Ivy sighs. "Okay so, please keep in mind that this was on the streets, and I did everything and anything to survive. So... I was scouting out a store to make a steal, and well a bird made a nest nearby and I guess she thought I was looking for scrambled eggs. Anyway, the bird startles me and I fall into a bin and before I can do anything I'm loaded into a delivery truck. The truck makes a stop at a gas station, and I make a break for it cause I needed to pee! So I come back to scout out exactly what was going on, cause it smelled like an old barn on wheels, and the driver catches me. So I'm in the middle of Vermont, and I face the possibility of going back to the foster system. Turns out, the driver was working overtime because his wife, well, she passed a while ago, and he couldn't take care of his daughter by himself, so she was taken away from him. And I don't know, it was weird, like I was getting a chance to see how my dad felt giving me up, and he got to see what could happen to his little girl in a few years if he wasn't careful. He wanted advice on how to deal with his situation, without hurting his daughter, and I wanted a fresh start because I don't know what happened but it wasn't enough. He takes me with him to talk to an attorney, and he helps me to get enough money so I'd have a new ID and enough money so I wouldn't have to go back on the streets. He gives me a spot on a commercial boat on its way to Russia, a global extension of a company a friend that owed a favor worked for. On the boat, there were some translators and they taught me enough Russian to get by. When I got there, yeah I had to lie when people first saw a ten-year-old girl by herself which I feel bad about, but people got used to seeing me around, and would give me odd jobs for money, clothes, sometimes temporary housing. What about you?"
