Super Classic, ??? Memorial Airport, 8:25 PM

Gates 12 through 16 lined one side of a large, clean, well-lit hallway. Grids of cushioned chairs formed waiting areas for each gate, against a mostly glass wall that provided a nearly useless view out into the night. The other wall held a line of small stores, bathrooms, and lounges with the white tiles of the hallway proper providing walking space for those moving from gate to gate, and stopping at stores in the meantime. At the end of the hall, beyond gate 16, lay the doors to gates 17 and 18 for international departures, and the entryway for international arrivals to reach their connecting flights in the hallway.

The various blinking lights of the runway were all that could be seen through the large windows, the pitch-black night sky not offering even a single hint as to what kind of landscape this so-called "Super Classic" was built on. Out of that night sky emerged the latest plane to arrive at the airport built in memory to some unknown person- for whoever this place was named after had the misfortune of a name so unpronounceable that it came out as a useless garbled sound the few times a tired-sounding woman spoke it over the intercom.

This place, it seemed, was simultaneously lethargic and also too busy to function. Most stores were closed or unattended, employees were scarce and completely absorbed in their tasks, and the smattering of passengers held a similar attitude, being mostly interested in their connecting flights. Funnily enough, not a single person who emerged from the most recent arrival headed for the exit. Super Classic, to all of them, was a no-name stopover.

Most are too tired to think on it, but isn't there something off about all this? Something lurking under the surface of this dull, apathetic place?

The grating sound of the intercom woke Kris up from his nap, and the first sensation he registered was an ache in his neck and shoulders. With great difficulty, he shifted from his curled-up position to sit up straight in his chair. Rubbing the back of his neck, he leaned back until his head hit the glass wall behind him, and took a look at the time on his phone.

Almost 8:30. Great.

He had only managed to sleep for about half an hour, with another three hours until his flight. He hunched over, resting his elbows on his knees, quietly groaning. This was all too much; he just wanted to go home.

Spending the weekend with family across the country might not seem like a lot to deal with, but it absolutely was for Kris. It wasn’t his family that was the problem; his cousin’s wedding was perfectly nice, there was no drama or fights, and he liked his aunts and uncles just fine. For someone like him, whose average social interaction began with, “Did you find everything okay?” and ended with, “Here’s your check, come again soon,” two days of celebrating with a bunch of people he rarely ever saw was just exhausting. The flights were even worse, as he was stuck in close quarters with people who didn’t even have the advantage of sharing DNA with him. At this point, he would kill to be back in his shitty apartment feeding the stray cats and ignoring the rest of humanity.

Feeling stiff, he stood up to stretch. He didn’t feel rested in the slightest, but since he had just woken up, there was no way he’d be able to get back to sleep. He just had to deal with the waking world for a while, then. He started walking nowhere in particular, eventually leaning against a wall and pulling his hood over his head.

Absently letting things float through his mind, his thoughts turned to, well, what could he really call it? His ability? Superpower? Whatever it was, the new skill that had revealed itself to him over the last few months. An idea started forming in his head. He had drawn an eye near the back entrance of a butcher shop he lived near. When he was bored, he liked to focus on that eye in particular and look through it. The stray cats liked to hang around there, because they always got to eat the leftover meat. It was always cute to watch.

Trying not to stand out too much, Kris covered his left eye with his hand. He closed his right eye and opened it again. Anyone watching might notice that his eye had turned entirely red. It wasn’t like this for long, though; as he tried to access the eye he had drawn, he was met only with a vision of searingly bright red and an intense migraine. With a groan of pain that he hoped wasn’t too loud, he slid down the wall until he was sitting on the floor. He quickly stopped his ability, and the pain immediately lessened. His head still ached, but it wasn’t the sharp stabbing pain he had been feeling. He felt something wet dripping down his right cheek. He wiped the sticky red substance off of his face, surprised at how fast his eye started bleeding; normally, that only happened when he had been looking for too long.

Pro Tip: don’t do that again. Shit, that hurt…

Well, he was bored before, but now he was bored with a headache. Cool. He pulled his hood down farther over his head and got comfortable on the floor. He could only hope that no one had seen his little fuck-up.

Daniel

Daniel had just gotten off of the plane and arrived in the waiting room. Why was he here again? He couldn't remember, but he was here now, and taking another eight hour flight back home wasn't exactly on the top of his to-do list.

Aside from the peanuts and water on board the plane, he was starting to get pretty hungry. Looking around, many shops were closed, and the few that weren't seemed pretty packed. A pretzel shop was open, but the line looked pretty long, maybe he should try somewhere else first. Upon looking further one shop, seemed less densely packed than the rest: a Knick-Knack shop selling various souvenirs.

Heading inside, Daniel wandered looking for anything that caught his eye. He ended up landing on a model of an old WWII airplane. It was a rusty red color, and fit in the palm of his hand. Well, it would, if it weren't for the thick plastic packaging containing it.

Waiting a surprisingly short amount of time in line, Daniel had purchased his new toy. Deciding to try and get a closer look, Daniel attempted to free the plane from the plastic. This was the kind of stuff you'd need scissors to open. Either that or a Sword or something... Wait.

Daniel held out his hand, and Dragon Slayer appeared. With a swift, dragging motion, the plastic was cut open. Daniel put his hand back to his side, and the sword disappeared. He had to admit, having Dragon Slayer was quite useful for stuff like this. And apparently nobody could see it. Well, there was 9ne person who commented on it, but he was a passing stranger and never seen again by Daniel.

Looking back to the Pretzel shop, the line was slightly shorter, and Daniel headed to the back of it, admiring his new plane.

Joy Jordan

Joy had been in the airport for hours now, and she was beginning to run out of things to do. She was sitting down, working her way through considerably more pretzels than was healthy (which she had paid for, thank you very much), checking the time every minute or so, hoping that somewhere along the time she could skip a couple more hours. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and she stood up, ready to stretch her legs for the first time in much too long. God, they were so stiff. Her hair was so greasy too. Joy couldn't wait to get off that next plane, and go home. Which was in... two hours.

She took a quick walk around, watching everything that was happening with a blank expression. Some lady arguing with the barista at a cafe, blond guy with a beanie looking around a shop, old man on the phone to someone. Nothing particularly interesting, though she didn't really expect anything bizarre to happen. She checked her phone. Thirty-two percent battery. It had to last the whole journey home, or at least until the end of the flight, so she couldn't just sit on that either. Joy groaned just as a small, transparent figure formed behind her.

Well, there wasn't any harm in having it around. It wasn't as if anyone could see it. She hadn't met anyone that could, after all. Its antics were amusing, and as it floated around her head, performing somersaults and creating vague animal shapes with its hands as Joy watched with a smile. By chance, it drifted in front of a wall, where someone was standing and hey, was that blood? Her stand quickly moved behind her, peering over her shoulder and cocking its head.

She took another look, and though she was at a distance where it was kind of hard to tell, there weren't many red liquids that could come from someone's head. Maybe it was a medical condition, or some kind of injury. Not really her business why, but she shoved a hand into a bag and pulled out a packet of tissues. She walked up to the person, who was now sitting on the floor, and held it out to him. Her stand trailed behind her with about as much interest as it could show for what it was.

"Hey, your, uh," she said, motioning with her other hand to her face. "Do you want a tissue? Take one, I don't mind."

⇝👁 DISTRUST 👁⇜

While nursing his headache and debating whether or not to watch some videos and use up the last of his data for the month, a voice made Kris look up from the floor. He really didn’t mean to glare at the girl who approached him, but his face wasn’t exactly sweet-looking on his best days, and the ache in his temple wasn’t helping at all. Realizing this, he tried to smooth out his expression, because while he never claimed to be friendly, he didn’t want to come off as an asshole for no reason. Especially when the person in question was offering tissues for his face, which must have still been stained with red.

It took a second for him to formulate a response; all that came out of his mouth was, “Oh. Uh, thanks. Th-thank you.”

He took a tissue and wiped his face off, trying to forget how awkward he sounded. Once he was sure his face was clean, he looked back up at the girl and froze.

Behind her was… well, something. It looked vaguely humanoid, but shining like the inside of a diamond. Honestly, it was a beautiful sight, but that was overshadowed by just how damn weird it was. Kris didn’t say anything, but the shock was written on his face.

Daniel

Interacting with @knifeman and @Aviaire

The line moved surprisingly fast, leaving little time for Daniel to admire his previous purchase. Almost his turn, he looked up at the menu above the cashier. He fell in love with the first thing he saw. Beer cheese filled pretzel bites. Two customers and a debit card swipe later, Daniel had a fairly large plastic cup filled with the Pretzel bites.

The first thing he did upon leaving the shop was throw one into his mouth. A little heavy on the salt, but the ratio of beer cheese to pretzel was pretty good, considering how fast they had to make them.

He popped in one after another as he wandered around the room, looking for more things to do. He also needed to remember what he was here for. It was something about meeting an Uncle or something. Apparently he had something for the museum. He was supposed to meet him tomorrow, so tonight he could just do whatever. His dad had given him $800 to cover hotel expenses and anything else he might need. And he paid for the airline tickets.

Eventually running out of pretzel bites, Daniel looked down disappointingly at the empty cup. Throwing it into a nearby trash can, he looked around for an exit of sorts.

Rather than finding an exit however, Daniel found a woman tending to someone who seemed to be bleeding. Daniel walked over to the pair and saw that the person had a bleeding eye.

"You hit your head or something, man? You want me to get you some ice? I'm sure I can get some from one of the shops."

Daniel knelt down to get a closer look, whe he noticed a look of almost shock on the victim's face. Turning to look at what he was looking at. The person previously tending to him had some sort of glass figure floating around her.

"Oh that's cool. Is that like a drone on something? Where'd you get that?"

Joy didn't really comprehend what was happening for a minute. The person she'd given a tissue to looked shocked for a reason she couldn't figure out. She didn't get much time to, because someone else had come over, and turned to look at what had made the white haired one so weirded out. Joy followed their gaze, confusion blatant on her face, until it dawned on her exactly what they were looking at.

Her stand. Right out in the open, which she had thought was invisible to the whole world, and they could see it. Questions whirled around her mind immediately, a whirlwind of panic.

Why can they see it? No one's done that before. Oh god, what if other people find out? Are they gonna experiment on me or some shit like in movies? What's going to happen?

Joy took steady breaths. She could fix this all, maybe. First of all, she called back her stand, and it vanished. She could always summon it again later. Then, she decided to fervently deny its existence. "A... drone? I don't own anything like that. Maybe you're just imagining it. Maybe you've both hit your heads! It happens, y'know, she said, quite clearly nervous. She was ready to get up and sprint off, but that would be kind of suspicious. So she stayed in place, for the time being. She made a note to be a little more careful with her stand from now on - but then again, they could both just have a few screws loose. No use risking it though, she'd taken too many risks that she really couldn't find any kind of justification for this one. If all went well, they'd all go on their own flights and she would never think or see them again. Problem solved!
