Devin was distracted by their moment being discovered by Dan. "I'm fine with it. Just not sure what the Captain will think." Devin said with a somewhat concerned look, but then brought some humor back to ground him So I guess I gotta shoot him before he tells him." He then broke the hug and started towards the rooms exit with Harper. "I'll talk to him." He said as he opened the door, "And yea the whole ponytail and baseball cap look is like catnip." Something about it just has a really finished look.

After he left Devin looked for and found Dan coming out of an elevator... A stern look told him Devin wanted to talk and they made their way to the break room.

"Okay who did you tell?" Devin said with his interrogation voice.

"No one." Dan said quickly in what was obviously a lie. The look Devin gave him showed that he was going to have to answer again. After some awkward silence Dan finally broke down. "Okay I didn't tell anyone, but I might have texted someone." Again the stare took a moment but finally Dan broke. "I texted Jordan alright." By the time he finished the name Devin was already making his way down to the medical examiners floor.

As soon as he walked in Jordan was standing with the biggest grin on her face that he had ever seen. "Hey Devin.... Up to anything?" She said with a tone that told him all he needed to know. Jordan had read the text and was ready to have the most enjoyable time of her life with its content.

"Hey Jordan." Devin said as he walked into the room and sat down. If this was going to happen it might as well happen now.

"So, why were you in the evidence lockup with Harper, huh?"

The brunette perked her eyebrow, half way through bagging up some lab samples to send off for testing. "Dan said that you looked cozy, perhaps more cosy then say, two people just casually sleeping together might be." Her eyes narrowed in on the detective. How did Harper keep this to herself?! Were they dating? Were they official.. Wait, they couldn't be official.. People would know.

"Do people know?" She continued, trying to maintain her nervous excitement. "You better not be messing her around Devin.." There was a slightly manic air about the way she was writing on her specimen labels.

"Because if I find out you are, see that saw back there.." The Dr. Pointed to the wall behind her. "I'll use that on you. Without anaesthetic."

And with that, she drummed her hands on the metal worktop. "How long has it been going on?"

Jordan and Devin continued to chat for the next few minutes about how it all happened. She apparently really didn't have a clue it was happening, which surprised Devin considering how networked she was. While not openly spoken Devin realized he had actually assumed some people already knew about him and Harper, but just weren't saying anything. A week ago she had accidentally worn one of his shirts to work. A little oversight she quickly corrected by rushing off during lunch to buy a new one.

"So what was your first date?" Jordan asked with a smile. "I mean you do have a reputation for being the go to guy for first date ideas." She seemed to have fully switched from friend threatening a friends new lover to complete gushy gossip.

Devin thought about this question for a moment and then started to think so more. Had they actually gone on a date? I mean they had gone out and done stuff like a concert or a movie, but he quickly started to realize that in a blink of an eye they just sort of started dating. There was no line crossed or box checked.

Jordan started looking annoyed. "Devin Coal you go up there and you take that woman on a first date!" Her tone wasn't one to be argued with and to be honest Devin completely agreed with her. He wondered if this meant something deeper, but decided to just fix it rather than ponder about it.

Leaving the cool medical floor and riding the elevator back up to his desk he walked over to Harper and looked her dead in the eyes. "I want to take you out on a first date." He said with a rather serious tone.

The last six months had simply flown by. It took all the crew at the station a long while to get their heads around Joel turning out to be their killer, and once that all kicked off, it made Devin and Harper being official seem like old news. After a meeting with Scott, it was decided to split the pair in the name of professionalism and all that jazz. Dan was Devin's new sidekick, and Harper had taken a little walk over to the organised crime squad.

Initially, organised crime had struck Detective Johnson as alarmingly dull, but she put up with it because she understood why she had to move. She might not have liked it, but she understood it. So Harper's new partner was Vince. Six foot of muscle and brooding eyebrows. Handsome, but as intimidating as fuck too. He was an amusing guy though, so after an initially rocky teething period, they'd found their groove.

The team were embroiled with one of the many organised crime gangs that operated in New York City. This one in particular had suspected weapon smuggling links to the Mafia itself, and the sooner they were dispersed the better. But for now, it was recon. Stake outs, and undercover - which as it turns out, Harper was rather good at. Must have something to do with her personable nature, or that's what she told herself.

The station wasn't a place that Detective Johnson found herself at all that much these days, but she was having to submit monthly blood tests for drug testing. Apparently a formality when you were working vice, but she bloody hated needles, and she hated it even more when Mia was on the other end of it. She was certain that the sour Medic stabbed it doubly hard because of the Devin angle. Jordan didn't hurt anywhere near as much. Bitch.

So, it was a sunny and rather warm afternoon, and Harps called in enroute with Vince to do a stake out. The blonde was sporting a pair of rather distressed looking shorts and a cropped pink t-shirt. Not her usual work wear, but she had to blend in to her surroundings. The blonde hair was pulled up into a ponytail, and she had a baseball cap on.

"Who's been using my desk as a filing cabinet?" The blonde narrowed her eyes at an uncomfortable looking Dan, who unfortunately for him, was sat opposite.

"Uhh, well." He scratched the back of his neck and puffed out his cheeks in order to look innocent, "I might have put a few things on it.."

"A few things? A few Dan?" Harper continued, before she picked up the stack and let go, watching the papers flutter prettily to the floor. "I haven't left you know.. I''ll be back in like three weeks, and I'd really like to be able to see my desk.."

Dan raised his eyebrows, "I'll tidy it up, Harper.. I promise."

Sheesh, working with Vince is really rubbing off on her

"Thanks.." The blonde flicked her eyes nervously to the clock.

"Another date with Mia, huh?"

"Yeah." Harper scrunched her nose, "I really hate it. I feel sick enough already."

"Well, I wouldn't want to be that close to Mia. She terrifies me."

"Dan honey, remind me - what doesn't terrify you?"

Devin was sitting on cloud nine this morning as he walked into the precinct with his brand new motorcycle helmet. After a few years of going back and forth he had finally decided it was time to get back into the motorcycle game. A few sales stops later and he was riding to work in a Triumph Bonneville he bought from a collector.

Savannah, was a thing of true beauty and even though he had only had her for the past two days Devin loved the bike more than any other inanimate object in his life including his gun and badge. He tossed his helmet in his locker and quickly took a shower before changing into his suit and tie.

The last few cases he and Dan had worked on were starting to pick up and get close to trial and he had to attend a few depositions later today. Rules are you either wear your uniform or suit and tie and Devin was starting to enjoy dressing up a little more than he used to. Still loves his hoodie and jeans look so it wasn’t a concern for most just yet.

He entered the bullpen to see Dan at Harpers desk and his on loan partner chatting. He had guessed that Harper was going to be in today as it was on his calendar that she had her drug test. He walked up to the two of them and held out a box of donuts. “Who wants to be a stereotype this morning?” He said with a smile.

The mess that was formerly known as Harper’s immaculately kept desk had been an eye sore for Devin. Normally the only things that cluttered up her desk was his paperwork, but now that he was dealing with someone who was even messier than him he had realized it was up to him to keep things organized. The battle had been faltering as they more than once misplaced a casefile.

He put his hand on the small of Harpers back and gave her a sideways hug that was both minor but intimate. Since it was widely known the two had kept it mostly professional at the office with the rush of the possibility of getting caught losing some of the luster. Since Jordan’s advice and they went on actual dates things had been moving along well and he felt comfortable with things.

“Your monthly dose of pain deserves something presented to the altar.” Devin said motioning to the sugar pastries and Harpers date with the needle vixen. “I still think it is sort of bogus that Jordan can’t do it just because of the chain of evidence.” He mused as they quickly as he had moved away from the topic of his ex.

“We have to be at the courthouse in an hour… Want to meet over at gang task force for lunch?” Dan asked the two after looking at his watch and figuring out the traffic.

"Lunch? Sounds good." Food always sounded good. Lunch, dinner.. brunch. Anywhere there was food, Harper was happy to be. "We don't have a very busy day over there today. We did most of our Intel at stupid o'clock this morning." But Devin would known that, having been the one to practically push Harper out of the bed when her alarm rang. Sadly, the merry mood was stomped all over by surgical issue crocs when Mia reared her ugly head.

"Detective Johnson, are you ready?" The female blinked and crossed her arms, almost as though she was waiting for a child to do as they were told. Harper flared her nostrils in irritation, but she summoned up an alarmingly sweet smile.

"Of course, I'm on my way.."

Mia nodded sharply, and walked away like she owned the place. Johnson turned to Devin and Dan. "I'll see you at lunch.. And, well - if I'm not there, it's probably worth investigating." And with her eyes opened wide in feigned horror, Harps disappeared down the stairs towards the dungeon. As always, Mia was brutal in abstracting the specimen, but Detective Johnson was relieved when she got to be on her way, leaving Mia to process the sample for report.

Devin gave a happy smile and wave to Harper that quickly dissipated when Mia shot him a look. Though it had now been months the previous lover was still feeling jaded for possibly obvious reasons. Still Devin was sure it would finally blow over at some point so he figured it best to be left alone. As quick as they could Dan and Devin got their things together and began to pack up to take their lunch with Harper.

They all met down at the building entrance. Devin had decided they would hit up one of his favorite Thai restaurants which he hadn’t been to in over a month. The hankering for some drunken noodles was strong in his tummy and the only way to squash it was by pleasing the food gods with sacrifice.

Walking with his arm over Harpers shoulders and Dan to his right Devin had the trio walking in a wonderful New York City spring day. The weather was perfect for his light suit and tie look with the rest of the group equally happy with the ambient temperature. Cutting through a small square with a park Devin couldn’t help but just say “I love this city…”

“Course it is the underbelly that really has character. How is organized crimes and vice working out for you Harper?” Devin said.
