“Well I’m really using nightmare/shadow magic which is essentially the same but I wouldn’t know how to summon it any other way so I’m not sure I could help you and shadow magic is incredibly finicky and notoriously one of the hardest to gain, control, and use hmm there’s a book on it in the library come to think about it I mean u definitely can’t summon it how I do it”

“But I do warn u have to be absolutely sure you actually want to do shadow magic before you try to use it”

"Pray tell, what is the risk?"

“Well once u actually manage to summon shadow magic for the first time it will just be a little wisp easy to get rid of and do something with. And that’s where the easiness ends, after that any time you summon it it’s untammed so it will appear in huge quantities and be VERY uncontrollable and unpredictable and it might attack you possibly and might summon at random times, during the whole period until you can get the control part down any sleeping u do will result most likely in horrific nightmares although you don’t really need to sleep anyway but you might still get tired. Managing to “tame” it requires lots of practice mainly in trying to only summon small quantities it requires lots of concentration and focus and will power but the more practice the better and the easier it gets to use it over time until any effects wear off”

Vali squinted. Sounds like Daemonic magic. "What is the source of this control difficulty? My understanding was that a thorough and accurate imagination is required for quality casting, but it appears that this shadow magic is a different beast entirely."

“Well imagination is certainly required but shadow magic stems from a different source than your probably used to its not a BAD magic per say that depends on how it’s used but there are multiple sources of magic the most common ones being good, neutral, and evil. Again how bad they are solely depends on how the user uses them although oddly enough it’s incredibly difficult for a person who is affiliated with the darker arts to learn good magic and for good magic to be used for bad purposes but since shadow magic comes from the source it does learning it is much different and learning a darker art generally means more difficulty and some sacrifice to use it as the source is rather reluctant, nuetral magic is the easiest to learn and at most simply requires a lot of practice and how easy good magic depends”

“Remember it’s possible to be able to do darker sourced magic but still not be evil, it’s an annoyingly common misconception”

Vali jutted her hip and laid a hand on it. A smirk formed on her lips before she replied, "So 'good' and 'bad' magic is judged by how hard it is? Tell me, Sir Jonathan..." She reached up and touched his chin. "...are you a bad boy?"

“ok um incorrect no actually very wrong and also WHAT?!”

Her eyes narrowed. She huffed with disgust and folded her arms. "Ugh, yes, I know what you meant. Killjoy. 'Good' and 'bad' magic is judged by the morality of its application range, right?"

“Uh well actually technically it’s determined by its source and we’re you listening to anything I just said?”

“I’m gonna head over to the library if you want me I’ll be there” *heads over to library which is across campus*
*is yet again lost in thought*

*walks into the library and sees somebody (it’s @james Davy) says a quick “hi” to them and walks over to the dark magic area and begins to look through the books*

*pulls out a book on advanced shadow magic* “this should do” *then checks it out and decides to go read it in the big grass lawn in the middle of campus under one of the trees*

Jade was sleeping on top of a big branch of one of the trees on campus, purring quietly.

*looks up to see the neko suprised*

She’s still asleep, blissfully unaware that she’s being watched down below.

She yawns before opening one eye and looking down below her. “Nya? What’s this?” Her tail flicked.
