Summer.
Welcome to Sympathy, California, a large and expensive urban city known for its many popular tourist attractions, its beaches, its universities, and most of all, its extraordinarily hot summers, which happens to attract foreigners from all over the world to come and bask in the hot Californian sun and to attend their prestigious universities. The busy inner city is full of breathtaking skyscrapers and businesses that have advertisements everywhere, making the scene beautiful and picturesque at dusk, but the traffic is as bad as you would expect of a populated city like this.
But as the night complements the city, dawn is a totally other spectrum, casting a majestic scene over the white sand beaches, illuminating the natural elements and hotels that surround the waves, and all of this together gives the city a very sleek and modernized feel to it, almost in a dystopian way.
But as most are attracted to the high of the inner city and the crowded, yet gorgeous beaches, downtown has to be where it's at.
Full of bustling hole-in-the-wall restaurants, coffee shops, obscure clothing lines perfect for college students, smoke and skate shops, plenty of antique stores, and it's aesthetically pleasing book stores and clubs, it fits within the criteria of the ambitious yet money spending college student looking to have fun, but not in debt as other more popular stores would leave them. Downtown isn't nearly as popular as it should be, to the regulars, it's as beautiful as any other place and even more spectacular, especially with the Annual Light Show held at the end of summer and frequent parties held there, it couldn't be more like home.

Near the far edge of the city, some ways away from the inner city but closer to Downtown, is a small neighborhood a bit isolated from all the tourist attractions and busyness of overall Sympathy. Surrounded by friendly and fortunately, tolerating people, a couple of friends had the wonderful idea of sharing a duplex, pitching in on rent and just helping each other out. No one really knows whose idea it was originally, but word spread and soon enough, the entire (depending on how many people join) duplex was rented out by these young, college aged adults. Basically, it was a good idea for those who didn't have enough money to pay for their own place, especially in this costly city, and went to one of the universities Sympathy offered, or just wanted a place to hang out, maybe you actually do have a lot of money. Why you wanted to live here, who knows, that's up to you. But altogether, it's almost like a frat or sorority house, but with or without the college hassle.
The duplex is pretty nice, though a bit crowded, six of you sharing a 3 bed, 2 bath (Both full baths), so two of you to a room, for both parts of the duplex (size will be adjusted due to the number of people joining). It has its own yard and pets are allowed, though the landlord makes visits often to make sure maintenance is kept up, especially knowing a bunch of college kids live there.
So no matter what the story of how they got there and why, it doesn't really matter, after all, it is summer break, honestly the best time of tear. No school, endless parties, romance, and Netflix binge marathons, the days go by faster than expected. Already some time has passed since the start of break, but that doesn't matter either; summer only has just begun and the possibilities are literally endless. It's time to enjoy the last years of youth until adulthood truely starts, the last
