Plot
Within the infinity of the multiverse, there lies a parallel Earth where Pokemon are real. Set nearly a hundred years into the future and combining Pokemon technology from the games/anime, life on this Earth is much different than it is today.
For example, you need to be at least 30 years old to become a trainer, BUT due to advanced medical technology, humans age at a much slower rate. A 30 year old in this world would actually only look about... 10 years old. *wink*
Once you've become a trainer, life is quite similar to the anime. You can compete in battle leagues and contests. You can become a breeder or a ranger. The world is your Cloyster.
However you decide to spend your time, the International Pokemon Association will be there to aid you. They provide free services such as health care (found at Poke Centers), free items such as Pokeballs (found at Poke Marts), and a number of other things like free transportation. Poke Centers and Poke Marts are found in practically ever city and town in the world.
In return for the free aid, trainers agree to carry out assignments, which are sent directly to your Pokedex. You may turn down assignments, but of course, turning down too many will result in your loss of trainer status. At which point, you will no longer receive free services or items.
The Gist of Things
In this RP, you can be either a new trainer or an established trainer. You can travel anywhere in the world and catch Pokemon or any number of things you can imagine.
To get started, you're going to need to post a character sheet in the Characters section. There isn't much required information, and formatting of your sheet is up to you.
But before even that, you'll want to decide where you're going to start your Pokemon adventure. Simply let me know where you would like to start your character via an OOC post, and I will tell you what is in the area, including Pokemon and things to do. If the things in that area don't sound interesting, pick a new location.
Once you've chosen your starting location and had your character sheet approved, you are free to start posting in the IC section. To accommodate more trainers and keep things moving, keep posts short: three short paragraphs at most.
I will try my best to respond to every IC post, especially when your character moves to a new location. The only time I might not respond is if two trainers are interacting with each other and not moving anywhere. All that said, if I don't respond to your post right away, you don't have to wait. As long as someone (anyone) posts after you, you are free to post again.
The pace of this RP will be determined by the majority. In the first IC post, I will keep track of the day's date. Whenever things get quiet, when people aren't posting very much, I'll push the timeline to the next day, week, or even month. It all depends on the situation.
Game Mechanics???
I have decided to take out most game mechanics, in favor of focusing on the story telling. For example, catching Pokemon and leveling up your Pokemon are completely up to you. All I ask is that you be reasonable. Don't go from newbie trainer to Pokemon Master over night, or anything ridiculous. I will be telling you what Pokemon are in your area, then you can take it from there.
As for competitive PvP battles, you have two options:
Option 1: I can look at what level your Pokemon are at, do some math and random number generation, and come up with a winner. This is the best option for people who can't be online at the same time. I can do this for the whole battle, or for each Pokemon matchup.
Option 2: You can both go to Pokemon Showdown and recreate your battle team there, in the Anything Goes format. If you choose this however, it is your responsibility to look at your Pokemon on Bulbapedia to make sure that the moveset you choose for them is possible (considering whatever level they are at).
Any questions?
If not, here's one for you, "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
