Personality:
Jiro is as cold as the northern rains and sea. Due to his aloof nature, civilians prefer to keep him at arm's length. He does not reveal much about his past, often sticking to the same old story of him being a traveling sellsword that wishes to make a name for himself. He keeps his voice at a low level and speaks rather plainly. He has some difficulty interacting with people in a intimate level, such as having private conversations. During these times, he has difficulty finding words, leading to him sometimes stumbling over his sentences. When one gets to know Jiro, they find that he is a rather polite individual who tries to keep his temper from boiling over; despite his seemingly placid attitude, Jiro has a great dislike for arrogance and injustice, and will no doubt speak his mind when instigated.
Short Biography:
The third son of one of Yine's most famous samurai, Umeda Hayato, Jiro always had an eye for adventure. His brothers were raised and trained to become samurai and perhaps even shoguns in the long run, which meant that Jiro was expected to follow their footsteps. He dreamt of bringing even more honor the the family name and help provide a more comfortable lifestyle for his mother, who was constantly ill. At the age of ten, Jiro began to train under his father's supervision. He not only learned how to fend off an enemy with his sword and the help of his Vulpix, but also started to adapt to the lifestyle of bushido.
Jiro was eighteen when he enlisted in Yine's army. However, since the war took place three years ago, the country was in a state of quiet. There were no foreign enemies to fight, so he was told to either help patrol the borders or take up odd jobs on the behest of the army. He quickly proved that he was one of the best men in the army's ranks, not because of his strength and skill, but because of his loyalty, honor, compassion, and devoutness. At the age of twenty-four, he was invited by the emperor to be one of his champions in the Firebrand Tourney. With the help of his Ninetales and Skarmory, he was able to defeat many of the other competitors. Jiro was only bested at the last battle of the tourney, and even then, it was quite the close battle. Upon returning home, Jiro was promoted to samurai, due to the fact that he upheld honor and courage even in the face of defeat.
Unfortunately for Jiro, his glory and fame was short-lived. One day, while patrolling the streets of his hometown, he came across a thief that was stealing from a local fish store. He unsheathed his weapon, telling the thief to stand down. The thief did not comply. Instead, he withdrew a dagger and aimed to pierce Jiro's neck or chest. Seeing that the thief was going for a fatal blow, he quickly cut him down. Yet, the shop owner had not even seen the thief steal his stock, and everyone else was so caught off guard by Jiro's attack, that they thought he had lost his mind and slaughtered a man in broad daylight. Before the city guard could apprehend him, Jiro fled the town. During the night, when everyone was sleeping, he slipped back into his home and packed everything he could. Since his departure from his home, Jiro maintains the facade of a traveling sellsword that has no origin.
