Dead Cruiser Dishonour Before Death / Better You Than Me

I know this site doesn't get a lot in the way of feature updates but this is really something that I would find immensely useful. The ability to hide threads you're disinterested in would go a ways to making the site easier to navigate. Not to throw shade but the fact that something titled "Ponyhammer 40K" has been on the front page of the Advanced Interest Checks for a year is a crime.

My second thought is for there to be an "automatic hide" for posts/threads made by users that you can add to a blacklist/blocklist. Makes it easy to avoid threads with users that you find unpleasant, have had a falling out with, etc. Possibly makes you unable to receive PMs from that user as well, as I don't believe there is a dedicated block function on this site currently.

I remember being told on the Old Guild that blacklisting functions were "contentious" or something, but there's no reason they have to be. You don't have to send a notification to someone to tell them they've been blocked; if anything this would be a subtle and easy way to avoid conflict.

There's a few topics here I'll address and some clarification that may need to be made about the site and the inner workings.

Opening up on the ability to hide threads is something that comes as two fold. The Guild has been set up as a custom built, conventional style forum which in its structure means that you will more than likely see topics and threads that disinterest you. To allow the ability to hide individual threads for each individual user is a hell of a lot of work to design and code as Mahz cannot simply import code to make this happen; he has to write it into the forum with a new database of information. I don't see Mahz focusing on this anytime in the near future with other things requiring more attention.

In regards to the Ponyhammer RP... if you were to look inside the thread you will see that it got bumped recently. The thread has not been up on the front page for a full year — impossible even — as the last time it was on the front page was 2 months prior in the second to last post with almost 50 topics listed as being last posted in within one month or less. Don't wanna sound too harsh, but I feel you're over reacting with calling a bimonthly bump a crime.

Blocklists: Same issue as the hidden thread. The only other comment I will make is that if there is a point where you have to block someone, then maybe you should contact a moderator. If it's due to an issue like harassment then we will deal with that on a staff level. In the same tone I do have to agree with the term 'contentious'.

If you are in an RP you are there to collab with all the other people who chose to join and got accepted. It is the GM who runs the RP and the players who must abide by the GM's wishes; this will always be the case forevermore. If you were to start blocking other players because you do not wish to see their posts, then perhaps you yourself should leave the RP, or avoid it, because you are not participating in the best interest of the RP as a whole. Raise your concerns with the GM, or raise them with a moderator so that the mod can talk to the GM. The last thing you want to become is "that guy who killed an RP" because you failed to communicate your concerns to your GM and decided to take matters into your own hands.

That's the main reason why there is no Block features as it is a way to severely inhibit communication on a site that has been designed to enhance communication.
