Oh. Sorry. I honestly cant tell sometimes. Being on the internet so long has dulled my "Joking Perceptors" I've had to deal with people who acted totally ridiculous and were not joking about it, so I do earnestly apologize for jumping to conclusions. The other question stands though. I dont know what I did to deserve the hate *Sobs*

I too am curious as to why Keezheekoni and Kholodny Zima are unlikeable characters. In fact, TheBiddz and I designed them to be as likeable as possible. We wanted them to be funny and entertaining. What did we do to earn this ire?

If that is what you want great. If others want to engage you great. I choose to avoid these two characters unless forced too. I just don't like them.To me they are neither likable nor fun to read.

Why can't characters who aren't: "Oh we're war hardened monsters who love to kill and have no regrets murdering people." Able to be taken seriously?

We gave them personality traits that would be indicative of people who have been granted the powers that they have. They're not just throwaways, they actually have depth of thought put into them.

Keezi's hotblooded and extremely excitable because she's a comic book lover, and when she got superpowers she was excited. But then that excitement quickly turned into frustration, because there were literally no villains around.

Kholodny is a downtrodden individual who is basically the butt of the joke of the universe, poor guy has been dealt a shit hand in an albeit comedic way. Now he's afraid of everything, including his own power which causes him great physical discomfort, and he's got a sailors mouth from getting tired of dealing with this stuff for his entire life.

Now, what's missing there? Why aren't they likeable? We wanted to put some variety in the multiverse, we wanted someone who WASN'T just a monster who wants to kill people. They're PEOPLE with PEOPLE'S personalities. What's wrong with that?

Its a good thing I have plans for a more serious character. I mean, I totally get that this is a serious environment, but people have different reactions to things. We can't all be super tough warrior leaders.

You seem to be assuming that there are two different types of character in this here universe.

- Your characters which don't take anything seriously (which aren't very accurate I might add, because I literally live my life this way, no one is outwardly funny all the time, though I don't dislike them, I just think their motives are going to be hard to define because in reality, only people with a certain edge would survive in this universe.)

That's just not true, try taking a gander at some of my characters and their back-stories, they all have incredibly poignant reasons for what they do and how they act. You'll find the same with most of the characters here, they don't have to be comic relief or serious war masters to make good characters, but if you expect people to want to interact with you then a balance is required.

Our characters do take things seriously though. At least mine does. Kholodny's only been around for 3 posts. He hasn't had anytime to get past "Holy shit I've just been dropped in a world I know nothing about with things that could probably very easily kill me". I know this is an arena, but its not like there's no room for his personality to develop. He'll develop at least some kind of edge, whether he likes it or not. I just think think its a little unreasonable to dislike a character when there's been no chance for him to do anything. His motive right now is to not die, and saving the world would be a nice bonus. So I think if he justs gets a bit of time, he'll become a much more rounded character, personality wise. Maybe slightly less annoying.

Not taking being dropped into the Nexus seriously is by all accounts ridiculous. Hysterical joking I could understand, perhaps, but then everyone else would as well and everyone else seems to dislike the characters.

Not wanting to die is a motive everyone has, but if nothing else drives him he won't work in the Arena. People like that have no reason to seek out fights, and without seeking fights a character who everyone seems to want to avoid isn't going to be doing much.

I see your point, Melon, you make a 100% valid response to what I just said. But these characters have had, what? About twelve paragraphs total between the two of them? People are immediately judging them based on their initial reactions to being dropped headfirst into a world where they have no idea what to do next. Keezi's a big fuckin' nerd, and she's excited and has honestly been dreaming of something like this her whole life. And yeah, she's acting childishly in the start, but she has not seen anything serious happen so far in this roleplay yet. So she's not exposed to anything.

Like Biddz said. Disliking them before there's any room to develop is kind of unreasonable.

He's totally taking it seriously. I may joke around when I type these to make it a bit more humorous, but there's nothing not being taken seriously. LeeRoy jokes around too, but even he takes things seriously. Trying to be funny is just how we do things. And yeah, I guess if everyone wants to avoid him because "Oh he's a coward he'll obviously just runaway" then fine. I wasn't planning on running from any fights. He's fucking going to do what he has to do, he's just not be happy about it.

Well, maybe if the characters start exhibiting some more acceptable characteristics in time they'll get more attention, but I wouldn't expect too many people to be rushing to make compelling narrative with you both too soon.

The problem is, you've had only a few posts, that I can accept (sort of...) but that's all you really had to entice others to play with you, now you're stuck in web land and have to hope someone doesn't mind your characters and wants to join them.

Whatever it is that people don't like about them. Probably their attitudes to life in general, constant joking is kind of annoying to read.

Alright well, tomorrow Im gonna post a character who is SIGNIFICANTLY braver and more battle driven. Hope you like that motherfucker a bit more. Cause ready or not, here comes the boom.
