Name: Charles Fleury (Sound&Flurry) Age: 24 Birthday: April 1st
Occupation: Web Designer (Hacktivist) Residence: One Bedroom Apartment
Appearance: Tall, slim-build, sharp facial features. Thinning brown hair messily combed to the side, unshaven, wears a pair of thick rim glasses. Typically dresses in a blue dress shirt with a black tie, tucked into a pair of cargo pants. However, his alter ego...
History: Charles always appeared to be your average person. He's especially ordinary looking, lived an especially ordinary life. He did well in school, got a degree in Computer Science and works a typical job in a small web design firm. However, when in "incognito mode" he adopts his alter ego, Sound&Flurry, a bubbly anime moe blob in a cat eared hoodie whose a notorious 'hacktivist'. Taking the non-violent approach to sticking it to the the man, S&F ('Saff') spends their evenings and weekends cracking into corporate databases and leaking sensitive information to the masses.
Gender: Genderless, Identifies as female. Ability: Trace
Personality: Nature: Relaxed Characteristic: Mischievous. Lovelace loves playing video games (playing in video games?) and is generally pretty chill. They find their trainers Hero Complex unsettling sometimes but gladly assists them in their endeavours since they love a good puzzle.
Friendship & Affection: Charles has a hard time registering Lovelace as an actual living organism given her artificial nature. In turn, Lovelace is desperate for his affection, which he gives sparingly. They both enjoy playing games, both board and computer variety. While only habitually programmed and not needed, Charles does give Lovelace food and water and appears to recognise that on level she is a living being deserving of care.
History: Ever since Lovelace came into Charles' life he has been studying and utilising her for his clandestine hacking operations. He finds her impossible and hopes to one day crack her code. During downtime they play video games and solving puzzles, though this is Charles likely testing her programming. They have done very little battling.
Trivia: Lovelace only takes up about 11 MB of data meaning she can easily be stored on a thumb drive. Charles thinks this is impossible and really wants to have a look at her code but she won't let him. They can communicate to each other in plain English using text programs.
Prologue: Charles had an inkling of the Pokemon underground network before meeting Lovelace, though he had just thought it was a prank of somekind. While browsing the darkweb, he recieved an email simply stating "I wish to learn." with a link attached. Taking the necessary safety precautions, he accessed the spooky link and was lead to a page with a single downloadable file on it. Thinking it was some kind of ARG he downloaded it and put 'Me.exe' through a battery of anti virus programs and consulted some friends on it before finally executing it. Thus, Lovelace popped into the world.
Since then the pair have been using their hacking skills to find and locate Pokemon entering the world and notifying contacts through the underground network. During downtime Charles has showed Lovelace many games and found out that she is a wiz at chess. While on her own Lovelace browses the internet to learn about the world and goes outside about as often as her trainer does. Which is almost never.
Charlie's life has been relatively kind to him. Raised by second generation migrants not too far from Fulhalm, London, he developed a taste for the urban lifestyle and quickly found himself at the centre of a passionate, affable group of musically-talented friends. Charlie's mother left before his 6th birthday, hoping to remake herself in America. His father spent almost all of his time raising Charlie, perpetuating a hatred of flakey, self-indulgent individualism. So the boy grew up with a certain fetishisation of routines and a desire to craft an art, rather than do what he 'wanted.'
His persuasive ability behind a drum set didn't go unnoticed, and many of his favourite memories was spending too long at his school's only drum kit, drumming on along Chad Parker's rhythm and always falling behind. His pleasure with the kit never matched his skill, and he worked harder than even his parents were expecting to get a scholarship to a presitigous music college. By the age of 16 he spent half of his time sitting down but wanted more than anything to be the kind of person that he always saw. Someone at the back, someone where the stage lights didn't quite reach and had a dozen instruments to play at once - he fell in love with the role, but always felt that he was falling behind. Eventually, without even realising it, he pushed away his closest friends to appear 'cool' and to be the best drummer he could be. When his school - that he was about to leave at the next opportunity - offered an opportunity to play a solo, something he had never expected to be given the chance to, he jumped at it. But it would end his career entirely.
Playing in front of the governors and parents of the thousand students that attended his school, he refused to end at the allotted time and continued for a famous three minutes. When the teachers tried to take him off, he kept on playing, desperate to imitate the solos that he had seen so many times. But, by the time Nimr had finished, he opened his eyes to find that there was no applause, no standing ovation, and certainly no praise. He was escorted and told not to return to the school until the board decided to exclude him. For those days that he awaited the terrible news, his parents were furious and Charlie only found solace in returning to the friends that he rejected, only for them to do the same to him. He became disgusted with himself and ran away from home - a choice that changed his life forever.
He ran for as long as he could, getting as far away from the dingy and cramped house he could. He discovered something in himself; the speed of the air running past his sweaty hair, the thud of his shoes on the cement, and the clockwork rhythm of his footsteps. When the local police stopped him, thinking he had committed some petty crime, they drove him home against his will. By the time his parents had finished scolding, he pretended to realise his mistake; he would calm down on the drums. He would run.
His musical scholarship was rejected when Charlie skipped the interview to run around his block, and the school's only drum kit was sold to help pay for new school materials, and Charlie barely made any fuss over it. He shot through the rest of his teens, quickly finding his friends enjoyed his drum-less life much more and his father encouraging him more, as well. Charlie had his first kiss before a local race, and even though he started late, caught up to the rest of the boys. Then he became a man, his life a series of events and training sessions, escaping to the country when his generous paternal uncle, Gamal, offered to take him in. His father moved away, too, back to the Egypt that he had never seen. Gamal and Charlie hit the American track events with speed, and before long, his Uncle's mansion in Seattle felt like home. But, even with his temperament, he still looked for something more; he tried his hardest to find details on his mother, whoever she was. He has a great relationship with a woman who sees a lot in himself but not vice versa, and after joining a top-tier Washington running society, he is eligible for nomination in a nation-wide race. But, somehow, he still feels empty. He recently moved out to his own apartment, finding the luxurious living space too much for his love of the city, and has become to profit over a new contract to teach children the basis of atheletics. But he's eying a spot on the state's running team, and will do anything he can do to make his Uncle proud. So he's running.
TL;DR: Charlie used to be a drummer until his self-confidence humiliated him, where he covered it up by running and running. He used to live in London, but after his mother moved out and never spoke to him again, his wealthy uncle Gamal offered him to stay with him in Seattle, where he now lives and is on the cusp of breaking into a national track competition. A part of him misses drumming, but he believes that he has no other choice but to be an athlete, and will stop at nothing to secure his goal. Except things are more complicated now; he has a new friend.
PERSONALITY:
Diligent
Dismissive
Passionate
Fatalist
Narcissistic
Nickname: Pulse Gender: Male Ability: Inner Focus Personality: Lax Friendship & Affection: A mutual respect for one another, but Charlie is constantly frustrated by Pulse's sleep routine, his indecisiveness when fighting, and general apathy to his position. The two will fight together if need be, but Charlie feels like he doesn't understand nor can relate to Pulse and is dismissive of the Pokemon because of it.
History: Pulse got his name from the way he snores, and how amusing Charlie initially found it. The rhythm of Pulse's high-pitched snores were funny at first, quicker than any creauture he had seen before. Even Charlie is unaware if he named the Pokemon from the pulse he feels when running or the pulse he used when drumming. The two began in a good way, with Charlie being sure to care to Pulse's needs and hiding him away in his cupboard, as he often had visitors. Even though he now lives alone, his Uncle and his schedule meant that Pulse was constantly alone and in crampt conditions, so he did what every Abra can do: teleport. Charlie spent hours looking for Pulse, terrified at the idea of losing him, but eventually found him fighting a wild animal. Seeing the raw psychic power of the Abra changed the way Charlie saw him; less of a pet and more of raw potential. Dangerous, but excitable.
Because of that, Charlie tried to drill behaviours into Pulse, but to no avail. He would always teleport away instead of confronting his partner. The two became angry at each other's lack of understanding, as Charlie would run miles to find where Pulse had disappeared off to, even missing a preliminary session with his Uncle about applying for a national team. When he was given the chance to take the vial to remove all the issue of Pulse in his life, he was very tempted; he was halfway to opening it, until Pulse teleported in front of him. At that moment, Charlie saw himself - afraid and confused. He resolved to never touch it again, meeting and joining with the PUNC to work and train with Pulse. While the two are not the best of friends, they are in some ways roommates - sometimes Pulse might even be as kind to teleport into his bathroom to have a shower, without so much as a whimper or call. The only problem is that Charlie is often using the toilet at the same time.
Name: Meili "Remi" Wan Age: 23 Birthday: January 20th
Occupation: Social Media Influencer -- a social media model who makes a decent enough profit off of sonsorships and product deals, with a side gig as a freelance photographer and photo/video editor for other influencers. Not that she has to work at all though, what with Mommy and Daddy's credit cards. Also uses her social media savvy for PUNC, scouring the internet for stories of potential Pokemon sightings.
Residence: Townhouse
Appearance: Short, slender, and sweet-faced, Remi has the look of a well-polished young woman who doesn't go a day without a skincare routine or a yoga class.
History: The only child to affluent Chinese immigrants, Remi wanted for little. She grew up with the usual trappings of having strict, demanding parents - she earned top grades, excelled in a variety of extracurriculars, and never dated (well... that they knew of). Once she went off to college, though... she became more difficult to control. Originally in school for pre-med, she soon transfered to the art department, studying photography and filmmaking. On a whim, Remi started an online vlogging channel, that quickly gained popularity because of her looks, inviting personality, and slick production quality. It wasn't long before she dropped out of school completely, devoting her time to her ever-more successful channel and online presence.
Pokemon: Cottonee Nickname: ChouChou Gender: Male Nature: Timid Characteristic: Mischievous Ability: Prankster Personality: ChouChou (pronounced "Shoo-Shoo") is perky and excitable, with a taste for mischief. Remi's learned to give herself an extra fifteen minutes to get ready whenever she goes anywhere, so she can find wherever he's hidden her keys or lipgloss.
Friendship & Affection: ChouChou is Remi's little pet, her spoiled, well-loved baby. The two are close as can be, though this also leads to ChouChou going through bad bouts of separation anxiety when they're apart and generally being timid around others.
History: ChouChou and Remi have been in only a handful of battles together, and each time they made it through by being clever rather than strong. They're still trying to gain confidence when they battle, as Remi in particular is hesitant to put ChouChou in harm's way.
Trivia: Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and French, plays the piano, violin, and guitar, enjoys photography, various forms of dance, and jazz music
Prologue: It was just before dawn, the sky a dull grey color before it would stain pink and orange in the morning light. Remi had woken up at 3:30 that morning to try and get some pictures and record during the golden hour, after a botched attempt the previous week. Her outfit and makeup were perfect, her hair in its signature waves, and she only needed a light pat on her face with a cotton pad to wipe away a bit of sweat after lugging her camera equipment around. She set up her tripod, mounted the camera, looked through the viewfinder at the sun just beginning to peak over the horizon... when there was the unmistakable flash of static. ChouChou and Remi have been inseperable ever since.
