"Don't tell me. They're posting a Disney D&D 5e interest check?"
"Yup,"
"Little to no interest from players?"
"Most likely,"
In the darkness of the night, a woman gasps as she wakes from a nightmare by the sound of a thunderstorm that rages on outside. She looks towards the window and sees the rain pelting against the glass. She remembered the nightmare clearly...she had used a potion to age herself significantly to take on the appearance of an old lady, so that she may kill Snow White with a poisoned apple. She was victorious, and those damned dwarves chased her to her doom before she could roll a boulder onto them.
No...No, it wasn't a dream. It felt too real to be a dream. She knew...she had died. But then...
She rubbed her face as she thought, and she found something surprising. Her face...it felt smooth! She rushed over to the normal mirror in her bedroom, and she saw as the lightning flashed once more. She was young! She was young again! She was a beautiful young lady. Why...she looks as young as the day she married...!
She hurried out of her room and made her way to room that once occupied by Snow White. When she carefully opened the door, she found a child with hair as black as ebony lying in bed, asleep. It was Snow White! And she was a child again! But...something about her was different. She couldn't quite place her finger on what was different.
What was going on?!
She shook her head and quietly closed the door to Snow White's room so as to not wake her. She headed for the basement. She should have her magic mirror there, hidden from all curious eyes and ears other from her own. If anyone can answer her question, it would be the magic mirror, the one who can see all. It didn't take her long to reach the basement. She stepped up the stairs, and calls to the mirror,
"Magic Mirror, Be my key.
Reveal the truth of the world to me!
Do not conceal!
Was my nightmare real?"
The thunder boomed once more as the Queen spoke, with her hands raised. After the thunder quieted and the question was spoken, the flames appeared in the glass, and a face revealed itself within the mirror. The mirror begins to speak once more.
"Indeed, Your Majesty, your nightmare is true,
Your demise began with a deadly brew.
However, you are not in Hell,
Someone has turned back time with a spell,"
Your demise began with a deadly brew.
However, you are not in Hell,
Someone has turned back time with a spell,"
The Queen was startled to hear the mirror's words. She knew it wouldn't lie, but the fact that this was so astounded her. It takes a great amount of power to turn back time like this! She asked the mirror once more,
"How can this be?!
Who and why?! Answer my plea!"
"Alas, the identity of the caster is hidden from me,
But what I do see...
The stories for all have been undone,
For the benefit of one."
But what I do see...
The stories for all have been undone,
For the benefit of one."
Many more questions appeared in place of the previous ones. What could this caster gain from this? Was this a second chance for her? Or was this a sign of an incoming disaster?
There was another pressing question she felt the need to ask...
"Magic Mirror, I beseech you as your master,
Who will be the ones to face this caster?"
So, yeah. This is a Disney D&D 5e RP where you can play as your favorite Disney character adventuring about in the world. Before we go on to see who would be interested in playing and who your characters may be, here are a few rules and things to consider.
-Standard RPGuild rules apply.
-As a fair warning to you guys, there will be days when I can post immediately, and times when my response time will be incredibly slow due to reasons outside of the game. I will do my best to communicate, keep you guys in the loop and keep the game going.
-The tone of the game will be similar to that of Kingdom Hearts and Once Upon a Time. However, there may be times when the tone will lean towards horror, Lovecraftian or otherwise, so beware…! BEWARE…! ^Insert spooky ghost ‘Ooooo’s here^.
-For a single group/game, the minimum amount of players I’m looking for is five, while the max amount of players is seven. However, in the event that this drums up more interest than expected, then I will make two separate games for the players. For example, if there are 8 players interested total, then the two games will have 4 players each, grouped together at DM discretion.
-If you read all of these rules and wish to play/submit a character, begin your Character submission with a poetic stanza describing your character, something that the Magic Mirror would say in response to the Evil Queen’s latest question.
Character Creation!
-Start your character at level 1.
-For stats, you can roll for your stats or you can take the standard array. If your rolled stats are not good, then you can take the standard array instead.
-I’ll allow Unearthed Arcana.
-In addition to the normal classes, Artificers are also allowed.
-As I love storytelling and I use the dice rolls to help me see where the story is going to go and what unexpected turns take place, there are some things I’d like you to keep in mind when composing your character’s backstory. With this story’s premise, changes in stories are bound to happen! The questions I pose to you now, is how much did this reset change your character’s story? What changed? At what point in the story did your character leave to go adventuring? Why did your character leave to go off on an adventure? What are their motivations, wishes, and fears? I leave all of that to you.
-Before you guys even ask: No, your characters do not have the same knowledge that the Evil Queen has. They are blissfully unaware that time has reversed and the world has changed significantly.
-Speaking of the world and Disney stories, stories that take place in the modern day world originally are permissible as long as you change the story accordingly so it would fit the Sword and Sorcery setting of Dungeons and Dragons.
-What if you want to create an original character instead of playing an already existing Disney character? I’ll allow that as long as the character connects to a story somehow. Maybe your character is a friend to an important character? Maybe your character was someone in the background who witnessed a story unfold before their eyes? Maybe your character was a henchman who just grew sick and tired of a Villain’s antics? Or maybe…your character is the main character of a story Disney has not exploited explored yet? Whatever the case may be, the only thing I ask is to not make your OC related to an existing character as family. This is just me, but it feels like a cop-out.
-Do note that places like Wonderland, Neverland, and Halloween Town will count as planes other than the Prime Material Plane.
-As we all know, Disney has a lot of stories under their belt. So, which characters are good to go for adventuring? …OK, there’s too many to list there. It’s easier to list which ones are not able to adventure for reasons that may or may not be unknown to you (for now). And they are….
-OK. I think that’s all of them. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Just in case you read all of this, at the end of your character app, write I wish… and finish that sentence with your character’s wish.
....And let me know what you thought of the little ice breaker joke at the beginning? It was probably lame, but I thought it was funny, and fitting.
I look forward to seeing who's interested and who the player characters will be! XD
