Mechs are extensions of one's being, and there are characters large enough to fight with Mechs. Having a Mech isn't unreasonable for a badass normal to fight a character like Sukoh.

But a tank?

That's suicide.

Is he any less of a character if he sits in a tank? Somehow less capable of characters development? Would an AI tank be any more of a character? We're in a magic swordsman rut, my friends, one that I intend to defy.

No, I don't think you understand. A tank would get cut, or crushed, to bits by even the most average intermediate combatant. It's slow as hell, and its ability to aim ain't fast either. If someone can fly, the thing is even more useless, and if they can just keep moving out of its aim and circle in on it, they can keep doing damage to it while you sit inside of it uselessly.

Seriously, there's not much point in it.

If you post a tank character, I'll accept it.
But I'm telling you now.

Any intermediate character can fuck up a tank. Literally any.

There are so many more possibilities than having a guy in a tank.
Hard Science Fiction can give you a fuckton of possibilities.

Seriously, I can cough up five ideas in the amount of time it takes me to write this explanation.

Iron Man sure isn't Hard SF. Vulcans are just a race (whose grab bag of powers is impossible), Borg are androids which I may do, never heard of Doomguy. Will look into Tiberian Sun.

This is a roleplay, handwave some shit.
Borg are not androids, they are indoctrinated organics.
If you have never played DOOM I don't believe you've ever lived.

Unless you intend to enter like, five characters with different vehicles. And form some kind of hard science fiction power rangers and fuse all the vehicles into one big fucking mech.

These vehicle based characters are either:

A: Not going to ever get into fights.
B: Never going to win.

Looked up Doomguy. I have played Doom, but never knew him by that name. At intermediate, he would get owned.

It would be a very advanced tank, capable of 90 mph, which is not unreasonable given the modern Abrams can make 60 mph. The main gun, which would only be used in very long range shooting or fighting large opponents, would use rails to fire high explosive rounds or depleted uranium rounds. The coax and hatch mounted particle beams would do much of the heavy lifting against magic swordsmen.

Doomguy can run at 58mph consistently while lugging around upwards of 200-300 lbs of shit on his back.
Never gets tired.
Can punch DEMONS so hard that their intestines fall out their backs.
Has a shit ton of gear that can liquefy the final boss in seconds.

But he isn't very durable, as I recall.

I'd say with that gear, physical capability, and what I presume would be considerable amounts of combat skill, he wouldn't need it.
