Ivy chuckles, then sits by him. "Well, it all really started about 8-9 years ago. I was in New York before Saint Petersburg, and I hung out in Harlem where most of the others were. But there was this one really nice little older lady that was an RN, and when I first lived on the streets I kept getting hurt by different stuff, so she'd take care of me. She wanted to be a doctor, but her life got crazy before she could get the training. I'll never forget what she told me: 'Your dreams come first before everything, and screw anyone who won't support you.' Anyway, she took care of me so much that it just kind of stuck. There'd be one day when everyone would fight each other for some entertainment, but since most of us- of them didn't have a phone, they'd pick a random day when it seemed too quiet, after New Year's of course, to do it. The nurse was in charge of the medical administration, and she'd teach everyone that wasn't fighting at the moment how to give basic first aid, and, for a moment, everyone seemed happy, satisfied just helping each other. It was singularly the craziest and most beautiful thing when big ring opponents check each other for wounds. But one day, the lady just... disappeared. To this day I'm the only one that knows why. I promised," she sighs, looking at Jacob, hoping he'd understand. "Anyway, after her there seemed to be no one worthy of the position, but I guess people picked up on that I was around her a lot and I was a... an apprentice of sorts, so I got volunteered for the job. Ever since, what I didn't already know, experience taught me. Sometimes I'd get old med school books from info brokers if I was lucky. So yeah. Sorry, I didn't ask if you wanted the abridged or the full version," she ends in a joke.
