Hello Roleplayers!
I am looking to start an original roleplay, but before I dive into the plot, I want to talk about the structure of the roleplay.
I want to try a Discord based roleplay that meets once a week for two hours. At my job, a restaurant, I generally have Saturday or Sunday off, at least in the morning (if not all day on one of those days). The way they do the schedule at my job sucks, only posting it on Sunday, (the day before the week starts). So every Monday, after getting my schedule, I can post my availability for the upcoming Saturday/Sunday. Then we can see how many people are available to play that week.
As for the plot, I want it to be flexible and changing but tied together into one coherent story at the same time. Kind of like a good TV series. Here's what I mean:
We start as people from here on Earth, and we stumble across some sort of sci-fi portal. We are transported to some other world, be it futuristic or magical, that doesn't matter yet, and like Avatar (the sci-fi movie, not the anime), we find ourselves inside the body of native people/creatures. But more like the old TV show Quantum Leap, the body that we inhabit already had it's own life and was already in the middle of it's own conflict. Only, in this case, whatever conflict your body was a part of, got it killed. You inhabiting the body brings it back to life and heals it, but otherwise, you're still stuck in a dangerous situation that already killed the body once, and that could get you killed again.
Unsure of whether dying here means returning to your original self back on Earth, or actually dying for good, the only logical step is to try and survive till you figure things out. Through unforeseen circumstances, all our players will then bump into each other and somehow realize that they know each other from Earth. It then becomes a race to stay alive and try and figure out a way back home.
SPOILER ALERT: We do eventually find our way back home, well... most of us. If you want to retire from the roleplay, you can kill off your character. Or if you want to start fresh with a new character, you can kill of your character. Or you could have your character embrace their strange new life and choose to stay behind.
As for the rest of us, we will return to Earth... only to have to go back into the portal for a reason I don't yet wish to reveal. When that happens, we will be transported to a new world, with new bodies and new life threatening situations. Thus, the adventure continues...
I already have ideas for the first world that we are transported to and will act as GM for that world. But I will let someone else in the group take the reigns for the second time we go into the portal. Each time, a new person will take the lead, until everyone has had a turn and we start over.
