"its a nice place, dont you think?" he asked her as they entered the garden, flowers were growing every where, in many different colors. what do you think?" he asked "can you spend a lot of you time in a place like this?" he asked her

Eric shrugged a bit.

James waited.

Elizabeth shrugged again.

"i was in you library" she says looking at him "its quite extensive collection" she says to him "can we take books from there to our rooms to read?" she asked him

Brandon stopped her and looked at her "something wrong?" he asked her

Eric shrugged.

james looked at kali.

Elizabeth shook her head no.

she gave him a smile "thank you" she says to him "can i say something to you without you getting angry?" she asked Eric

"alright if nothing is wrong, then why aren't you talking?" he said to her.

Elizabeth shrugged.
"Nothing is wrong."

James waited.
Eric raised an eyebrow.
"yes?"

she glanced at james then back to eric "not to sound rude, but you look miserable" she says to him "i noticed it last night" she told him "it looked like you didn't want to be at the ball" she added "if you didnt want to be there why throw one?"

"i wish you would give me more then a shrug. eye rolls and sighs" he says to her "its hard to have a conversation when the other person doesn't talk back" he says to her and bumps her a little and smiles.

"It's not that I do not wish to be here, and besides it being tradition, I was waiting for someone. sadly, they have not shown up. I found out they are not coming."
Eric told them.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. She suddenly tripped. She gasped.

Brandon caught her "you okay?" he asked her as he help to get her steady on her feet.

"oh, im sorry, who were you waiting for?" she asked

Elizabeth nodded. She looked at her foot. The heel of her dress shoe was broken.

Eric sighed.
"It does not matter anymore."
He tossed away a ring.

James frowned. He felt bad. He looked at kali.

He looked at what she was looking at and he smiled. He scoops her up and carries her over to a bench and sets her down on it. he kneels down and takes her shoes off. "there, now you can walk barefoot in the grass" he says to her

she looked at the ring and frowned. She walked over and picked it up. she walks over to him and sits next to him. "then its her loss" she says to him. "it wasn't meant to be Eric, and someone new will come along that will take your breath away and return those feelings" she says "its a very pretty ring" she holds it in the palm of her hand for him to take back. "your soul mate is out there, dont give up" she says to him.

Elizabeth lifted her feet onto the bench. She shook her head no.

Eric sighed. he took the ring, but he placed it on the ground.

Eric corrected her. He sighed again and barely nodded.

james held kalis' hand.
"She is still right though."

Eric did not respond that time.

Brandon smiled "no to what?" he asked her then got up and sat next to her.

"oh sorry" she said sheepishly. "well then its his loss" she says to him. she puts her free hand on his. "he isn't the only one out there" she says "give it time but you will love again" she gave him a small smile and looked at James.

"Not without shoes."
Elizabeth frowned.

James nodded.

Eric sighed and nodded.
"I suppose."

"but why?" he asked her "its a great feeling on the feet" he says "have you never walked in your barefeet on grass before?" he asked her.

she bumped her shoulder with his "yes" she says smiling and she leans over and picks the ring back up. she stands up and puts the ring on the bench next to him. "someone deserving will come along" she tells him. she leans over and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "cheer up, if you ever just want to talk, i will be around" she told him and looked at James "lets go back to the library" she told him

Elizabeth nodded.
"I don't like it."

Eric nodded. He forced a faint smile.

James nodded. He walked with her back to the library.

he brings her legs to lay across his lap. "and why is that?" he asked her

She walked back with james and turned her head to look at Eric giving him a wave goodbye. She sighed as they walked back to the library. she was happy she would allowed to take a book or two back to her room to read.

Elizabeth sighed. She explained how she was locked out of her home once as a child, only in her nightgown, no shoes or a coat.

Eric waved back once. He sighed.

James walked with Kali back to the library.
"Are you alright?"
He frowned.

she looked at him and nodded "yeah" she says to him "i just feel bad for him, he obviously loved the guy enough to want to marry him" she says "he just had his heart ripped out" she says sadly.

he listened to her tell him her story. "im sorry that happened to you Liz" he says "on the bright side you dont have ugly feet" he says to her and tickles the bottom on her right foot and smiles. He wanted to make her smile.

Elizabeth bit her lip. She was ticklish. She then frowned when he stopped and narrowed her eyes. She did not like that.

James nodded. He held her hand.
"It is sad, yes. I guess his love just was not returned in full. The guy stood him up. If that does not say 'it is over', I do not know what does."
