[IC] The Supernatural Life (Always Accepting!!!)

Zack looked at his hand which was holding the wine glass, then around at his surroundings, confused. He wondered if he had left it on a table somewhere or what happened to it. But as he was standing in place looking around Vinashy was walking ahead and he walked on to catch up.

Zack looked though the clear wall amazed to see three coffins, presumably holding the mummies.

"Are these from Egypt? Or was it some other culture that practiced mummification?"

"Two of them are. The other one, the one on the far left, was found in a temple in the amazon rain forest. Aztec, I believe. Or was it Inca? I can never remember." He makes no noticeable gesture, but a light flicks on in the display room, and dozens of artifacts are illuminated in the room.

Zack marveled at the artifacts.

"Are these all mesoamerican?" He asked about the artifacts, remembering what he was taught about the Aztecs and their human sacrifices "I like the Aztecs. They were so brutal."

[Shadow Dragon]

"Yes. All taken from ancient ruins and tombs I've found. I work alone. Why share the treasure when you can keep it all yourself? Not that that's....legal, but who cares?"

"Pfft. How much does a rich man have to worry about the legality of things?" Zack mildly regretted what he just said, hoping such an assumption hadn't offended his host "So you travel the world collecting these things? That's cool. Have you ever found anything particularly...unusual? Like something in a place it shouldn't be?"

[Shadow Dragon]

He laughs at the 'rich' comment. "I'm glad you see it my way. Misplaced artifacts? Hummm.....I found a roman helmet in a viking grave once. That was strange. And I found a bullet casing in the grave of a 16th century nobleman."

What Vinashy said indeed interested Zack but something occurred to him. This man had all these mysterious ancient artifacts. Could he know something about the book and possibly the ritual?

"Hey, ya know I found something interesting myself just lying in the woods." Zack wasn't going to share every detail, but he reached into his jacket and pulled out the old, leather bound book that seemed to be the cause of his friends disappearing "Its a book of witchcraft, or something like that. There are tons of those, I know, but it looks old and its written in old English and I barely understand most of it."

"Entreating. My I have a look at it?" He holds out a gloved hand.

Zack gives the book to Vinashy, hoping he wasn't making some kind of terrible mistake. He reassured himself this wasn't a movie.

"Have a look through it. Maybe its from Britain. Or maybe its some bullshit from Barnes and Nobles. You will probably know."

"Hummm....It appears to be about.....the netherworld, and a ritual to open a rift."

Zack shivered a little. Normally if he heard such a thing he would have shrugged it off as something from a fantasy film, but this damn book took his friends and possibly has him in trouble with the law.

"How old do you think it is?" Zack asked, trying to gauge just how dangerous this thing was.

"Several....hundred years, possibly thousands......I thought these were destroyed."

The way Vinashy was talking...it was like he had seen a book like that before.

"So do you know anything else about it? You say its for opening a rift to the netherworld. Is it to summon the dead or something." Zack was sure he had found the real life Necronomicon, and instead of laughing or making Bruce Campbell jokes he was growing more nervous by the minute.

"The underworld is a world filled with gold, nightmares, and lava. Why someone would want to open a portal there is a mystery to me. You wouldn't summon the dead. That would be necromancy, not demonology. You'd summon soul dealers, nightmare eaters. Demons and devils, of near unimaginable power."

Zack had a hard time gauging how serious Vinashy was about what he was saying.

"You ever read up on a spell to...absorb people?"

[Shadow Dragon]

"There's an incantation for soulmeld if that's what you mean." He seems dead (heh heh heh) serious.

Something about the way Vinashy just said what he said made Zack uneasy.

"You said you thought they were all destroyed. How do you know about them? And what else do you know?"

[Shadow Dragon]

"I had what was thought to be the last copy years ago, but it was destroyed in a fire. How much do I know about what, boy?" His eyes flash red.

"Hum...soda, soda....I've got a bottle of coke, you want that?"

"Sure." Virgil said with a smile.

He gestures to the corner of the room, where a mini fridge sits half hidden. "Help yourself."
