to introduce Dr. Serizawa from the recent Monsterverse series (he's also been in the Godzilla 2014 prequel comic Godzilla: Awakening - and presumably the upcoming Godzilla: Aftershock comic - so he technically counts) and maybe even Monarch as well (seen/mentioned also in the Kong: Skull Island Comics as well).
Edit: Last question - which incarnation of Godzilla are we using/what he looks like? The original 1954/Showa era? IDW's incarnations like those in either: Rulers Of Earth? The Half-Century War? Cataclysm? Gangsters and Golliaths? Or even Legendary Godzilla based off said comics I mentioned?
<Snipped quote by Lmpkio> I wish I've been accepted. Sadly it's a case of I just haven't been outright rejected. :D I'm sure when the IC goes up I'll finally know.
Fair enough.
Mine will have some anime roots, but Im not going to use the Anime's backstory exclusively. It's going to be more original. Hell might even include it within Monarch as some protoype/potential anti-kaiju weapon. Think Ant-Man but less ant-man and more Iron-Man.
Here is what I have so far for Dr. Serizawa (still a WIP). Couldn't find a good pic of him from the Awakening comic so I was forced to use a real-life pic (disgusting I know). I'll also attempt to make a Monarch profile for the organization as well - UNLESS the GM has plans regarding his own coalition, in which case I can merge this character to fit in with that.
"The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control, and not the other way around."
Name: Ishiro Serizawa
Age: 74
Nationality: Japanese
Occupation: Monarch Scientist
Abilities:
Intelligence: Dr. Serizawa's knowledge of the "Titans" and the ecosystem makes him a reliable and notable person of interest when talking about gigantic organisms like Gojira.
Resources: Dr. Serizawa works for Monarch, a secret multinational coalition created specifically to study the "Titans". They are comprised of top-scientists and have very close tie-ins to the United Nations and occasionally with the US Army and Navy, as well as sporting high-tech gadgets suited in studying and detecting these monsters. Any information on the Titans should be directed to he and/or to other Monarch members immediately.
Personality: Dr. Serizawa is an intelligent and somewhat stoic individual with a deep respect for the titanic organisms he studies. He is very critical of the human race, particularly towards their attempts to dominate their planet and their scant regard for the rest of nature. He believes that the titans' existence - particularly Gojira's - is in the good of nature, as he appears to restore balance when it is disrupted.
Backstory: Ishiro Serizawa was born in 1945, several months before the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, to a Japanese sailor and his wife. Ishiro's father found him alone in the ruins of Hiroshima and left him with his grandparents in Kyoto for the next several years. (WIP)
Supporting Characters:
Vivienne Graham - (Monarch Scientist - Assistant to Dr. Serizawa)
Dr. Chen - (Monarch Scientist "Mythographer"; Third-Generation Scientist of Monarch)
Mark Russel - (Monarch Scientist; Ex-Husband of Emma Russel)
Emma Russel - (Monarch Paleobiologist; Ex-Wife of Emma Russel)
San Lin - (Monarch Biologist)
Sam Coleman - (Monarch Communications Liaison)
Admiral William Stenz - (US Navy Rear Admiral - Close ties with Monarch)
You know what? I might save Steven Universe for FusionFall depending on what the GM says about my plans. In the case that my idea isn't approved, then I am planning for...
Or some other comic that gets my attention like Red Team or The Mercenary Sea.
I will outright say I would *prefer* if you just went with Fables...but if you want to try something else I won't stop you

First...let me just say that I'm glad you're here and interested. I think Ultraman could definitely fit in with what we're doing here, so I wouldn't discount him at all. My...aversion to Manga is that we've tried games like this in the past, and people tend to get a little out there with things. I'd like to keep it on the more "real" side...or as real as superhero comics can get. At least initially. I intend for more weird stuff to happen as the world progresses and humanity discovers they are not alone.
When it comes to Monarch, I was planning on having a division of either the BPRD or the EPF be focused on Kaiju, so that could be Monarch if we want. I'm more than happy to have Serizawa be in the game. To be clear though, let's just consider the 1954 Gojira canonical. Those events happened, but the world at large has never seen proof they happened. So Daisuke Serizawa and the Oxygen Destroyer happened. Maybe Ishiro Serizawa is a nephew or a relative or something.
As for Godzilla, my favorite design for him is the Heisei look, so in my head that's what he looks like, but I'd also say height-wise I'd like him to be Showa height at 50 meters. I'd like the kaiju to be on the smaller side when they do show up.

That actually sounds great, and exactly the kind of concept I think could work in this game.
In other news, I should have the OOC thread up tonight.

Alright! I will definitely start getting to work with Ultraman later on.

Well, he can definitely be the son if anything. But if you'd like it to be more distant, I can also accommodate to that.

Low-key wished for the Legendary to be a thing, but Heisei is a good classic design so I'm fine with it.

Nah, write whatever you want. I don't want to handcuff you.

I do really love the design he has in King of the Monsters, that's for sure. The updated dorsal fins make all the difference. But if that's what he looks like in your head, that's cool haha.

Alright.

Oh so it's one of those characters. Those *Think of whatever you want him to be as long as he is 50 meters tall* kind of characters yeah?
I'm so heckin' hyped. If nothing else, this movie'll look absolutely stunning.
I literally cannot see this movie failing in any way judging by that trailer. Only worry regards the human plot, but we've been promised more monster fights and this trailer seems to solidify this tenfold! I'd eat my words if it actually fails, that's how confident I am in seeing this succeed!

I feel pretty similarly. Both Skull Island and the first Godzilla knocked it out of the park with the actual monster stuff, and any weakness in the human plots was pretty easy to ignore imo. So long as they deliver more great action, I'll be a satisfied boi

Indeed. Godzilla '14's major problem was with the lack of Monsters being shown and too much emphasis on the human's plot. It was also reaaaaaally dark so we couldn't see the action very clearly. Skull Island balanced both factors pretty well and is a major improvement. But this next coming movie indeed promises to focus heavily with the monsters, so again we shall definitely see what's up.
And both he, Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah are not the only kaiju in that film either so again, very interesting to see what other original monsters we will see in said film.
