[IC] The Rise of the Guardian

Scarlet nodded and said “from what I have heard these attacks are getting more common and more dangerous. And there are rumors of a darkness from he south…from the dead lands where the dragons once were…but I’m not sure how it’s all linked…”

[Jazz]

Listening this news, Carth wondered himself how this maybe all linked together. And since rumors may have a bit of truth, though small. Carth wondered what kind of darkness would hold if it was also possible that same darkness made the dead lands. But from what he understood, they were going west. "I wouldn't know. But maybe if we can find out more on finding Ash's memories, maybe we can find that out as well. Who knows." He wondered why the dragons were no longer around. Or at least it seemed like they were all wiped out.

Scarlet nodded and moved to check Ashs temperature and frowned. “She’s warm again…dang it. We may need to find a doctor at the fort…”

Carth could only feel a sigh escape his lips when it was discovered that Ash’s temp was. He hoped once they got to said fort that Ash would be able to get a rest to recover. “We may want to pick up the pace a bit then. So she will be able to get seen as soon as possible.” Carth then had his horse pick up the pace, he placed his arm around her waist so she was more stabilized.

Scarlet nodded and moved her horse to keep up with his. “We should get there before night fall…hopefully we can get somewhere inside so she can rest and we can figure out what the heck is going on…”

If they could figure out even a little bit more of what was going on, Carth would feel a bit better and maybe even feel like he was a little more prepared. The creatures, the sudden darkness. As far as he knew this was nothing this world had seen before and had to have tipped the scales of balance. The sudden disappearance of the dragons from the south was as far as anyone knew, was a mystery from a long time ago. This only now encouraged him to pick up the pace even more. “Do we know how far this fort is?” The warrior asks.

Scarlet looked up and then said “the map said it’s by the mountain range. So keep down this path and we will find it”

With a hum Carth kept up the pace on the path. He was concentrated on looking for the fort as they traveled. It would check on Ash every now and then throughout the trip.

A few hours later they came upon the mountain side and then the huge stone fort carved into the cliffs. Scarlet slowed down and whistled “crap…I didn’t think it was this big…”

[Jazz]

Carth looked upon the mountain side as they slowed to a stop. Seeing what looked to be a fort. "Might be bigger on the inside." Carth was honestly impressed with what it looked like from the outside. Now hopefully they could get some help. Carth tapped the side of his horse with his foot to have his horse take the first steps toward the fort.

Scarlet moved forward as well as they made it to the main gates and she knocked on the huge doors and moved back a bit. “Hopefully someone is home”

Carth hoped so too. He waited a bit before they heard sounds of metal clanking on wood loudly. A small rectangular eye slot at the left door. “State your business.” A male voice commanded. Carth backed up as he looked to the door that gave the command. “We are here for shelter and a doctor. My friend here is sick. We were attacked and she fell ill, sir.” Carth explained.

The man seemed quiet for a bit before finally speaking. “One moment.” He then shuts the peep hole and more sounds of metal on wood clanking about before the one of the huge doors was opening. Carth motioned his horse forward where a soldier guided them to the stables. Carth got off his horse carefully before getting Ash and settling her in his arms. Another soldier motioned them to follow where he guided them through the huge cavern that was this fort.

As soon as they got to a door, said guiding soldier knocked on the door where a shout could be heard. "If one of you numbskulls decided to be a dumbass and almost blow yourselves up one more time out of bordom, I swear-" The door opens, a young looking man looks to them only to stop mid sentence before looking to the group before him. "Oh....I am so sorry, please come in and set her on the bed and tell me all about what happened." The young man explains while Carth sets Ash on the bed that the doctor instructs. Figured he'll leave the explaining to Scarlet.

Scarlet followed and walked inside the cabin and said “she was hit when we were attacked by a creature…her back burned hot…we aren’t tot sure what happened but now she has a fever” ash stirred softly, turning her head slightly.

[Jazz]

The young doctor hums here and there, going up to Ash and examining her, checking her pulse, feeling her head and face for her temperature, seeing what injuries she had before looking to the two newcomers. "I see. I'll take good care of this young lady while you go see the captain. I am sure he will want to talk to you about more about your business here and such." He then looks to the soldier near the door. "Sir Jaren, could you escort them to the Captain's office please?" Sir Jaren nods before outstreching his arm to follow him. Carth nodded, following the soldier, memories of his training coming back, the habits and motions coming back.

Scarlet nodded but looked at Serena and then said “please take care of her…she’s been thru a lot…”

The doctor smiled, which seemed genuine and honest. "I will look after her and do all I can like any other patient." He tells the redhead before waving his hand to shoo her off as he then gets to work.

Heading toward the Captain's office, Carth was looking around. Living spaces to even shops and storage areas seemed to be carved along the side of walls of the mountain, stairs carved within as well. Carth was amazed by the stone craft. the whole fort looked like a village. It seemed from what Carth could see, this fort also housed the spouses and children. Even training new recruits. Coming to what seemed like another section of the fort. A more, centralized area of the military aspect of the fort, Sir Jaren lead the two toward the Captain's office.

Where once the doors opened, sat at his desk, a man who seemed to be withing his 30's, short black hair neatly kept and his uniform slightly different from the rest. Showed he was Captain. He looks up, brown eyes laid upon Carth and Scarlet. Carth stopped at the center of the office at attention. "At ease lad." This Carth relaxed. hands at his side. Sir Jaren leaves them to business.

"My name is Captain Sigard. So I hear you need shelter, maybe even supplies. This I can spare. How long do you think you plan to stay for?" The Captain asks.

"Few days sir. At least till our companion is well for travel." Carth states. The Captain nods to this. "Very well. I have Quarters prepared for you and your friends. I only ask is that during your stay that you rest and stay out of trouble. I call upon you if we need any help. We all do our share here to keep the fort running smoothly but fairly." "Yes sir." Sigard nods before letting them leave, which Carth nods, takes a step back before turning on his heel and walks off.

Sir Jaren is waiting for them, whom escorts them to their quarters not far from the compound. Opening the door, there is a decent main room with a room that leads to a kitchen, and two more rooms that look to be bedrooms. all rooms furnished. Sir Jaren leaves them to their own devices. Carth relaxes before looking to Scarlet. "Sooo....What was next?" He asks, unsure what the whole plan was.

Scarlet had kept quiet during all of this then when they were alone said “we need a library. Maybe we can get some kind of answers while Ash recovers. We have to find a way to keep her from getting hit like this…hopefully the doctor can find something for her…”

[Jazz]

It seemed like a good idea to Carth. See what history they had and what could learned. "I'm sure Ash will be fine. The doctor seemed like a he can help her so we wait for news." Carth explained. "Let's go find the Library!" Enthusiasm coating Carth's words and actions as he opens the door, out into the busy comings and goings of activities and businesses. First thing he does is ask someone where the Library was. They get told where to go, which Carth thanks them for their help and goes on.

Once at the library, Carth looks to Scarlet and seems confused. "So what exactly are we looking for?"

Scarlet looked around and said “history and maps. I think our answers lie in what happened in the location Ash was in before she was found by the rangers…”

Ash stirred in the medical ward, turning her head and fighting to open her eyes.

[Jazz]

"Alright. Time to study..." He walks off in a random direction of the library, starting at one shelf and working his way through, anything that seemed related to what Ash told them to the creatures, maybe anything about the dragon lands to the South.

The Doctor was busying himself about the room, working on something with the ingredients that he was gathering. Setting them on his work table, the young man looked to Ash as he heard her stir. He comes up to her bedside, placing the back of his hand on her forehead, checking her temperature.
