"Cyrus I know you're eighteen now, and you have your own adventures to go on. Before you do that, I think I should tell you something I should have told you a long time ago. While your father and me did love each other very much and always will, I was not the first woman that he had a child with. You have an older brother, his name is Gildarts and he's a wizard too. I think you too should meet someday, it might be good for you,"

Those words followed Cyrus for years as he traveled all over Fiore, along with Tirk, his exceed partner that had been by his side since Cyrus was sixteen. They were inseparable most times, Tirk was the only real friend that Cyrus had. Cyrus was a wizard yes, an earth Dragon Slayer who had learned his craft from the earth dragon Terradonna. Cyrus had never seen the need or desire in himself to join a guild. He much preferred to travel on his own, though that did not leave much in the way of work for himself, Cyrus didn't mind much. He didn't need a whole lot to be happy, he was a simple guy.

But after several years of traveling solo, Cyrus began to feel a lonely itch. Not only did he suddenly have a burning desire to meet his brother, Cyrus wished to have a family of his own outside of Tirk. Joining a guild might give him a sense of home he hadn't had in many years. Cyrus and Tirk discussed it at length, Tirk having tried to convince Cyrus many times over the last few years to join a guild. Cyrus saw no better option than joining the guild he had recently heard his older brother was currently a part of, Fairy Tail. It was ironically inconvenient to Cyrus that Fairy Tail just so happened to be the number one guild in Fiore and probably was therefore super hard to get into. But Cyrus figured he'd at least give it a shot.

So he'd traveled to Fairy Tail and suddenly seen that every single member was certifiably insane. He loved it immediately.

"Why is it that you want to join Fairy Tail, boy?"The master of Fairy Tail, a short yet intimidating man named Makarov, asked him once Cyrus had been brought to his office. Cyrus had heard of Makarov Dreyar and his power,, he was one of the Ten Wizard Saints after all and therefore very popular in the Wizarding world. Cyrus simply thought he would have been taller, and not quite as old.

Cyrus chose in that moment to be honest, "Well, I've long since realized that traveling alone only has so many benefits, and I'd like to make a stable income. It'd be nice to have a home rather than move around all the time, as to why I chose to join Fairy Tail specifically, that's a bit of a longer story. Basically it boils down to the fact that I have a half-brother that I have never met. But he's a member of your guild. I have come here to meet him, hopefully," Cyrus explained as he sat in the chair in front of Makarov's desk with Tirk sitting in the chair next to him, his arms folded and eyes closed. He knew this story well.

" Is that so? And which of my lovely children do you happened to be related to?" Makarov asked him, his interest clearly piqued.

"Gildarts Clive,"

A month later and Cyrus found himself sitting at the bar inside the Fairy Tail Guild Hall. Tirk sat beside him on top of the bar, his eyes closed and arms crossed in silent meditation as Cyrus nursed a glass of beer. It had been a rather boring day, Cyrus not doing much except laze about the guild hall. Cyrus had not joined a team since joining the guild, preferring to work solo. He'd also made a name for himself in the guild as the replacement for Loke, in that Cyrus tended to flirt with all the single girls in the guild and outside of it. He never got very far, but he never gave up either, he was very determined.

Cyrus figured he should probably take a job, he could use the money and it would give him something to do. But going on jobs with just Tirk had even lost its fun, even if they didn't talk about they knew that they wished to have some more friends. Cyrus just wasn't very good at friends. Plus, he'd yet to see Gildarts in the last month, he'd apparently taken a serious job and had yet to return. This put Cyrus in a rather sour mood from time to time as he had come to Fairy Tail to meet Gildarts and had yet been given the opportunity to do so.

Cyrus sighed as he sat there, taking another small swig of beer.

"You know instead of getting drunk and sighing out of boredom, we could take a job," Tirk said without moving.

Cyrus sighed again, rolling his eyes and resting his chin on his hand with a bored expression, "I guess, I'm kind of tired of solo missions though,"

“Come on Lucy are you still mad we didn’t take the money?”

“It would have looked bad on the guild if we did.”

“I know, I know.” There had been a long argument during the train ride back to Mongolia as to why Natsu decided to not take the money for the job they did. I get but at the same time I need the money! I have to pay rent! A shiver moved through her as she settled back against the seat of the train as she stared out the window, her elbow up on the seal with her chin in her hand. A small puff left her as Natsu fell asleep (unwillingly, thanks to a punch across the head) as her brown gaze turned out the window. How was she going to get rent for this month?

Mongolia soon came into view and Lucy flexed and stretched before climbing to her feet for a final stretch as the train pulled into the station. Being a team player as she was, she pulled Natsu to his feet and drug him off the train as she had done many times before. Once outside he popped back to life and the two gathered their things with Happy in tow as they ventured back to the guild.

Once inside Lucy waved good bye to Natsu and went straight to the job board. However she seemed almost exhausted. Traveling for two days, completing a job in one and not getting paid takes a lot out of a person; instead of stopping, she walked directly into the board with a small thump as her forehead rested against the board reading a piece of paper way too close that it was blurry. She needed a good paying job, she needed the money and if Natsu was going to keep handing away their money than she’d be without a place to live.

Pulling her head back from the board she took a step back and let out a sigh knowing full well she was not strong enough to do something by herself and with how fast she needed the money, she knew she needed to do something quickly.
