nooooooooooo

Tech may be harder to explain, and thus, have its power justified, but it is no way inferior to magic.

Mostly because you can't charge/prep them.

Outside of T1 tech would kill almost everything.

Charging technology depends on what weapons you're using, once I get LeeRoy re-equipped and his ship repaired you'll see how charging weapons works.

Khan thinks that magic (or supernatural powers) beats tech, 9 times out of 10.

That's hilarious.

I think he meant after a certain power level. At lower power levels technology will beat magic 9 times out of 10. For example, you can have a machinegun at tier 1 (I believe) but you cannot rapid fire long range lethal magic until way further. Even if you could that would use a ton of energy while bullets come cheap.

Name any magic spell and I can come up with a piece of technology that would equal the same power without the added physical exhaustion.

Cheap, but heavy. One of the advantages that magic does give you is having a wide selection of spells without any weight penalty. Healling, omni-hazardous protection, highly effective situational attacks and whole lot of other stuff - having all that in tech requires a lot of equipment and heavy-duty transport, whilst arcane powers allow to avoid the hussle.

That is why i preffer a soft blend of technology and magic. :3

A lot of characters tend to be able to carry any amount of guns and ammo no problem, so...

Well, a load of equipment calls for huge feet. Unless you want sink into the ground with every step you take, you ought to have either a big character, or one with a non-human locomotive system, or one with additional tech (jetpacks for just being able to walk, lol).

I don't think weight is a major issue in a universe where characters can lift 100 or more tons.

Technology is in no way inferior to magic, nor vica versa. They both have their pro´s and cons. Technology can be prepped just as much as magic can, and in most cases come out superior in that field, as it often becomes the item itself charging, and not the wielder (allowing the wielder to do other moves unhindered), of course, this can be done with magical artifacts as well.

Vordak has a great point on the weight issue.

I actually designed a suit of power armor for LeeRoy's super soldiers. It's on stilts that end in large flat feet, they allow for movement on the softest terrain, despite the great weight of the equipment they carry.

The perspective is wonk because I'm a shitty artist, but you get the idea.

Also, about the topic of weight.

Just because YOU can lift 100k tons, doesn't mean the GROUND can. If the weight is higher than what the ground can take then you're going to fucking sink. Never forget that when writing.

Sure aint an issue, Asta, but some (me, for example), preffer more or less humanoid characters, and this is where is does kick in. I dont really like neither mecha, nor MBT, nor magical collosus combat, since having a 9000 ton OMGWTFISTHAT hop around like a ballerina or wield a sword instead of just showering the whole of poor Default City with nukes seems absurd - but stunts, melee combat and use of the enviroment are in fact one of the most enjoyable parts in arena fighting for me.
