The exterior would have all the classic elements of a Victorian building (lots of decorative features but a uniform, dark color) and the interior would also be styled like the time with over-the-top decor. If you Google Victorian interior design, you'll see a lot of the same. Throw pillows, figurines, china cabinets, large paintings, etc. Essentially a housemaid's worst nightmare. I'll include a few specific images I found that would be similar to the way the Hygrace manor looks specifically ^^

EDIT: I forgot to mention the one feature that would be missing is mirrors. Since it's a family of vampires with no reflection, they have no use for them.

If Victoria asked for one, Vail would send one of the Hygrace servants to buy one for her in the city xD He just wouldn't do it himself, since he wouldn't want to risk anyone noticing his lack of reflection in public

Yeah, he’s hyper paranoid xD Between that quality and Victoria’s blood, which is already attention-grabbing, he noticed there was a trespasser right away.

I’m thinking they might have even woken up most of the other Hygraces too, which Vail will have to deal with when he’s out of the room (his cousins will all want to know what’s going on and where the blood scent is coming from).

Not easily, at least xD Peter would have to personally walk her out the door, because he’s the only one the rest of the clan will submit to. Even Vail would have a hard time keeping them away from her though he has some authority as the next family head.

So in regard to humans being changed into vampires, I made a lot of headway on how I think it should go in this RP world.

The Process:
To transform a human, a vampire would have to drain them of enough blood to kill them. However, during the feed they would use a knife or other blade to open a wound on their own body (usually forearm) from which the human would drink as well. It could be thought of like a transfusion. When the human is completely drained, their body has to accept the vampire's blood as a replacement. However, it's not always guaranteed to work because the human's heart might reject the foreign blood, and they would die. In the meantime, the human would be comatose for a day or two while they either slowly recover as a vampire or pass away if the procedure fails. If it's successful, it would take about a week longer for fangs to come in and bloodlust to start accruing. Also, any physical ailments the human had would be healed.

The History:
It was discovered centuries ago that vampires could turn their human victims into one of their own kind through the aforementioned process. It used to be more common, especially when the vampires' population was still exceedingly small and new. Some clans were made up almost entirely of transformed humans. However, over time it became seen as unnecessary (especially when more clans started looking down on humans as inferior), and the process became taboo. Elder vampires stopped teaching it to the next generations, and the younger ones only heard vague tales of it in their history lessons. Now, the only way one could learn how to do it is by finding a written record of the actual process, since it's a lost art to most of the current living vampires.

For Vail, the thought of transforming Victoria into a vampire wouldn't have even crossed his mind because it's treated as an ancient practice, even though all natural-born vampires are still perfectly capable of doing it today. If she brought it up to him, that would spark his curiosity enough to search his family's library for a record of the procedure (they would have one). Then the two of them would have to decide if they thought it was worth risking her life, since there's a known margin of failure.

I really like that idea and the thought process behind it, as well as the stigma that goes with it as an ancient ritual. But this then begs the question - when/where did they start to evolve from humans? And what could have triggered the evolution, as it takes millennia to evolve. Or perhaps we don't need to get so philosophical about it! XD

If Vail isn't willing to take the risk, maybe he will have no choice but to use his blood if she's dying? If she's going to die anyway, then it's worth trying.

Or we can go another route and completely split them up for a small stint due to his family's threats etc and that she isn't good enough as a human. Then enter Clan Moncourier! Her mother's former lover was a possessive vampire (she found out too late who he really was) and she had a son by him. She was then rescued by Alex as the other vampire was left with the baby. So Victoria has an older half brother and an attachment to a powerful French vampire clan, who will protect her and they could even still practice the ancient ritual and turn her. So she could return to the Hygraces as a fully fledged vampire one day and prove them she is worthy (if Vail hasn't severed his attachment and married Sylvia yet).

Great! We can go with that then. And I was thinking short-term adaptation rather than long term (kind of like how animals adapt to their environments if they need to), since they're not so biologically dissimilar that they would need that much time, haha. The fact that they can interbreed proves that. They would just have had an isolated group somewhere that bore mutated offspring for whatever reason. As a nod to vampire lore, we could say they came out of Transylvania!

I like both of those ideas! Especially the introduction of new characters. That's always fun cx I think I'm partial to Vail being the one to turn Victoria (forced or willing) because I was thinking about including something about the turned human being tethered to the vampire that turned them. I'm not sure what that would look like yet, but it could add another level of intrigue. Maybe we could combine the above two somehow? Say Peter forces Victoria to leave the Hygrace manor when she's well enough to make it back to her own home, she has her encounter with the French clan, and then something happens that would cause her to be fatally wounded before she has the chance to be turned by anyone else. It could be that the Wynters (or even specifically Spencer) attack her because 'if they can't have her, no one can.' Or something else entirely. What do you think?

Well I can certainly arrange it so that Vail turns her. I will have the Wynter clan descend upon the Crest manor for a showdown. I will have Diana reach out to the Moncourier clan in a plea for help as she has no-one else to turn to. Then the Moncouriers will fight the Wynters and Victoria will be fatally wounded. The clash will be so big it will no doubt have to involve the entirety of the Order and their own civil war and the Hygrace clan. Because once the Wynters gain victory, they'll turn to the Hygrace for vengeance for them taking Victoria from Spencer. It will be unavoidable.
